NBA Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 11/21

Before we look at today's NBA Best Bets, let's review yesterday's NBA predictions. We split the bets two of four yesterday, with a 0.12 unit gain. Small gains can pay huge dividends, and if you don’t believe me, go watch the 1979 hit movie The Jerk.

Had we not built a ladder on Jalen Johnson it would have been Meatloaf. Instead, Johnson had a terrible second half. He went into halftime with 12 points and ended the game with only 15, despite playing 35 minutes. Johnson could not get the ball in the basket in the second half. He finished with 16 field goal attempts but made only 6.

Ivica Zubac got off the hook earning his twelfth rebound with under three minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. Zach LaVine cruised to an easy cover in a high-scoring game – we should have built our ladder on him. Let's now turn our attention to Thursday's NBA picks and props.

Jazz vs. Spurs Prediction: Thursday, 11/21

Bet Of The Night

We have been all over Chris Paul’s assist lines lately and he just recorded a double-double in the San Antonio Spurs' upset over the Oklahoma City Thunder last game. He has 6 double-doubles on the season and without Victor Wembanyama tonight, he has a great opportunity to earn another.

The Utah Jazz are better than most want to give them credit for but they are a much more aggressive home team. Salt Lake City is still above 4,000 feet and the Delta Center is the second-highest arena in the Association. However, a team allowing 118.9 points per game can hardly be called a good defense. In fact, it’s quite terrible and is almost a full 3 points more than any other Western Conference team allows.

Enter the assists specialist, Chris Paul, who is 69 assists away from tying Jason Kidd’s mark of second-most all time. Paul should get easy baskets against a poor Jazz backcourt and find open players on the perimeter. The Spurs are 6-3 at the Frost Bank Center, and as long as this is not a blowout, Paul has a great opportunity to cash a +190 prop. Put a full unit on him to do just that.

Pistons vs. Hornets Prediction: Thursday, 10/21

We love Jalen Duren at Fantasy Alarm NBA Best Bets. For the second year in a row, he has been a high-percentage prop winner. How can you not love him? Last year, the Detroit Pistons were the laughingstock of the NBA, which had to affect the psyche and performance of the players. This year, they are doing better – currently sixth in the Eastern Conference and winners of 6 of their last 10.

In their most recent game, we bet his over 10.5 rebounds and he cashed in the third quarter on his way to 22 total rebounds. Today, his line is set at 10.5 but with heavy juice or at 11.5 with never-even odds depending on the sportsbook. So instead, we drop the rebounding hooks and look for a double-double.

Granted, Duren is not a big-time point scorer, often getting putbacks and easy passes near the rim. However, he has attempted 27 field goals in his last three games and is scoring at an outstanding 75% rate. He also has a double-double in his last two games and looks 100% healthy for the first time since returning from injury. Put a unit on the young man to deliver for us again.

Best NBA Prop Bets & Other Picks Today, 11/21

The Minnesota Timberwolves are being questioned in the media, as to what is wrong. Why are they not playing at the level they were last year? Was the loss of Karl-Anthony Towns too much to overcome? Is Anthony Edwards out of shape? Is there too much responsibility on Rudy Gobert?

This happens to teams that make it to the Conference Finals, and the Timberwolves made late off-season moves that could take more time than fans have the patience for. A game against a team that has lost eight of their last ten games should help put some concerns at ease. But the Toronto Raptors are not a pushover. Let's find a player prop from this matchup tonight.

Timberwolves vs. Raptors Prediction: Thursday, 10/21

Despite the Timberwolves being favorites on the road, an under on Mike Conley is suggested. The Raptors are playing better than their record indicates – but also could be blown out by the fourth quarter. Their backcourt is okay, at least to slow the struggling Timberwolves. Either way, Conley has moved more into a mentor role and is playing less.

Well, for the most part at least, his minutes have been up lately. He played 30 minutes in their most recent game and 37 against the Sacramento Kings last Friday. He is listed as day-to-day and could sit, but could also play with restricted minutes – which would help this prediction be successful.

He is only averaging 7.5 points and 25 minutes per game, so the fact that this points line is set at 10.5 is a bit odd. That is why this pick is in today’s Best Bets as the data and probability both suggest under 11 points for the veteran tonight.
