Cardinals
We saw Edmonds finally get an increased workload in Week 7 following the injury to Kenyan Drake. The Cardinals are on a bye in Week 8 but with Drake expected to miss multiple weeks fantasy owners should be looking at Edmonds as a nice RB2 in most league formats. Expect Eno Benjamin to be active and act as the back up to Edmonds with Drake out.
Falcons
Todd Gurley's final carry ultimately cost the Falcons the game as he tripped himself into the end zone on a play where he was only supposed to get the first down so the team could run out the clock. That incident aside, the snaps and touches are all Gurley's as he looks to prove that he still has plenty left in the tank even given the reputation of his knees. The two touchdowns in Week 7 now give Gurley seven touchdowns on the season.
Bills
I think the even snap share is what we should be expecting from these two moving on. It's worth noting that Moss was the more productive of the two running backs and if that continues then he should have the inside lane as the team's primary back. Moss came out of training camp with a lot of fanfare but his injury stop that momentum. The Bills face off against a bad Patriots run defense in Week 8.
Panthers
Christian McCaffrey was nearly activated for Week 8 so those who roster Mike Davis get at least one more week of fantasy relevance. I expect CMC to be ready to go in Week 9.
Bears
As you can see, Montgomery is the only running back listed. Now, I know, Cordorelle Patterson does get carries but Monty's 83-percent snap share is truly what matters here. I also love that he saw yet another five targets in the team's passing attack. The Bears offense would benefit greatly to get Montgomery involed in the passing game early to set that tone and give defenses something else to worry about.
Bengals
It's looking unlikely that Joe Mixon suits up in Week 8 which means we get another week of Bernard here. It wasn't a great fantasy day for Bernard but he saved fantasy players who rostered him with a late touchdown to exceed his value.
Browns
Nick Chubb could be back after the Browns bye week and that will certainly cut into Hunt's snap share but for now it's clear that Cleveland has no interest in using anyone other than Hunt in their offense.
Cowboys
The Dallas offense is dreadful. They will be on their third starting quarterback this week and that does not bode well for Elliott here as teams will stack the box to stop the run. The two targets is also very dissapointing seeing how he had been used heavily in the passing attack in weeks prior.
Broncos
Phillip Lindsay suffered yet another injury which opened the door for Melvin Gordon to again be the lead back. Lindsay is still in the leagues concussion protocol which means Gordon is in line to be the featured back come Week 8 against his old team in the Chargers.
Lions
Hey, Swift finally saw the majority of the team's snaps but Adrian Peterson saw more carries and why what Kerryon Johnson on the field at all? I long for the day when Swift gets 60-percent of the snaps and somewhere near 15 carries a game.
Packers
It's looking like Aaron Jones is going to sit out Week 8 against the Vikings which means Williams will once again be the team's feature back. Williams is truly "Jones-lite" as he is a solid runner with excelent receiving ability.
Texans
Good to see David Johnson used more in the passing game in Week 7. The Texans are on a bye in Week 8 so let's see how the offense runs with a week to prepare for their next opponent. It's also worth noting the Texans appear to be one of the teams looking to sell at the upcoming deadline which means this offense could be looking a lot different next time the Texans take the field.
Jaguars
The man does it all and played 90-percent of the snaps. He is far and away the top fantasy pick up of the season for those of you who jumped at the chance to grab him after Fournette was let go.
Chiefs
It's too bad this game was a total blowout because we didn't really get a true feel for how Bell is going to be used in this team's offense. That said, he saw 33-percent of the team's snaps in his debut. Something closer to 60/40 moving forward would not completely shock me with Bell getting work inside the 20s.
Chargers
Kelly so most of the volume but once again he was far from exciting. Jackson was dealing with a minor injury but when back to 100-percent I strongly feel that this job is going to be his with Kelley acting as more of a handcuff than anything else.
Rams
If Cam Akers doesn't get on the field in Week 8 against the Dolphins then I just don't understand what McVey's plan is for him. As for fantasy owners, I think it's safe to drop him at this point. The backfield is a clear split between Henderson and Brown baring injury.
Patriots
As long as Cam Newton is under center in New England it is impossible to trust any of these options. James White would be the guy for me but he only saw 10 snaps in Week 7 which makes little to no sense.
Saints
Kamara continues to be a monster in the team's passing attack and while the carries with him and Murray remain similar, there is no question as to who the lead back is there in New Orleans. Michael Thomas is expected to return soon, his impact on Kamara will be one to watch.
Giants
Devonta Freeman went down with an injury in this one which opened the door for Gallman to again take over as the lead back. It's looking unlikely that Freeman plays in the Giants Week 8 contest against a tough Buccaneers defense.
Jets
It was great to see Perine play 70-percent of the snaps but I don't know why he and Gore both saw 11 carries. If you are going to play the rookie then give him the football and see what he can do.
Eagles
With Miles Sanders sidelined it was Boston Scott making the most of his oppurtunity against the Giants in Week 7. He will get to build upon this performance in Week 8 against the Cowboys as it doesn't seem likely that Sanders will be ready to go come Sunday night.
Steelers
While a lot of running backs saw time this past week for the Steelers against the Titans it is pretty clear that nobody touches James Conner. As long as Conner is healthy fantasy owners can rely on him to be their RB1 each week.
Seahawks
Seattle is a mess right now with Carson, Hyde and Homer all dealing with various ailments which leaves Dallas as the healthiest of the bunch. None of the aforementioned running backs have been ruled out for the team's Week 8 contest so fantasy owners will have to monitor the practice reports to see who is likely to suit up against a tough 49ers defense.
49ers
The 49ers could be getting Tevin Coleman back soon which is nice since they just had to put Jeffery Wilson on IR. The week prior it was Raheem Mostert landing on IR so the team is hurting. Going into Week 8 against the Seahawks we should expect Jerick McKinnon to take on a bigger role after his "load management" game against the Patriots last week.
Buccaneers
Big blow for Ronald Jones owners as Fournette returned and not only looked great but was also heavily involed in the team's passing attack. Head coach Bruce Arians said that Fournette will be used in the team's hurry up offense and passing down situations which means Jones is likely going to be very touchdown dependent as long as Fournette is healthy.
Titans
Two words -- Derrick Henry -- Oh yeah, the calendar is also fillping to November which is when Henry's season usually sees him turn into "Beast Mode".
Washington
Finally got that monster game out of Antonio Gibson and it shouldn't have been a surprise that it came in a game that the Washington team dominated. Those who still roster McKissic need not to worry as his passing skills will be needed in games where the opponent is not the lowly Dallas Cowboys.
