Welcome to the DFS Dart Board for NFL Week 4!

How goes your GPP lineup construction so far? With most people investing in the Miami Dolphins/Buffalo Bills game, it's tough to fit in top-priced plays like Christian McCaffrey, Keenan Allen and T.J. Hockenson. To try and have it all, you're going to have to dig deep for some bargain plays, whether it's on DraftKings or FanDuel. Fortunately, we've got our shovels out and we've done the work for you.

If you're new to Fantasy Alarm, the DFS Dart Board is an add-on to the Playbook that I started several years ago. It came about when I was building GPP lineups and realized I needed more salary relief. As I dug through my notes to see who stood out the most among those players at a more affordable price, it hit me. When I put players in the Playbook, I am thinking primarily about cash lineup plays -- guys with a high floor who I could conceivably put into my core-group and build a lineup around. After those players, I would mix in a handful of guys who had boatloads of upside and were in soft match-ups, but I wasn’t paying as much attention to their salary as I should have. And that's where the Dart Board came into play.

Occasionally you may see a min-priced QB or TE in here, but more often than not, this space is reserved for running backs and wide receivers who are below $6,000 on FanDuel or $5,000 or lower on DraftKings. Also, while we call this a Dart Board, keep in mind that every player has been carefully researched. We're not up here picking players all willy-nilly, desperately hoping they hit. We're looking for the cheapest bargains possible who still have the strongest potential to give you at least a 3-5x return on what you pay.

**Update: Removed RB Elijah Mitchell who is not expected to play, according to Adam Schefter.

All set? Great. Let's get to it and while you do, maybe give a listen to this week's NFL DFS Show with me & Jon Impemba.

RBCam AkersMIN @ CAR Sun 1:0049005500

We've got Alexander Mattison in the main Playbook, but if you're a multi-lineup builder, then getting some exposure to Akers in a large-field GPP tournament is going to be a good idea. Head coach Kevin O'Connell and OC Wes Phillips were with the Rams when Akers was drafted and they've run the offense with him in the backfield. With Mattison's issues – dropped passes and a terrible case of the fumbles – we could see Akers' debut this week and immediately see him push for touches. The Panthers run defense is soft, so pay attention.

Yes, the Bears are a hot mess, but while we don't believe Denver's defense is 70-points bad each week, they are still extremely vulnerable. Khalil Herbert might be leading the way in snaps, but Johnson is a VERY close second and has also seen more targets than Herbert has as well. The Broncos rank 30th in DVOA against running back pass-plays and if they start to fall behind, you can expect to see more of Johnson on the field in the second half. He's a better play on DK due to the full-point PPR scoring.

WRRashid ShaheedTB @ NO Sun 1:0040005800

He's been incredibly dynamic this year as both a pass-catching deep threat and a return man as well. While Jameis Winston is going to likely focus on Michael Thomas and Chris Olave, we know he's going to take a number of shots downfield and if Shaeed gets behind the Bucs defensive backs, he'll be off to the races.

WRMarvin MimsDEN @ CHI Sun 1:0039005400

He only plays a 25% snap share and last week's five-target game as more likely a product of the blowout, but this Bears defense is horrendous and we could see Russell Wilson taking some shots downfield. He's seem just nine targets on the year, but he's done a ton with them, posting seven catches for 195 yards and one touchdown. Like most of the receivers here, he's a shot in the dark who saves you salary and gives you long touchdown upside.

WRQuentin JohnstonLV @ LAC Sun 4:0537005200

We have to add in Johnston here even though Palmer is a pay-down in the Playbook because, if you analyze the data from last year on a little more granular of a level, you'll see that Palmer excelled better when filling in for Allen than we did when filling in for Williams. That's because he was working out of the slot a lot more often. We know Allen plays out of the slot for roughly 65% of his snaps, so that should put Johnston on the field for plenty of three-receiver sets. He's 6-ffot-4 and can stretch the field with his speed, so look for some deep shots downfield for the rookie this week.

Obviously Diontae Johnson is out, but it looks like Allen Robinson is banged-up and might miss the game or, at the least, be limited on the field. We were on him two weeks ago and it didn't work but last week he had two grabs for 72 yards and a touchdown. If he continues to see the five or six targets he's averaged over the first three games, something is going to pop for us with him.

TETanner HudsonCIN @ TEN Sun 1:0025004000

Here is the ultimate TE dart-throw provided to you by Andrew Cooper. He has it in the DFS TE Coach and he talked him up on Friday's SiriusXM show. If Irv Smith Jr is out again, you'll have to watch for the Bengals to bring him back up from the practice squad. When they did last week, he actually led the team's tight ends in snaps, routes-run and targets. It's a super-deep dive, but the Titans are allowing an average of 45 receiving yards per game to the position and 8.6 fantasy points per game to them. If he posts close to double-digit fantasy points, he is easily paying off this salary.
