NBA DFS Value Vault October 28: Shaedon Sharpe is a Top Value Play for Portland Trail Blazers
We have a huge 11-game main slate tonight over on DraftKings and Fanduel. With 22 teams in play tonight we have some huge names on the slate including Giannis Antetokounmpo, Nikola Jokic, LeBron James, and Joel Embiid. To get a few of those high-priced guys in your lineup, you will need to find some value plays. There are plenty on this slate with the injury bug going through the NBA right now. Let’s dive into today’s NBA DFS top value plays for Friday, October 28th.
DraftKings DFS Value Plays
Cedi Osman, Cleveland Cavaliers ($4,900)
I have played Osman a few times since Darius Garland has been out with an eye injury. Osman has just been incredibly solid during that span scoring at least 23 FP in four games. Osman is averaging 15 points off the bench this season. He is also seeing consistent minutes each night, no less than 26 in four games. This gives you confidence in starting him, as he is an important part out on the wing for this Cavaliers team, and even seeing minutes in crunch time.
Devonte' Graham, New Orleans Pelicans ($4,500)
Devonte Graham is such an intriguing player. A few years ago we saw him filling up the stats sheet on bad Hornets teams and he gets moved to the Pelicans, and just hasn't gotten a ton of minutes. That changed last game with all the injuries for the Pelicans as we saw Graham play 27 minutes. He took advantage scoring 14 points and 21 FP. We are still in a similar situation with injuries with this Pelicans team who are without Brandon Ingram and CJ McCollum, Herb Jones, Jose Alverado, and Zion Williamson are all questionable. Monitor this Pelicans situation, Graham could be a great play tonight.
Shaedon Sharpe, Portland Trail Blazers ($4,400)
If tonight was ever a night to pay down at point guard, it would have to be tonight. We are kind of following the injury trend tonight for this article today, and this is no different. Damian Lillard is out tonight, so that opens up the door for rookie guard Shaedon Sharpe to possibly get the start. His price shot up $1,000 compared to his last game, but it's still a great play. He played 21 minutes last game and was awesome scoring 15 points and corraling eight rebounds for 27 FP. If he gets 30 minutes tonight, Sharpe will return great value tonight.
FanDuel DFS Value Plays
R.J. Hampton, Orlando Magic ($4,800)
Hampton is a better play on Fanduel than he is on DraftKings with a $400 difference. We haven't seen much from him so far this season, but we will tonight. Orlando is missing Jalen Suggs, Cole Anthony, and Markelle Fultz at the point guard position so Hampton will be forced into action tonight. We have seen Hampton produce when he has gotten the minutes. During the 2020 season, He averaged 25 minutes and averaged 11 points per game, so he can score the basketball.
The matchup against Charlette is great tonight as well, we saw Jalen Brunson go absolutely bananas against them the other night. The Hornets and Magic are both in the top half of the NBA in pace, so there should be plenty of opportunities for Hampton to score tonight.
Doug McDermott, San Antonio Spurs ($4,000)
The injury bug has hit the Spurs as well with Joshua Primo and Devin Vassell not suiting up tonight, which opens up things for Doug McDermott. Those two missed the last game and McDermott played 24 minutes, and the sharpshooter went 4-8 from downtown and scored 19 points finishing with 26.1 FP. He could put up similar numbers against the Chicago Bulls tonight, who struggle allowing open looks from the three-point line. It is also a revenge game for McDermott if you're into that. Expect McDermott to bring you great value tonight against his old team.
Troy Brown Jr. Los Angeles Lakers ($3,600)
If you want to pay down even further than McDermott at the small forward position on FanDuel, Troy Brown is your man. Russell Westbrook will be back for the Lakers tonight, but now they are missing Juan Toscano-Anderson, so Brown should still see around 25 minutes. Brown has played 22, and 27 minutes over his last two and delivered 13.3 FP and 20 FP. He is a solid part of this rotation as the Lakers need him to contribute as they continue to look for shooting somewhere on the roster. If you are looking for a dart throw for large tournaments I'd take a long look at Brown.
