Meatloaf is back on the menu everyone! It took until the final field goal of the New Orleans Pelicans versus Sacramento Kings game, but the Kings held on for the win. Domantas Sabonis’ rebounds were not in question, and there was not a need for our NBA best bets to remove the hook. He earned 20 rebounds against the Pelicans, safely covering the 12+ line.

One of two Raptors tickets from yesterday’s NBA picks were successful. Gradey Dick covered his point prop with ease, but RJ Barrett could not make two three point field goals. However, Two out of Three Ain’t Bad, and 0.93u was added to the NBA best bets bankroll.

NBA Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 12/13

It’s Friday the 13th, and perhaps some unaccounted variables will show their nasty faces today. But we are planning on winners, and for NBA best bets today, we offer the popular betting cuisine of a betting sampler.

A parlay, two player proposition, and straight bet are all suggested. All four NBA picks are at -110 odds are better too, so it could be a unit-stacking payday!

Spurs vs. Trail Blazers Prediction: Chris Paul Over 9.5 Assists (+110 on DraftKings)

This prediction has become a more frequent selection for Fantasy Alarm, but we have stayed away from Chris Paul over the past couple of weeks. That was foolish because he has been dishing out the dimes, and recently passed Jason Kidd for the second most assists all-time.

Getting to second hasn’t slowed down Chris Paul, as the 39 year old is looking better, and getting more playing time than he did with the Golden State Warriors. He has 10 or more assists in three of his last five games, and the Portland Trail Blazers have five players listed as either questionable or out. Paul has an opportunity to earn double digit assists against a struggling Portland team.

Although the double-double line is suggested when a player has either their rebounds or assists set at 9.5, Paul has been an inconsistent scorer. He has 9 or less points in four of his last eight games. Also Victor Wembanyama and Jeremey Sochan have been scoring more lately. If you like to live dangerously, put a unit on the double-double at +205, but for the purpose of this column +110 on over 9.5 assists is the preferred pick.

NBA Parlay Prediction: Washington Wizards +17.0 & LA Clippers +6.5 (+264 on Bet365) *0.5 Unit

A parlay on the spread is put forth today, and it is the first time this season we have put a parlay on strictly spread odds. It might defy logic, predicting the worst team in the NBA to cover a spread against the first placed team in the NBA… but that is what we are doing.

17 points is a lot to win a basketball game by, even for a match of best versus worst. The Cleveland Cavaliers host the Washington Wizards at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse tonight, and are expected to win with ease. The Cavaliers earn 121.4 and the Wizards 107.6 points per game, a difference of almost fourteen points per game.

However the Cavaliers also allow 111.5 points per game, and there is potential for the Wizards to score with good offensive players. It is more than possible for Washington to have a better offensive night, but their issue is defense. The Wizards allow 123.8 points per game, the most in the Association.

That will be the issue, but seventeen points is a lot of points to spot an NBA team. The first fold of this leg is purely data driven, and playing the numbers. The second fold of this parlay is both numbers and the eye test. The Clippers have owned the Nuggets this season, beating them both on the road and at home.

Somehow the Clippers are +6.5 underdogs on the road, and we are taking advantage of it. As someone that watches or listens to almost every Denver Nuggets game, they are not a team closing out well. They are also horrific against the spread this season, with a pathetic record of 8-14.

Jamal Murray is practicing and could make his return, but the Clippers have had the Nuggets number this season. Even if the Clippers do lose, it is unlikely it will be by 7 or more points.

As with most parlays 0.5 units is recommended, and with +264 odds over a unit will return once this pick is successful.

NBA Player Props & Other Picks Today, 12/13

There are two more NBA best bets today to discuss and they are both in the Western Conference.

One is on a player that is not getting much recognition, and the other a spread bet that isn’t adding up. Both are at one unit, bringing the total to 3.5 units placed today.

Suns vs. Jazz Prediction: Tyus Jones Over 6.5 Assists (-105 on Bet365)

Tyus Jones is an overlooked player that the Phoenix Suns brought in this off-season. The front office recognized that both Bradley Beal and Kevin Durant are often injured. Plus they needed a player that could play as a true point guard, not a hybrid mix or asking Devin Booker to take on a task that he is learning while playing.

Booker is excellent and is a proven winner, willing to take on numerous roles. Both the Suns and the USA Olympic team asked him to take on tasks that he is not accustomed to… and he has shined. However Booker does not have the natural instinct and vision of a court like Jones.

Jones averaged over 7 assists per game with the Wizards last season, and is averaging 6.8 with the Suns this season. His numbers have been down over his last four games, 20 over that stretch. But you know what helps any point guard’s assist go up? Accurate scorers.

Kevin Durant is just that, possibly the most accurate and lethal scorer of all-time. Of course Jones’ numbers were going to be down without Durant, almost all point guards that have played with him have experienced a drop in assists while he is injured.

In his last six games of November Jones’ assists numbers were; 9, 12, 6, 10, 8, 11. All but one game cleared the prediction for today. With Durant expected back, put a unit at almost even odds for him to get over 6.5 assists against the Utah Jazz.

Spurs vs. Trail Blazers Prediction: San Antonio -3.5 (-110 on DraftKings)

The San Antonio Spurs and Portland Trail Blazers may be the twelfth and thirteenth ranked teams, but the Spurs have a four-game advantage over the Trail Blazers. They both have players out for tonight’s game, but DeAndre Ayton is questionable and with an illness.

Robert Williams is out with a concussion and Donovan Clingan is also listed as out. Portland could be playing with their fourth string center, Jabari Walker. This illness is making its way through the NBA and the North American continent, and Portland teammates could be affected as well.

Even if Ayton is playing he likely will not be at full strength, and the Spurs will have a healthy Victor Wembanyama. That alone is trouble for concern but Jeremey Sochan and Harrison Barnes will be bringing it as well. The Spurs front court should dominate, and Chris Paul will exploit every mismatch and bad defensive positioning.

Put a unit on the Spurs to cover a 3.5 spread on the road.
