Point Guard

John Wall took Friday off and should be very well-rested against the Rockets. In fact, he may be the top overall PG of the entire slate given how fast-paced this game should be. The Rockets have been middle of the pack in terms of guarding PGs but Wall is a fantasy beast and should excel regardless of match-up.

George Hill would be my top play if Gordon Hayward did not return last night, but he did. Both Hill and Hayward scored over 20 points but with a low-scoring team like the Jazz, that trend won’t last long. The Sixers are always a fine team to target against but it’s tough to guess which of the two will explode on a given night. Hill does have a high floor though. Just realize his upside is a bit capped with Hayward’s return.

As we all know, Russell Westbrook is a force to be reckoned with on the offensive side, but on defense he’s never a player to avoid from a fantasy perspective. Goran Dragic flashed his upside with a 56 fantasy point performance against the Kings, and now faces an OKC team ranked eighth in points allowed to PGs. He should feast again.

Shooting Guard

It’s tough to fade Harden even at the price of $11,700 here. I limited my exposure his last time out and I won’t be making that mistake again. He is the Houston offense. While the Wizards have been one of the best teams against point guards, don’t be afraid of Harden. Because of the height difference though, Harden may have Bradley Beal on him most of the game rather than Wall. Regardless, he’s worth having exposure to after multiple 60+ fantasy point games in a row.

Nicolas Batum has been awful from a shot selection standpoint and he’s been tough to watch. With that being said, he can always fill up the stat sheet. The match-up with the Pacers isn’t a favorable one but if you’re stuck at SG, you can count on 30 fantasy points or so, especially if Marvin Williams sits.

Tyler Johnson has been quietly producing. No one likes to play the guy, but he’s getting nearly  30 minutes a game off the bench for the Heat. He’s averaging 36 DK points per game over his last two and, while it’s unlikely he keeps it that high, we can count on a 25-28 fantasy point performance. That’s fine at his $4,700 price tag.

Small Forward

The only issue with Kevin Durant is the high possibility for a blowout. The Pelicans/Warriors game is easily the highest point total of the night according to Vegas and it’s obvious as to why. The Warriors are coming off a bad loss to the Lakers and will be returning home for vengeance. They’re currently favored by nearly 18 points and it appears this game will likely be over by the third quarter. Durant is risky but you can try him in a GPP or two. The blowout potential, though, is very, very real.

C.J. Miles is one of the streakiest shooters in the NBA and he’s feeling it right now. His minutes are a bit concerning since he has yet to eclipse the 24-minute mark but he’s still averaging 27 DK points over the last three games. The Pacers/Hornets game is an ugly one but Miles should still hit value.

Markieff Morris will likely be seeing more minutes after Scott Brooks expressed interest in playing him with the second unit. Houston was demolished by Paul Millsap and Morris is capable of doing the same. He’s still under $6,000 and he’s coming off 36 and 38 fantasy point games in his last two. Fire him up.

Power Forwards

With Marvin Williams currently questionable, Spencer Hawes is the next in line for some extra minutes. He and Frank Kaminsky would likely split the minutes left behind by Williams but play whoever ends up starting. Kaminsky and Hawes make for great value plays tonight.

Blake Griffin is not the sexiest option as he always seems to be in the 35-50 range for fantasy points. Rarely will you see Griffin give you a complete dud, however, so he’s one of the higher floor options for tonight’s slate. The Pistons have given up the least amount of fantasy points to PFs so this isn’t a matchup I’d specifically target. But it’s early in the season and Griffin could very well exceed value in this one.

Going back to the Clippers and Detroit game, Jon Leuer has been very solid off the bench for the Pistons. He’s averaging 26 minutes per game and there’s no sign of his minutes dropping. If Andre Drummond or Tobias Harris get in foul trouble, Leuer is a great bet for 30 fantasy points. Today may be a smart day to save at the PF position…

Centers

My favorite center play of the night is the block specialist himself, Hassan Whiteside. If he avoids foul trouble, he’s a lock for a double-double and you know he will get a few blocks as well. He’s really improved as a scorer and Whiteside is a good bet for 45-50 DK points tonight despite a tougher matchup with Steven Adams

Joel Embiid is a monster. I’ve never seen such domination from a rookie in any sport like I’ve seen with Embiid. Sure, he has a tough matchup with the Jazz frontcourt, but the Cavs barely give up fantasy numbers to centers and look how that went. He’s $5,700 and won’t play more than 25 minutes but he can still get you 40 fantasy points. It’s almost unfathomable but throw him into some GPPs, but no cash games.

That’s it for centers, this is truly an ugly slate but Harden, Wall, and Whiteside seem to be some of the top studs of the night. Hawes/Kaminsky should find their ways into most of your lineups depending on which one ends up starting. Target the Houston and Washington game as it should be high scoring and a close game.

Good luck everyone! Don’t fade John Wall
