It was a tough outing in yesterday’s NBA best bets as the Boston Celtics allowed the Oklahoma City Thunder to have a monstrous second half. Boston scored just 27 combined points after a first half in which they outscored Oklahoma City by 10 points.

The Thunder scored more in the fourth quarter than Boston did in the entire second half, an absolutely embarrassing display by the defending champions.

Kristaps Porzingis and Austin Reaves fell flat on their predictions, as yesterday was the worst betting day of the calendar year, and the worst in over two weeks. The good news is that it was yesterday and has no association with today’s NBA best bets.

NBA Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 1/6

The best way to recover from a disaster is by working on the task of fixing what was damaged.

What was damaged and has been wrong is too many new names that have not proven consistency. Today we get back to familiar faces to ensure a profit on the last day of the betting week.

Bucks vs. Raptors Prediction: Scottie Barnes Over 19.5 Points (-110 on DraftKings) *Bet of the Day

Scottie Barnes is a name Fantasy Alarm can trust, one we have faith in. He has delivered so many units over the past three years, he feels as though he can be the most reliable player to bet on in the Association.

The interesting aspect of Barnes is figuring out which of his statistics is best to take advantage of. In his most recent match we took advantage of his points, and we look at that angle once again. The Milwaukee Bucks and Toronto Raptors have the third highest projected total of the night, and points will need to come from both sides to get close to 230.5.

For the Raptors that means Barnes and Gradey Dick are projected to be leading scorers. RJ Barrett is out and that should put the ball in Barnes’ hands more than usual. He has scored 20 or more points in four of his last six games, and plays 34.3 minutes per game. The opportunity should be there, and in Barnes we trust. Put a unit on his points tonight.

NBA Parlay Prediction: Memphis Grizzlies + Sacramento Kings Money Line (+135 on DraftKings)

The Memphis Grizzlies host the Dallas Mavericks at FedexForum and are projected to beat their Western Conference opponent. Dallas is without Luka Doncic and it’s really starting to show. They have lost four in a row, and the minutes are mounting for older players.

Memphis will be without four to five players once again, but Head Coach Taylor Jenkins has tested his depth more than any coach over the past two seasons. Their reserves play more minutes than some starters, especially this season. In doing so the Grizzlies have returned to a top tier team.

The Grizzlies are third in the Western Conference and have a 14-4 record at FedexForum. Dallas will have difficulty with the size of their front court, and Memphis could cover the spread, but the moneyline is suggested.

The Sacramento Kings host the Miami Heat who are in a state of inner turmoil. The Heat have suspended their start player for almost double-digit games, and are not playing well. They have lost two in a row, and six of their last ten. In addition to the tough times, they have a losing record on the road with seven wins and nine losses.

The Kings have the same amount of wins as the Heat but are eleventh in the Western Conference. They have lost several games this season by one field goal or less, and are somewhat rising out of their state of inner turmoil.

Sacramento is on a four game win streak since the unexpected firing of Mike Brown. They are playing well and have favorable odds on a stand alone moneyline wager. However combining it with the juiced line of the Grizzlies puts the odds at +135. Great odds for two teams favored to win, put a full unit on it as both home teams should win today.

NBA Player Props & Other Picks Today, 1/6

In keeping with consistent, profit giving players, we return back to The Well after almost an entire week away.

Spurs vs. Bulls Prediction: Nikola Vucevic Over 1.5 Threes Made (-145 on Bet365)

For the third game in a row Victor Wembanyama goes against a center named Nikola. This time it is Vucevic, who although not as great as Jokic, is still a great center. Vucevic has been playing inside-out more lately, and has earned 12 or more rebounds in each of his last four games. That is what big centers do though, and we are not looking at his rebounds.

Only a few can develop their scoring from behind the three-point line. Vucevic has attempted 27 threes over his last four games, and he should attempt over his average against the Spurs. Wembanyama makes people doubt going for a layup or dunk, and Vucevic should have an uptick in three point attempts today.

Although unsuccessful in his most recent match, Vucevic has covered this prop in six of his last eight games. He is averaging 32.2 minutes per game and played over 31 minutes in each of his last nine games. The volume and opportunity should be there for The Well. Put a unit on him to deliver once again.
