NFL Draft prospects don’t get much more exciting than Ashton Jeanty. Jeanty entered the 2024 college season as a top running back prospect, but no one saw the season he had coming. Jeanty put the entire world on notice as he produced one of the best running back seasons in college history.

If it wasn’t for Travis Hunter having an amazing two-way season, Jeanty may have won the Heisman trophy as the top player in college football. As one of the few blue-chip prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft, it will be interesting to see where Jeanty gets drafted.

Ashton Jeanty NFL Draft Landing Spot

It’s hard to project where Ashton Jeanty will be drafted. Over the last handful of years, running backs have been devalued by the NFL, and we’ve seen fewer and fewer of them being drafted in the first round of the NFL Draft. Most years we still get 1 or 2, but there are still drafts like 2022 and 2023 where none did. But Jeanty is one of the best running back prospects we’ve seen in recent history.

He’s a complete player who’s dynamic as both a runner and receiver, and an offense can be run through him. With there being some running back-needy teams like Las Vegas, Chicago, and Denver in the top 20 picks, it’s easy to think he could go in the first round to one of them where’d have a featured role and likely be a workhorse.

Ashton Jeanty NFL Draft Combine

The NFL Combine was mostly just an event for Ashton Jeanty to get official measurements and meet with teams, as he did not participate in any drills. It’s no surprise that he didn’t participate in drills, though, as there aren't any real questions about who he is. Jeanty’s college film and stats speak for themselves.

He did measure slightly short at 5’8 ½”, but Jeanty is extremely well built at his height, alleviating any concerns about size. Jeanty did, however, run drills at his pro day where he naturally looked the part. His burst and agility are obvious even after a quick watch of Jeanty running through drills.

Ashton Jeanty Stats at Boise State

Ashton Jeanty first put his name on the map as a sophomore when he had over 1,900 total yards and 19 total touchdowns. During that season, he particularly impressed as a receiver out of the backfield, catching 43 passes. Then his junior season happened and blew everyone away. Jeanty ran for an astounding 2,601 yards and 29 touchdowns, finishing just shy of Barry Sanders' college single-season rushing record.

Even more astounding, Jeanty’s 1,970 rushing yards after contact would have finished second among all running backs in rushing yards for the season. Additionally, he led college football with 152 missed tackles forced, 49 more than the next highest player. Jeanty’s junior season was as good as it gets.

Ashton Jeanty Draft Odds

Naturally, Ashton Jeanty is a massive favorite to be the first running back drafted at -5000. Starting at the fifth pick, Jeanty’s odds start to become realistic for him to be drafted. Jeanty is +300 to be drafted fifth overall.

As the draft has drawn near, it’s become so likely that Jeanty gets drafted sixth overall, presumably by the Raiders, that I can’t find lines for him to be drafted at that time. The Raiders drafting Jeanty just makes sense. His floor for when he could get drafted seems to be the Bears, another option where it’s hard to find betting lines for it.

Ashton Jeanty is an explosive playmaker who can be used as a workhorse in the NFL. Whatever team drafts him will be able to run their offense through him and find plenty of success doing so.
