For tonight's NBA DFS Showdown slate we have a late game between the San Antonio Spurs and the Los Angeles Clippers. We have some big names on this slate with Kawhi Leonard returning from injury in the Clippers last game, as he joins Paul George. The Spurs two best players, Keldon Johnson and Devin Vassell carry injury designations in this one, so that is something to keep an eye on. Johnson has been upgraded to probable, and Vassell is questionable. The Clippers are favored by nine-point favorites in this one, so we could see a blowout, something to keep in mind when you are building your lineups. Now, let's dive into the NBA DFS Showdown between the San Antonio Spurs and Los Angeles Clippers.

NBA DFS Showdown Slate Picks

MVP/Captain

Paul George, Los Angeles Clippers

Paul George is the clear-cut choice for the captain spot in this one. This is still his team with Kawhi working himself back from injury and he showed that Thursday night. He struggled from the field however going 5-16 and only scoring 16 points, but he saved his fantasy point with nine rebounds. George is a tough matchup for the Spurs in this one, so I expect him to have a bounceback night tonight against a bad Spurs defense that ranks dead last in defensive efficiency.

Keldon Johnson, San Antonio Spurs

Keldon Johnson sat out the Spurs last game with an ankle injury as he was a late scratch. He is probable heading into this one, but it is not a great matchup. Johnson is averaging a career-high 22 points a game, but drawing Paul George in this matchup could be tough. The last time these two teams matched up Johnson finished 7-19 from the field for 30 fantasy points. Johnson is a solid play tonight, I just do not love him at the captain spot tonight.

Devin Vassell, San Antonio Spurs

With no Keldon Johnson on Thursday night, we saw Devin Vassell go bananas against the Kings. Vassell shot 11-19 from the field and scored 29 points and had three assists and three rebounds for 42.25 fantasy points. I absolutely love the way Vassell plays and the sharpshooter is shooting 42% from behind the arc on the season. In the last game, these two teams matched up Vassell scored 35 fantasy points. If you want to pivot away from George and go with low-captain play, Vassell is your guy tonight.

Update: Devin Vassell has been ruled out

Utility

Kawhi Leonard, Los Angeles Clippers

I wanted to mention Kawhi in this one even though I don't really think he is a good play. It was great to see Kawhi play 25 minutes against the Pistons, however, you can see that the rust is there. Leonard shot 2-8 from the field and 0-3 from behind the arc for just 18.25 fantasy points. I just hate where he is priced tonight with him still at $9,200. I need to see it from Kawhi before I jump in with him at that price.

Jakob Poeltl, San Antonio Spurs

It's the battle of two old-school big men in the post tonight between Jakob Poeltl and Ivica Zubac. Poeltl is coming into this one with a questionable tag, so make sure you keep an eye on that. Over Poeltl's last five games, he is averaging a 16/10 double-double with 37 fantasy points per game. The last time Zubac and Poeltl matched up he did have a quiet night with just a 4/7/3 line finishing with 24 fantasy points. I still expect Poeltl to be solid in this one.

Ivica Zubac, Los Angeles Clippers

Zubac is coming off a game in which he played a season-high 40 minutes. He was just a rebounding machine against the Pistons hauling in another season-high 18 rebounds and the Clippers needed every one of those. Zubac is a huge part of what the Clippers need to do to succeed. Zubac won the battle of the big men in the first matchup between these two finishing with a season-high 48 fantasy points. Zubac is a must-play in this one for me.

Tre Jones, San Antonio Spurs

Tre Jones is a solid, steady, presence for this Spurs team. He doesn't do anything great, but he does a lot of things really well and that is evident in his with him averaging 12 PPG just over three rebounds, and almost seven assists. Jones is also very steady as a fantasy player as well just scoring under 24 fantasy points once this season. Jones is about as safe as you can get, and you can almost count on 25-35 fantasy points on any given night.

Dart Throw

Norman Powell, Los Angeles Clippers

Before the Clippers last two games we saw Norman Powell start to get into a rhythm. He has a four-game span in which he scored between 22-28 fantasy points in each of those games. That was great to see considering he looked absolutely awful. With Leonard back in the lineup last game, Powell was still ok scoring 14 points off the bench in 23 minutes for 18.5 fantasy points. If you need a salary saver in your lineup, I believe Norman Powell is your guy tonight.
