DraftKings
Terrence Ross, SF ORL ($4,600)
It’s hard to call Ross anything more than a disappointment over his first two games this year. Despite playing more than 24 minutes in both and posting a 20% usage, Ross has done little more than provide an empty 13.5 points per game. Another game against the New York Knicks (18th in Pace) should be a big boost to several Magic players (30th in Pace), however. Assuming no 30-point blowout like two days ago, Ross should be back to the healthy source of points, threes, and steals we saw last year.
De’Anthony Melton, PG/SG MEM ($4,200)
Melton is getting his shot with Dillon Brooks on the shelf to start the season, and so far, he hasn’t missed. After back-to-back games with 20+ points, 30+ minutes and 20% usage, it’s clear that the Grizzlies see him as an offensive priority in this early part of the season. If Melton continues to put 15 shots per game and contribute with rebounds (5.5 per game) and assists (2.5 per game), he is going to be a steal until his salary increases drastically.
FanDuel
Wendell Carter, PF/C ORL ($5,400)
Another value Magic player who benefits from a pace-up spot is Carter, who just put up a 10-point, 11-rebound double-double with four assists, a steal, and a block against these same Knicks. Carter has the best point-per-dollar projection among big men across many DFS platforms and should hover in the 26-minute, 20% usage range.
Daniel Theis PF/C, HOU ($4,200)
Revenge game narrative, anyone? At just $4,200 Theis is cheaper than several other power forwards such as Kenyon Martin, Obi Toppin and Marvin Bagley who should play far fewer minutes on Sunday. Theis will not have the usage of a Christian Wood or Kevin Porter, Jr. but should play a boatload minutes in the trenches against the formidable Boston frontcourt of Al Horford and Grant Williams.
Yahoo!
Josh Richardson SG, BOS ($10)
Whether Jaylen Brown plays against Houston or not, Richardson is a strong value play at the minimum price on Yahoo. It’s simply too cheap for a player who has a floor of 20+ minutes per night to go along with 15%-20% usage. Richardson has scored in double figures off the bench in the Celtics first two games, and now gets to face Houston, another team in the top-13 in Pace so far this season. Richardson’s ceiling is massive if he starts in place of Brown, with the trade-off being he will be uber-chalky.
Desmond Bane SF, MEM ($10)
The fact that Yahoo hasn’t raised Bane’s salary after his first two games is simply ludicrous. Bane averages 20.5 points, 26% usage and 30 minutes per game in the early going. He has scored more than 30 Yahoo points each game and now gets a game environment upgrade against the Los Angeles Lakers who rank second in Pace in this young season.
