NBA Best Bets Today, 10/24: Picks, Predictions & Player Props - Thursday
Another unit-stacking day for Fantasy Alarm NBA predictions. Two of the three bets were successful including the double unit hammer of Milwaukee covering the teased up spread.
We could have teased it much higher as Philadelphia looked terrible throughout the night… as predicted.
NBA Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 10/24
2.66 units were gained to bring the year total to +5.92 units, and we look to keep it going with NBA best bets today on four thrilling games across the league. Boston Celtics at Washington Wizards, San Antonio Spurs at Dallas Mavericks, Oklahoma City at Denver Nuggets, and Minnesota Timberwolves at Sacramento Kings.
The Interstate 35 shootout is alive and well in the NBA, and we as fans are lucky enough to see them open their season against each other as the first game on TNT today. The San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Mavericks have been one the better and more entertaining rivalries of this century, and the NBA knows it.
Spurs vs. Mavericks Prediction: Victor Wembanyama Over 11.5 Rebounds (+110 on DraftKings) *2 Units [Bet Of The Night]
The defending Western Conference champion Mavericks host the ‘only untradable player in the NBA’, Victor Wembanyama. This game is full of superstars, and possible future faces of the NBA, and Fantasy Alarm Best Bets rode Wembanyama to several wins last year.
He is responsible for at least 10 units and is my most frequent bet on rookie across any sports… and we are back to riding the largest wingspan in the NBA. It is a little remarkable that his rebounding line is so low against the bad rebounding front court of the Mavericks. Granted they do have Luka Doncic, and he is the highest projected rebounder for their team, but it is Wembanyama! 7’ 4” tall with an 8’ foot wingspan and he is not getting 12 rebounds?!?!
Get outta here! He’s getting it and it’s at plus money, so we are double unit betting it. There are two things to worry about, foul trouble and Head Coach Gregg Popovich restricting his minutes. Hopefully Wembanyama has learned to not reach as much, and the NBA is allowing more physical play… supposedly.
Popovich will need to rely on his star as underdogs against the Western Conference champs, and controlling the defensive boards is one way of doing that. For NBA best bets today, trust the young Frenchman with two units to do what 7’ people do in basketball, rebound balls.
Best NBA Prop Bets & Other Picks Today, 10/24
Three games should be really competitive today and have more or less tight spreads in the match.
One of them is a projected blowout, and it is the best team of this decade versus the worst team of this decade… century in fact.
Celtics vs. Wizards Prediction: Jordan Poole Over 18.5 Points (-110 on BetMGM)
Yes, this is a worst versus first scenario that could get out of hand quickly, but you never know. Perhaps the Wizards are going to play like the season they had Russell Westbrook, and reach the play-in. They could surprise the defending champion.
For the Wizards to be good they need their highest salaried player to be the star he can be. You never know what you’re going to get with Jordan Poole, he is a true loose cannon in the betting world, but the angle is to take the over on his point line tonight.
The Celtics play great defense, but they are going to be a little gassed from opening night, and could be planning to win with ease today. That is to say, underestimating their opponent. The odds are -1000 for Boston to win, which is really high before a game begins.
Poole is arguably the best one-on-one player in the NBA, and he has endless clips of making opponents look like high school players as he out maneuvers them in open space. Should he create space for his field goal attempts, 19 points seems a bit low.
He has averaged over 18 points twice in his career, and hopefully he has his competitive drive to begin the season. The Wizards are opening at home and Poole should be able to score against the Celtics guards. Trust him with one unit tonight for NBA best bets today.
Thunder vs. Nuggets Prediction: Nikola Jokic Over 12.5 Rebounds (-110 on BetMGM)
The Northwest Division was the most exciting, and best of the 2023 NBA season. It was not even close to being debatable either. Oklahoma City, Denver, and Minnesota were leading the entire Western Conference and the battle for first of the division and conference went to the very last game of the season.
Luckily the NBA rewarded its fans by making the opening game for Denver and Oklahoma City against each other. The spread is 2 points in favor of the Nuggets, but a 2 point spread in the NBA is the sportsbooks telling you it’s anyone’s game. For that reason, our NBA best bets today stay away from the straight wager and look at the best player of this decade, if not all time. Nikola Jokic.
Jokic has been a marvel to watch. Larry Bird praises him and says the Nuggets are currently the most exciting team to watch. Former president Barack Obama says Jokic is a complete package, and is a fun player to watch. Literally any player, coach, or media involved with the NBA says Jokic is the most remarkable player they have seen on the court. So why not bet on him?
The Oklahoma City Thunder realized they had a hole at the center position, and paid (some believe overpaid) for Isaiah Hartenstein. It should work out well for them down the road, but Hartenstein was injured in the pre-season and is out tonight. Enter “skinny Jimmy”, also known as Chet Holmgren.
Jokic could breathe and blow Holmgren across the court, but in all seriousness, Holmgren only weighs 207 pounds. There are 7th grade offensive linemen that weigh more than that. Nikola Jokic is listed at 284 pounds, and in previous games has absolutely manhandled the young Holmgren. It should be more of the same tonight.
Rebounding should come easy for Mr. Triple-Double, Nikola Jokic. His line is at 12.5 on BetMGM and Fantasy Alarm has a promotional offer if you do not have a BetMGM account, which we’ll touch on below.
It is tempting to lay a double unit on this but accounting for factors such as Jokic’s teammates Michel Porter Jr., Aaron Gordon, and Russell Westbrook being excellent rebounders. They could dip into his rebounding stat line, and also Head Coach Michael Malone could put Jokic on minutes restriction. Either way, trusting the reigning MVP is rarely a bad idea.
