We have a start-studded NBA DFS Showdown tonight between the Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers. The Celtics are led by Jayson Tatum who is one of the favorites to win MVP and Jaylen Brown who is playing the best basketball of his career. The Lakers come into this one struggling a bit, but on the plus side, Anthony Davis is looking like bubble AD from a few seasons ago.

NBA DFS Showdown Slate Picks

MVP/CAPTAIN
Anthony Davis, Los Angeles Lakers

Anthony Davis is the highest-priced player on the slate and he deserves to be the way he has played. Outside the game, he got injured and left early Davis has scored over 70 fantasy points in three of his last four games. He just has a ceiling like no other on this slate, especially if Boston doesn't have a rim protector in this one. Davis is the safest play at the captain spot tonight as long as he stays on the court.

Jayson Tatum, Boston Celtics

Tatum has been solid over the past six games, but nothing too crazy. He is averaging 43 fantasy points per game during that span and has hit at least 50 fantasy points in two of those six games. We know if he is feeling it one night that he can pop off for a 70-spot just less opportunity than Anthony Davis to do so. With it being only a $300 difference, I clearly like Davis better than Tatum tonight.

LeBron James, Los Angeles Lakers

Lebron is about as safe of a play as possible when he is on the court. The $2,100 price difference between him and Davis also may make him the better play at the captain spot as well tonight. over his last five games he is averaging 50 fantasy points. He may not have the ceiling Davis has but the floor is there. Get Lebron in your lineup tonight if possible.

Jaylen Brown, Boston Celtics

Talk about a guy who has been on a tear recently, Jaylen Brown has put up two 60-point fantasy performances in December. He has simply outplayed Jayson Tatum over the past 5-6 games. Brown is the cheapest of these four but has the closest ceiling to Anthony Davis heading into this one. If you want to build with a cheaper guy at your captain spot tonight, Brown is your guy.

UTILITY

Russell Westbrook, Los Angeles Lakers

We had thought that maybe Westbrook's numbers would take a hit with Dennis Schroeder back from injury. However, that has just not been the case. He is averaging 26 minutes in his last six games which is down a bit, but he is still averaging 36 fantasy points a night. He is a bit pricey, but if you can fit him in he is a solid play.

Marcus Smart, Boston Celtics

Smart is coming off a clunker of a game and if you played him last night he most likely killed your lineup. Let me tell ya, Smart will not do that again. He is still playing over 30 minutes a game and has scored at least 21 fantasy points in his other four games previous to last night. I like Smart in this matchup with the Lakers guards being Smaller, Smart should be able to use his size and strength to outplay them.

Malcolm Brogdon, Boston Celtics

With Smart having an awful game last night, is was Brogdon who helped pick up the pieces. Brogdon finished with 18 points six assists and four rebounds, not a bad night at the office. It will be interesting to see how many minutes he will play on the second night of a back-to-back, and he played 32 minutes last night. Even if he is limited to 20-22 minutes tonight, he could still give you solid numbers tonight.

DART THROWS

Austin Reaves, Los Angeles Lakers

Austin Rivers is a very underrated player for this Lakers team. He has played at least 25 minutes in his last five games. Over his last three games, he has scored 17 fantasy points twice and went nuts for 39 fantasy points in one game, and 25 real points. Why pay up for Lonnie Walker when you can get Reaves and they do the same things?

Blake Griffin, Boston Celtics

Griffin has started at center for Al Horford over the past five games and has done a solid job. He has played at least 20 minutes in each game and has scored at least 20 fantasy points in four of the five games. You have to get Griffin in your lineup if you want a couple of studs, and I am fine with that.
