NBA Best Bets Today, 1/31: Picks, Predictions & Player Props - Friday

The Houston Rockets and Memphis Grizzlies game lived up to the hype, but the Rockets were on the wrong side of the outcome. The Utah Jazz continued their odd usage of player time, and Kessler played just 27 minutes, well below his average.
DeAndre Ayton was simply outplayed and did not get anywhere near his rebounding line, as the sportsbooks had another great day on our NBA best bets.
NBA Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 1/31
There are seven matches today, and Fantasy Alarm NBA best bets return from the basement of the Betting Bungalow with player propositions.
Three visiting teams take center stage, including a player in the first match of ESPN tonight.
Nuggets vs. 76ers Prediction: Nikola Jokic Over 26.5 Points (-115 on DraftKings) *Bet of the Night
The Denver Nuggets travel to the Wells Fargo Center to play the Philadelphia 76ers tonight. The Nuggets are currently on their first three game losing streak of the season, and they will look to shake off the recent run of bad luck.
As with almost everything in Denver, it starts with Nikola Jokic. Jokic has allowed his point total to dip down during this three-game skid. He has two games with fifteen field goal attempts or less, and the Nuggets have suffered from it.
Jokic is averaging 29.7 points per game, and this line is three points under his average. The Philadelphia 76ers are playing better but still allow an average of 112.0 points per game. There are several great scorers for the Nuggets, but Jokic can take over a game regardless of the opponent.
The 76ers are on a four-game win streak, the Nuggets on a three-game losing streak, and it is time for the reigning MVP to make a statement win. As great as Jamal Murray, Russell Westbrook, and Christian Braun have been, none can consistently score thirty points by taking advantage of the opposing team’s front court.
Put a unit on Nikola Jokic to score at least his average and cover the 26.5-point line.
Bulls vs. Raptors Prediction: Nikola Vucevic Under 11.5 Rebounds (-130 on Bet365)
The Well is back with another player proposition. Most of the time Fantasy Alarm looks at Nikola Vucevic’s overs, be it on threes made or rebounds. Today his rebounding line has been moved up one, and the expectation is for him to go under 11.5 rebounds.
As great as Vucevic’s overs have been for Fantasy Alarm, when the data indicates an under is possible, you go with the data. That is exactly the case today as the Chicago Bulls are on the road against the Toronto Raptors.
The Raptors are on a five-game win streak, have won seven of their last ten games, and are playing their best basketball of the season. The Chicago Bulls lost their most recent match and have lost eight of their last ten games. These are two teams on opposite ends of momentum.
Vucevic is a great rebounder but has gone over 11.5 rebounds in just one of his last six games. The Toronto Raptors are a middle of the pack rebounding team and allow 52.8 rebounds per game. That number drops to 52.1 at ScotiaBank Arena, and the Raptors have won 11 of their 15 games at home.
Scottie Barnes and Jakob Poeltl are both great rebounders and will take away opportunities from Nikola Vucevic. The Well provides for Fantasy Alarm, and the prediction is for him to provide again. This time under 11.5 rebounds, put a unit on it.
NBA Player Props & Other Picks Today, 1/31
The first scheduled game today is an intraconference match between Big Ds.
The Dallas Mavericks and Detroit Pistons battle it out in Little Caesars Arena.
Mavericks vs. Pistons Prediction: Jalen Duren Under 11.5 Rebounds (-125 on Bet365)
The Dallas Mavericks are woefully injured but struggling and surviving. They are currently sixth in Western Conference and have won two matches in a row. The Detroit Pistons are playing better this year but lack consistency. Thus, they are hovering around .500 this season and are currently on a three-game losing streak.
Daniel Gafford, the starting center for the Dallas Mavericks, has really stepped it up in the absence of Dereck Lively. In his last eight games he is averaging over ten rebounds per game and is playing over thirty minutes per game. He is a much bigger and stronger center than Jalen Duren of the Pistons.
Jalen Duren has been inconsistent all season, and Isaiah Stewart was ejected in the Pistons most recent match. Despite that Duren still only earned ten rebounds, but in the previous match earned sixteen rebounds in less minutes playing. He can be difficult to accurately predict.
Stewart is playing tonight, and he should have a good game to make up for his early ejection against the Indiana Pacers. P.J. Washington and Daniel Gafford and other Mavericks players will have plenty of opportunities for rebounds and will be a problem for Duren as well. Earning over 11.5 rebounds will be difficult for Duren with capable rebounders for the Mavericks. Put a unit on the pick for him to go under 11.5 rebounds.
