Abdul Carter is part of the new breed of pass rushers like Micah Parsons. Built like a larger linebacker but beyond explosive and athletic for the position. Even before the 2024 college season was over, Carter was projected to be one of the top picks in the 2025 NFL Draft as easily the best edge rusher available.

Carter’s blend of power and speed is hard to find, giving him the potential to be a game wrecker in the NFL. Carter is easily one of the best players available in the draft. Let’s see where he could end up.

Abdul Carter NFL Draft Landing Spot

The landing spot for Abdul Carter is narrower than the average prospect. As the best rusher in the draft and a true elite prospect, Carter will undoubtedly go at the top of the draft. With a top edge rusher like Carter, every team is a fit, and it would make sense for every team to draft him regardless of their current roster.

In the NFL, you can never have enough pass rushers. The Titans, Giants, Patriots, and every other team drafting early would love to have Carter. Even a team like the Browns, who already have one of the league’s top pass rushers in Myles Garrett, could take Carter, and it makes sense.

Abdul Carter NFL Draft Combine

Unsurprisingly, Abdul Carter didn’t participate in any of the drills at the NFL Combine. Instead, he chose to just get measured and meet with teams. Interestingly, though, it was revealed during the Combine that Carter is dealing with a stress reaction in his right foot, which could turn into a fracture if not handled properly.

Carter has chosen not to have surgery and was unable to take part in his Pro Day as well. Carter’s college film was so impressive, though, that this hasn’t negatively affected his draft stock. Luckily, Carter is expected to be healthy by the season, and it shouldn’t interfere with his rookie season.

Abdul Carter Stats at Penn State

Abdul Carter was a solid edge rusher for his first two seasons in college but made a name for himself as a junior as he was able to put all his tools and athleticism together. Carter led the nation in tackles for a loss and was top five in both hurries and sacks.

This led him to be second in the FBS in PFF pass rush grade for the 2024 season. Carter even made a mark in coverage over his time in college, playing 26.9% of his snaps in that way, showing he has some versatility. All this while opposing offenses did their best to stop him, as one of the true defensive difference makers there was.

Abdul Carter Draft Odds

Betting odds favor Abdul Carter being drafted within the top three picks. It’s no surprise, as for a long time, he was considered in contention for the first overall pick. But as of now, Cam Ward is the overwhelming favorite to be the first pick in the draft, leaving Carter to likely be drafted second or third.

Carter is the second favorite to be drafted second overall at +600 and the favorite to go third overall at -650. With Travis Hunter being the favorite to be drafted second, most have Carter projected to be the third pick, backing up the betting odds.

Abdul Carter is the type of pass rusher who can give offensive coordinators nightmares. His ability to explode past offensive linemen and create havoc in the backfield is going to make the team that drafts him very happy.
