NBA Showdown Playbook April 6: Denver Nuggets vs Phoenix Suns NBA DFS Picks
We have an intriguing Western Conference matchup tonight as the Denver Nuggets travel to Phoenix to take on the Suns. While the Nuggets have the better record, the Suns have Kevin Durant and the homecourt advantage which leads to a lopsided 10.5-point line for the home team. The main issue to consider is the health status of Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray as that certainly can influence how the night turns out. Let us break down some options to consider as we build out our NBA DFS Showdown Slate lineups for tonight.

MVP/Captain
Kevin Durant, Phoenix Suns
Durant is coming off a subpar shooting performance as he made just six of 14 shots from the field on Tuesday against the Spurs after he broke 30 points in three of his last four games. The majority of Durant’s production has come from the scoring perspective as of late, but there is always the possibility of him going off from the perspective of rebounds and assists as we are still dealing with one of the best players in the game. With that being said, Durant is still shaking off the rust but that is also taken into account with his pricing.
Nikola Jokic, Denver Nuggets
The main question here is whether or not the Nuggets will force the issue with Jokic tonight as he is dealing with calf tightness. But even if he is limited, Jokic’s production is still better than most after he played 24 minutes on Tuesday and finished with a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds along with four assists and three blocks. There are few players more efficient than Jokic.
Devin Booker, Phoenix Suns
Booker continues to break the 20 point mark with ease on a nightly basis as he is averaging a strong 25.8 points, 5.8 assists, and 4.8 rebounds per game in his last five. That has become pretty standard for Booker this season and the guard has not seemed to be impacted by the return of Durant either or limited minutes as he continues to hum right along. The fact that this game is important for Phoenix’s postseason also helps here.
Utility
Bruce Brown, Denver Nuggets
Someone does have to play for Denver and the fact that Brown doesn’t have an injury designation is no small feat for tonight. While he only made two of six shots from the field in 29 minutes on Tuesday, the volume will be there once again for Brown and that cannot be overlooked. As a more representative look at Brown, he is averaging 14.6 points per game in his last five along with a few rebounds and assists, but we do have a decent floor here.
Deandre Ayton, Phoenix Suns
Ayton is coming off two identical performances of 19 points and 11 rebounds and a potentially shorthanded or limited Denver team could help to make his life easier. The center has been a strong option all season at 18 points and 10 rebounds per game, and for the most part, the consistency has been there.
Aaron Gordon, Denver Nuggets
The fact that Gordon has been playing through his shoulder issue for over a month is a good sign for his status tonight. At 16.3 points per game this year we are seeing Gordon perform at a good level offensively and thanks to 7.4 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game in his last five, the forward is doing a great job of filling the stat sheet.
Dart Throw
Jeff Green, Denver Nuggets
Green has not played less than 17 minutes per game over his last five as the veteran continues to do a good job of filling in the gaps off the bench for Denver, a larger role could be in the cards for him tonight. At nine points, five rebounds, and three assists on Tuesday, Green turned in a solid effort, and had he made more than two of seven shots from the field, things would look even better.
Christian Braun, Denver Nuggets
It won’t take much for Braun to find his way into more minutes, and therefore more shots. Braun has played at least 23 minutes in three of his last four games, he could end up having a busy night.
