NBA DFS Showdown Playbook For DraftKings & FanDuel: Suns vs. Lakers
Published: Oct 25, 2024
Friday's night's NBA DFS slate finishes up with a marquee Western Conference matchup between the Phoenix Suns and the Los Angeles Lakers and over on DraftKings and FanDuel we have a big NBA DFS Showdown slate for us to build some winning lineups for as we look to Anthony Davis, LeBron James and Kevin Durant to lead this star-studded matchup.
NBA DFS Showdown Picks & Playbook: Suns vs. Lakers Game Preview
This Suns vs Lakers matchup has a 226.5 game total with the Lakers 1.5-point home favorites. On opening night the Lakers took down the Minnesota Timberwolves as Anthony Davis exploded for 36 points, 16 rebounds and four assists. Lebron James had a rather reserved night, scoring just 16 points with five rebounds and four assists.
For the Suns, we saw them defeat the Clippers in overtime as Kevin Durant scored a team high 25 points while Bradley Beal scored 24 and Devin Booker just 15.
With all the top tier talent on these two teams the NBA DFS showdown lineups will be interesting as we look to see who would make the best captain/mvp and what we can do with the salaries to make everyone fit for the highest possible scoring lineup.
NBA DFS Showdown MVP Captain Picks For Suns vs. Lakers On ESPN
Anthony Davis, Los Angeles Lakers
I mean, obviously. On a slate full of star players, Davis had the biggest boom on opening night as he scored 36 points with 16 rebounds, four assists, three blocks and a steal. Tonight he will be matched up against Jusuf Nurkic who is a decent defender but with Davis' ability to now stretch the floor and shoot from three-point range, it will be hard to imagine Nurkic completely shuts him down, if he stood any chance to begin with.
Kevin Durant, Phoenix Suns
With the Suns, Durant actually had a rather off night overall despite leading the team in scoring but that just goes to show you exactly what his ceiling can be on this slate. Yes, he likely draws some tough matchups with Anthony Davis or Lebron James taking him defensively but I'd still be willing to bet on Durant turning it on if this game ends up the way we figure it will.
Lebron James, Los Angeles Lakers
James got the minutes but it's hard for him to have a monster night when Davis was cooking the way he was. That said, we know that James is always a threat for a triple-double and with another home matchup and with his son on the squad, we can expect to see him have a vintage Lebron game sooner or later.
Devin Booker, Phoenix Suns
While it was Bradley Beal who scored 24 points , it is Devin Booker who has the highest ceiling of the duo. I mean this is a guy we saw have 70 actual points in a game before and he is more than capable of facilitating the offense and racking up the fantasy points.
Mid-Tier Plays & NBA DFS Picks For Suns vs. Lakers
Bradley Beal, Phoenix Suns
As I mentioned, it was Beal that was second in scoring on opening night for the Suns and on a night-to-night basis we probably see any one of Durant, Beal and Booker being the top guy for Phoenix. His debut season with the Suns was often interrupted by injury but Beal is still a great offensive player who can get some steals and add some assists to his box score.
Austin Reaves, Los Angeles Lakers
Reaves didn't exactly have the biggest opening night, like most of the Lakers not named Anthony Davis, but he still is playing more on the ball and has the ability to fill up the stat sheet. Figures to be a pretty popular option here in the mid-tier of most lineup builds.
Tyus Jones, Phoenix Suns
I really like Tyus Jones tonight. I loved the signing by the Suns as Jones will play the true point guard position which will give him the opportunity to flirt with double-doubles on a nightly basis. On opening night we saw him score 11 points with eight assists, two rebounds, two steals and block.
Rui Hachimura, Los Angeles Lakers
Hachimura played 35 minutes on opening night and finished with 18 points, five rebounds, one assist, one block and two steals. We saw Hachimura have quite a few strong performances last year so I won't be writing this off as a one-time thing, especially on a showdown slate.
Suns vs. Lakers DFS Value Picks For Friday, October 25
Jaxon Hayes, Los Angeles Lakers
Nobody on the Lakers bench played more than 17 minutes so let's take a look at a player that could have the most upside in Jaxon Hayes. As the backup center on this team Hayes does offer some rebounding, scoring and shot blocking potential which allows for the potential for him to reach 18-20 fantasy points in less than 20 minutes of play. On opening night he saw just 15 minutes but had 10 points, four rebound and a block for 17 fantasy points.
Mason Plumlee, Phoenix Suns
Defending Anthony Davis is a tough ask for anyone and this could lead to Jusuf Nurkic getting into some foul trouble. If that ends up the case then Mason Plumlee could be in line for an increased workload. Similar to Hayes, Plumlee played just 14 minutes on opening night and finished with eight points, two rebounds, one assist and one block for 13.5 fantasy points. That's a fantasy point per minute and that's what we are looking for, especially if he gets more playing time.
