NBA DFS Playbook February 9: Top DraftKings and FanDuel Picks
Published: Feb 09, 2023
Talk about some NBA Trade Deadline drama! We though that they had enough with Kyrie Irving being moved on Saturday, and then things were kicked up a notch with Russell Westbrook being jettisoned from Los Angeles with D'Angelo Russell heading to the Lakers. And then while most of us were sleeping, Kevin Durant was traded to the Suns which means Phoenix will be extremely short-handed tonight. We have a four game NBA DFS Main Slate on our hands, so let us take a look at some options to consider while building our lineups. Keep an eye on the updated news throughout the day, and make sure to utilize all of our NBA DFS tools.

---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
PG | Trae Young | PHX @ ATL Thu 7:30 | 9100 | 45.3 | 9400 | 43.1 |
With the Suns moving key players for Kevin Durant, the expectation is that it might be a one-sided affair tonight and Young should lead those efforts for the Hawks. Young is coming off a poor shooting night on Tuesday making just four of 14 shots from the field although he did finish with 16 assists. Game Type: CASH & GPP | ||||||
PG | Dejounte Murray | 8700 | 0 | 8800 | 0 | |
After seeing a spike in his price on DK earlier in the week, half of that value has been returned for Murray. The guard has been having a solid season in his first year with the Hawks and he is in the midst of a strong five game stretch in which he is averaging 24.2 points, eight assists, and 5.6 rebounds. Game Type: CASH & GPP | ||||||
PG | Spencer Dinwiddie | 8100 | 0 | 7900 | 0 | |
Dinwiddie is set to make his debut for the Nets tonight after having a few days to get acclimated to Brooklyn and the playbook. He is in position to carry the load offensively for Brooklyn, and when Luka Doncic was sidelined recently, Dinwiddie had games of 35 and 36 points so we know he can certainly put the ball in the hoop. Game Type: CASH & GPP | ||||||
PG | Jrue Holiday | 7700 | 0 | 7800 | 0 | |
Holiday has a strong matchup tonight against the Lakers as he looks to bounce back from a rough shooting stretch in which he is at 41% in his last five games although he isn't hurting for volume. Tonight's matchup should put him in position to bounce back tonight. Game Type: CASH & GPP | ||||||
PG | Chris Paul | 7300 | 0 | 8100 | 0 | |
Paul had stepped up offensively lately, but he has been struggling as of late with a combined 29 points in his last four games. With Devin Booker out and Mikal Bridges and Cameron Johnson traded, Paul certainly is in position to carry the load offensively tonight. Game Type: CASH & GPP | ||||||
PG | Markelle Fultz | DEN @ ORL Thu 7:00 | 5700 | 33.2 | 6500 | 33.5 |
Fultz has been playing at least 30 minutes per game as of late and he is also picking things up offensively. He is shooting 57% from the field in his last five games while averaging 16.4 points and 5.2 assists and it is a good matchup for him against the Nuggets tonight. Game Type: CASH & GPP | ||||||
PG | Dennis Schröder | 5000 | 0 | 5600 | 0 | |
With Russell Westbrook traded, there is a hole in the offensive pecking order for the Lakers in the backcourt. While Schroder continues to play at least 30 minutes per game and average 12 points per game on the season, he should be in position for a few more shots tonight. Game Type: CASH & GPP | ||||||
PG | Ayo Dosunmu | CHI @ BKN Thu 7:30 | 4200 | 18.7 | 5200 | 18.5 |
Dosunmu has now hit double figures in five straight games and is averaging 14 points in 32 minutes over that stretch. He should be busy again tonight, and it is a good matchup against a shorthanded Brooklyn team. Game Type: GPP | ||||||
PG | Saben Lee | PHX @ ATL Thu 7:30 | 3100 | 12 | 4200 | 12.3 |
The Suns are thin in the backcourt tonight, so the expectation is that Lee gets some run. There was a stretch of four straight games earlier this season in which he scored in double figures, but it is hard to bank on any consistency here but he has scored when given the chance. Game Type: GPP | ||||||
SG | Zach LaVine | CHI @ BKN Thu 7:30 | 8600 | 39.8 | 7600 | 38 |
I'm looking at LaVine much more on FD than DK, but he is going to get some attention due to the size of the slate. Demar DeRozan did miss Tuesday's game with a hip injury and he is questionable tonight, so that certainly bumps up LaVine's value and potential after he scored 24 points in 40 minutes on Tuesday. Game Type: GPP | ||||||
SG | Cam Thomas | CHI @ BKN Thu 7:30 | 7800 | 32.8 | 7300 | 31.8 |
And now we are paying for it. Thomas gets a little help tonight with Spencer Dinwiddie making his Nets' debut, but I would expect him to still have a large role. Most of Thomas' production does come from his offense, but it is also hard to argue with three straight games of at least 40 points. Chase at your own peril, but it wouldn't shock me to see him hit at least 25 to 30 points. Game Type: GPP | ||||||
SG | Royce O'Neale | PHX @ ATL Thu 7:30 | 5300 | 0 | 5100 | 0 |
O'Neale still plays a steady role for the Nets, Seth Curry is also sidelined, but he needs to do better than his one of six shooting performance from Tuesday. At 9.8 points, 4.6 rebounds, and four assists per games in his last five, O'Neale is a steady contributor with a little upset if he finds his way into double-digit scoring. Game Type: CASH & GPP | ||||||
SG | Kentavious Caldwell-Pope | DEN @ ORL Thu 7:00 | 4400 | 22.6 | 5300 | 22.7 |
KCP finds himself in the starting lineup tonight, and there could be a larger role in store if Jamal Murray is in fact out as he is dealing with a knee injury. The guard should hit double figures offensively tonight. and the shots will be there. Game Type: GPP | ||||||
SG | Damion Lee | PHX @ ATL Thu 7:30 | 3200 | 25.7 | 3900 | 24 |
Between injuries and the Kevin Durant acquisition, the Suns will be playing shorthanded tonight and should mean plenty of playing time and shots for Lee. Game Type: GPP | ||||||
SG | Lonnie Walker | 3100 | 0 | 4300 | 0 | |
The Lakers need to replace Russell Westbrook's offense and Patrick Beverley's minutes tonight, so that lines up well for Walker who is averaging 13.7 points per game this season and is priced quite well. Game Type: GPP | ||||||
SF | Paolo Banchero | DEN @ ORL Thu 7:00 | 7500 | 40.9 | 7700 | 39.9 |
While some games have been better than others for the rookie, and his shot has suffered as of late (35% in his last five games), the production has not really taken a dip. Banchero is averaging 18.2 points in that stretch, which is only off his season average by two points, but he is also doing a little better on the boards averaging 8.8 rebounds (compared to 6.6). Game Type: CASH & GPP | ||||||
SF | Michael Porter | DEN @ ORL Thu 7:00 | 6200 | 31.8 | 6800 | 30.6 |
And this is what we have been looking for. Porter went off for 30 points on Tuesday and he has been showing a little more in the offensive department as of late which has been a welcome development. In facing the Magic tonight, Porter has a favorable matchup to continue that success. Game Type: CASH & GPP | ||||||
SF | Khris Middleton | MIL @ LAL Thu 10:00 | 5500 | 28.4 | 6200 | 27 |
Milwaukee continues to take it easy with Middleton, a high of 22 minutes in his last game, but he forward continues to be effective, and he is priced correctly based on that for a 5x return on DK. The good news is that Middleton has double digit shot attempts in each of his last four games and is averaging 16 points in his last five. Game Type: CASH & GPP | ||||||
SF | Bruce Brown | 4900 | 0 | 5700 | 0 | |
Brown continues to be a strong performer for Denver even if his offense hasn't been there in the last two games while starting for Jamal Murray. Regardless of that, he does enough to stay around that 5x return level. Game Type: GPP | ||||||
SF | Torrey Craig | CHI @ BKN Thu 7:30 | 4100 | 0 | 4500 | 0 |
If you haven't heard, the Suns are missing a few players tonight. Craig remains and he stands to benefit from a playing time perspective even if he doesn't do anything particularly well. At this price though, it is volume we are looking for, and Craig will come through in that department. Game Type: CASH & GPP | ||||||
SF | Joe Harris | 3500 | 0 | 4400 | 0 | |
Harris continues to struggle with his shot, but with Seth Curry out, he should be get the opportunity to continue shooting tonight, so that will catch our attention as he looks to improve on the 8.3 points per game he is averaging on the season. Game Type: GPP | ||||||
PF | Giannis Antetokounmpo | MIL @ LAL Thu 10:00 | 12300 | 60.7 | 12500 | 57.6 |
With all of the value floating around tonight, it is hard to ignore Antetokounmpo. This is especially true when you consider how favorable a matchup it is for him against the Lakers after he finished with 24 points and 13 rebounds in just 23 minutes against Portland on Monday. Game Type: CASH & GPP | ||||||
PF | Aaron Gordon | DEN @ ORL Thu 7:00 | 6800 | 36.3 | 7400 | 36.3 |
Gordon is in the midst of another strong stretch as he is averaging 18 points, six assists, and five rebounds per game in his last three, and that is something he should be able to continue tonight against Orlando. Game Type: CASH & GPP | ||||||
PF | Rui Hachimura | MIL @ LAL Thu 10:00 | 4800 | 30 | 5200 | 29.1 |
Hachimura is fitting right in with the Lakers, and he is another candidate to fill the gaps for tonight of the scoring Los Angeles is missing. On Tuesday, Hachimura had a strong 14 point, six rebound performance in what seems to be a solid spot for him. Game Type: CASH & GPP | ||||||
C | Nikola Jokić | DEN @ ORL Thu 7:00 | 11000 | 63.3 | 11700 | 58 |
While there is some depth at the center position tonight, Jokic does rise about the competition. He hasn't been scoring at a true elite level as of late, but can anyone complain about 20.5 points, 15.5 rebounds, and 14.3 assists per game in his last four. Game Type: CASH & GPP | ||||||
C | Anthony Davis | MIL @ LAL Thu 10:00 | 10200 | 59.4 | 10900 | 59.5 |
In what has been an otherwise strong season for Davis, he had an off night on Tuesday as he scored just 13 points while grabbing eight rebounds as LeBron James broke the scoring record. I'm willing to go back to Davis tonight. That is especially the case with James sitting out tonight. Game Type: CASH & GPP | ||||||
C | Nikola Vučević | CHI @ BKN Thu 7:30 | 9000 | 41.5 | 9000 | 39.2 |
Vucevic continues to play at absolute strong level. He faces a Nets team that is in transition tonight as he is averaging 22.6 points and 14.8 rebounds in his last five games while also adding 4.8 assists as nice bonus. Game Type: CASH & GPP | ||||||
C | Nic Claxton | CHI @ BKN Thu 7:30 | 7600 | 0 | 8400 | 0 |
Claxton continues to perform at a strong level after he scored 17 points to go along with 13 rebounds on Tuesday. At this point, he is locked into his role as one of the main contributors for a rebuilding Brooklyn team. Game Type: CASH & GPP | ||||||
C | Jock Landale | 3000 | 0 | 3700 | 0 | |
The Suns are thin tonight in the front court, and we should see a lot of Landale. When given the chance this season, he has shown the ability to contribute both on the offensive end and on the board, and you can't argue with the price. Game Type: CASH & GPP |
Trae Young, PG | 9100 , 45.3 | 45.3 | 9400 , 43.1 | 43.1 | ||

Game Type: CASH & GPP | ||||||
Jrue Holiday, PG | 7700 , 0 | 0 | 7800 , 0 | 0 | ||
Chris Paul, PG | 7300 , 0 | 0 | 8100 , 0 | 0 | ||
Markelle Fultz, PG | 5700 , 33.2 | 33.2 | 6500 , 33.5 | 33.5 | ||
