The first battle for Ohio is upon us! This Sunday’s matchup between the Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns is also a battle to avoid being at the bottom of the AFC North, as it hasn’t been the best season for either side. Bengals vs. Browns Predictions For NFL Week 7, Sunday 10/20
The battle for Ohio was long considered one of the least impactful matchups in the entire NFL, but in recent seasons, the tables have completely flipped. Well, this season, they may have flipped again.
After a playoff appearance for the Browns, they now sit at 1-5, and with high expectations for the Bengals given the return of a healthy QB Joe Burrow, they sit at 2-4. So, who can we trust this Sunday?
Cleveland should be looking to the ground game to exploit Cinci, while the Bengals need to demonstrate the passing attack that we saw the first four weeks rather than the most recent Sunday Night Football game. We agree with the fact that Cinci is favored, even on the road, but we’re going to be isolating a different market for the best bet from our Bengals vs. Browns predictions.
Cincinnati Bengals: Who Are They Really?
The Bengals aren’t the only team baffling fans this season, but they’re certainly among the most confusing. Even with their 0-3 and 1-4 start, we could at least define them as a team with an electric offense that simply had an abysmal defense.
However, it has since become a bit more complicated than that. Sunday Night Football was a significant shift, as they looked far from explosive on offense in a 17-7 win over the New York Giants, and even needed a late touchdown to fully secure the win. Speaking of which, that came from backup RB Chase Brown, as we need to monitor RB Zack Moss as well.
Cleveland Browns: The Return & The Departure
Speaking of RBs, that is one of two big storylines surrounding the Browns this week. In fact, the return of Nick Chubb is one of the biggest all season in terms of coming off injured reserve. Most fans remember his devastating knee injury last season, and it was far from the first he’s had to that same body part.
Therefore, we fully anticipate that Chubb will be extremely limited and on a snap count. With that in mind, it’s important to remember that RB Jerome Ford suffered a hamstring injury this past Sunday as well.
As for the departure aspect of this headline, that would be star WR Amari Cooper. After a terrific season with QB Joe Flaccoo tossing the rock last year, things have been rough with QB Deshaun Watson under center. The news of him being traded to the Buffalo Bills came just hours after the news that WR Davante Adams was joining a different AFC East team - the New York Jets.
Bengals vs. Browns Odds, Spreads, Total & Betting Lines
We shared that we weren’t surprised to see Cinci listed as road favorites, and you can see the latest Bengals vs. Browns odds at FanDuel Sportsbook below:
- Point Spread: Cincinnati Bengals -6.5 (-110) vs. Cleveland Browns +6.5 (-110)
- Money Line: Cincinnati Bengals (-275) vs. Cleveland Browns (+225)
- Game Total (Over/Under): Over 42.5 (-105) vs. Under 42.5 (-115)
Bengals vs. Browns Predictions: Cleveland Team Total Under 9.5 Points (-110 at FanDuel Sportsbook)
While we expect the Bengals to come away with the win, the best bet from our Bengals vs. Browns predictions isolates the Cleveland side of the matchup. In that regard, we aren’t expecting much from their offense.
Frankly, that isn’t saying much - their 240.2 yards per game are the absolute worst and their 15.8 points per game are the third-worst. So, despite the Bengals defense being their weaker unit, we are more than comfortable trusting them to keep the Browns out of the endzone.
That’s primarily because of where Cinci’s defense has been struggling. That would be on the ground, but as we’ve already shared, the Browns backfield is decimated. We’re excited to see the return of Chubb as he’s one of the best backs in the NFL, but he is absolutely going to be limited.
To further illustrate just how difficult it’s going to be for him to return, let’s quickly run through some injury history. Chubb has had the same knee majorly reconstructed twice, but it doesn’t end there. He’s torn every single ligament in that knee at least once, many of them twice.
The Cleveland organization has already stated that they would like to see Chubb return to a normal workload at “some point in the second half of the season.” That’s not this Sunday, and with how poorly QB Deshaun Watson is playing, why bother risking a superstar’s health?
Even if Cooper wasn’t traded a few days ago, we’d still be rolling with Cleveland’s team total under 9.5 points (-110 at FanDuel Sportsbook) as the best bet from our Bengals vs. Browns predictions.

Bills signed CB Tre’Davious White, formerly of the Ravens, to a one-year, $6.8 million contract.
Bills waived TE Armani Rogers.
This is unfortunate. Rogers recently ruptured his Achilles tendon for the second time in three years. He showed promise as a 2022 rookie, earning a 65.3 PFF receiving grade and a 68.0 PFF run-blocking grade, but the injuries are taking their toll. The Bills also released DT Branson Deen.
Titans waived OT Nicholas Petit-Frere.
The team signed C Sam Mustipher and OT Oli Udoh in corresponding moves. Petit-Frere failed to meet expectations after the Titans spent a third-round pick on him in 2022, allowing 35-plus quarterback pressures in 2-of-3 NFL seasons.
Cowboys signed OL Hakeem Adeniji, formerly of the Browns, to a contract.
The former 2020 sixth-round pick last took regular season snaps in 2022. Adeniji spent the 2023 season serving as a part-time special teams player, and although he was technically on the Browns’ 2024 roster, he missed the full season on injured reserve. Adeniji will likely handle a deep-backup/special teams role in Dallas this year.
Free agent QB Aaron Rodgers said on The Pat McAfee Show that he is currently focusing on matters in his personal life while mulling his future in the NFL.
In a wide-ranging discussion with McAfee, Rodgers said that he is still contemplating whether to play in 2025 or retire this offseason, though he has settled on a $10 million asking price, should he choose to stick around. Rodgers repeatedly, yet ambiguously, emphasized that caring for troubled members of his “inner circle” has been his offseason priority. Rodgers spoke positively of his recent visit with the Steelers, praising head coach Mike Tomlin, OC Arthur Smith, GM Omar Khan, QB coach Tom Arth and WR DK Metcalf, whom he called “a specimen” and a “great dude.” Rodgers downplayed reports about pitching Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell on a union, saying much ado has been made about two old “friends” remaining in regular contact. The free agent QB also notably complimented Giants head coach Brian Daboll’s “beautiful football mind” but kept Giants-talk relatively succinct. Rodgers made clear that the rapidly approaching 2025 NFL Draft will have no bearing on his decision-making timeline, and he understands if the Steelers determine that they must move on without him. In short, it appears as though Rodgers will either sign with the Steelers or move on from football. The enigmatic quarterback gave few indications as to which direction he is leaning.
FOX NFL’s Jordan Schultz reports “interested teams believe Philadelphia would be open to future picks” for TE Dallas Goedert.
Goedert has become a popular trade candidate in the rumor mill. He is on the final year of his current contract and is undoubtedly looking for a new deal. The Eagles, on the other hand, haven’t made much noise about extending him and have generally tried to get out ahead of new contracts in recent years. The timing of this report suggests the Eagles are still trying to field offers for Goedert and the price may be dropping.
