Dolphins vs. Colts Predictions For NFL Week 7, Sunday 10/20
There’s no denying that this matchup isn’t exactly the marquee matchup of the weekend. If not for the Dolphins skid following the concussion suffered by QB Tua Tagovailoa, that may have otherwise been the case.
Speaking of QB injuries, the Colts have been dealing with one themselves in second-year QB Anthony Richardson. Admittedly, he wasn’t playing his best through the first few weeks, so now the debate is whether Indy should even have him back under center when fully healthy.
With the leaders of these offenses hindered, it’s difficult to expect many fireworks in this matchup. Miami is coming off their bye, but even still, we also agree with the fact that the Colts are favored in this matchup.
Miami Dolphins: Almost Tua Time
It was the topic of the NFL world the entire week and change following Tua’s concussion, but now that it’s been a few weeks, it’s time to revisit things. That is because Tua will be eligible to return following this game given how injured reserve works, and that is significant given the narrative after his concussion.
The concern wasn’t which game he would return for, but rather, if he would ever play again. Earlier this week, head coach Mike McDaniel stated that the team expects Tua to return to the field “in 2024.” That could mean as soon as he’s eligible, by the end of the calendar year or the overall 2024 season.
Indianapolis Colts: Wacko For Flacco
Joe Flacco. While all headlines focus on the ever-so-slightly older Aaron Rodgers, Flacco continues to defy all odds. After coming off the couch to lead the Cleveland Browns to the playoffs last year and winning Comeback Player of the Year, he’s now doing the same for the Colts.
He’s led Indy to wins in two of their last three games, and they were just a field goal away from a four-game winning streak. Even still, Flacco has thrown for multiple touchdowns in all three of his games this year, even despite coming in mid-game in the first one. It’s not the best matchup this week, but Flacco is still proving that the elite debate from his Baltimore Ravens days were warranted.
Dolphins vs. Colts Odds, Spreads, Total & Betting Lines
We’ve used the latest Dolphins vs. Colts odds at BetMGM Sportsbook for our best bet to give you the best value:
- Point Spread: Miami Dolphins +3.5 (-110) vs. Indianapolis Colts -3.5 (-110)
- Money Line: Miami Dolphins (+145) vs. Indianapolis Colts (-175)
- Game Total (Over/Under): Over 44.5 (-110) vs. Under 44.5 (-110)
Dolphins vs. Colts Predictions: Under 44.5 Points (-110 at BetMGM Sportsbook)
As mentioned, BetMGM provides the best spot for the best bet from our Dolphins vs. Colts picks, as we see this total as low as 43.5 points elsewhere. Even with that being the case, our projections are for a game with around 40 points scored.
In other words, we expect the team that is able to get 20+ points to win this matchup. That also supports an Indy win, as the Dolphins offense has been an absolute shell of the dynamic one it was last year.
Miami was the absolute best in the NFL last year in many regards, including being the only team to average over 400 yards per game. That continued to start this season, but without Tua, it just simply isn’t operating. Perhaps the best way to illustrate that is the stats for superstar WR Tyreek Hill.
After a game of seven catches for 130 yards and a touchdown with Tua, he’s had games of 24, 40, 23 and 69 receiving yards, and hasn’t found the end zone since. That is staggeringly awful for such a great talent, and fantasy football managers will tell you the same.
Similarly, while Flacco is leading the Colts to win, they aren’t lighting up the scoreboard either. Last week was a perfect example of that, as they won with just 20 points on the board. That was against the league’s best passing defense in the Tennessee Titans (surprisingly enough), and Miami boasts the third-best.
Therefore, we’re confident locking in under 44.5 points (-110 at BetMGM Sportsbook) as the best bet from our Dolphins vs. Colts predictions.
