Wizards selected Walter Clayton Jr. with the No. 18 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.
While Washington made this pick, they did so for the Jazz as part of a trade that will be finalized in the coming days. Clayton Jr. left the collegiate scene on the highest note possible, as he led the Gators to a national championship and won NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player honors in the process. Florida’s star guard finished the 2024-25 season with averages of 18.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.2 steals and 3.0 triples while shooting 45/39/88 splits. After spending two seasons at Iona, he ended his career with two seasons at Florida, where he flourished, earning All-SEC honors twice. Pop in the tape of Clayton Jr.’s back-to-back 30-point performances in the Elite 8 and Final 4 to see why he can make an immediate impact on offense at the next level. With Utah having selected guards in the first round of their last two drafts, Keyonte George and Isaiah Collier, adding Clayton to the mix does not bode well for either of those two. In exchange for this pick, Utah will send the 21st and 43rd overall picks in the 2025 draft and second-round picks in 2031 and 2032 to Washington.
Joan Beringer was selected by the Timberwolves with the No. 17 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.
The Frenchman stands nearly seven feet tall and has a 7’4.5” wingspan, which could translate into dominant defensive production. He won’t turn 19 until November, and he’s an incredibly raw prospect as he didn’t start playing basketball until 2021. He played a limited role in Slovenia this past season, so the numbers aren’t pretty, with averages of 5.1 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in 18.2 minutes per game. It may take some time for him to figure things out, but he could turn into an impactful player on defense that can provide traditional center stats for fantasy managers. He’ll get to learn the position from fellow French big man Rudy Gobert, which could be a big boon to his development in the Association.
Hansen Yang was selected by the Memphis Grizzlies with the 16th pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.
Yang is on his way to the Trail Blazers in a trade along with a 2028 first-round pick and two second round picks in exchange for the No. 11 pick that the Grizzlies used on Cedric Coward. Yang is one of China’s brightest emerging stars, and along with Creighton’s Ryan Kalkbrenner, the 7’1, 249 pound Yang is one of the draft’s biggest prospects. Yang spent the last two seasons with the Qingdao Eagles where his skill as a passer was evident. He’s got a deep bag for a center and excellent court vision to get teammates involved. Passing big men are cheat codes in fantasy hoops, and Yang could be a name to watch depending on how he develops in the NBA. Yang was one of the surprises of the first round as most draft experts expected him to come off the board in the second round.
Thunder selected Thomas Sorber with the 15th overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.
Sorber had a productive freshman season at Georgetown, but a left foot injury in February ended his lone college season prematurely. There are no indications that the foot injury will impact him moving forward, but it did prevent him from participating in parts of the combine. He’s a bit undersized for a center at 6’9”, but his 7’6” wingspan and solid frame will help him battle down low. He averaged 14.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.5 steals and 2.0 blocks per game last season, which is an exciting stat line for fantasy managers. While heading to Oklahoma City likely means Sorber, Georgetown’s first first-round pick since Otto Porter Jr., will be limited from a fantasy standpoint, he’ll get to learn from a talented frontcourt that includes Jalen Williams, Chet Holmgren and Isaiah Hartenstein.
ESPN’s Bobby Marks reports that Vasilije Micic has been traded to the Hornets as part of the Mark Williams deal.
Micic was dealt to Phoenix in February as part of the deal that sent Jusuf Nurkic to Charlotte. Micic played solidly when given meaningful minutes for the Hornets, and he’ll return after just a few months in the desert.
Derik Queen was selected by the Atlanta Hawks with the 13th pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.
The Hawks are sending Queen to the Pelicans for the No. 23 pick and an unprotected 2026 first round pick. The 6’10” center from Maryland is one of the more dynamic offensive bigs in this draft. The 20-year-old averaged 16.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.1 blocks per game as a freshman last season. He didn’t test well at the combine, but physical limitations didn’t stop him from being one of the best freshmen in college basketball last season, and he had some clutch moments on the biggest stages, including a game-winner to send Maryland to the Sweet Sixteen. He isn’t a strong defensive prospect, but he has a chance to be a special offensive player. The Pelicans gave up a lot to move up and select Queen, who they could envision playing alongside Zion Williamson in the future.
