NBA Best Bets & Player Props January 14: Bruce Brown Returns To Denver
What a smashing success yesterday was, three of three with a 3.64 unit gain. As difficult as it is to imagine, the NBA season is entering the last week of the first half of the season. The sportsbooks are dialing in their algorithm as yesterday’s teased bet of Oklahoma City Thunder and Milwaukee Bucks were within 0.5 points of their projection… exactly what the sportsbooks want. Hence why we teased down to cover the hook and some. Today there are five NBA games and although none are nationally televised there are some great games taking place. Giannis Antetokounmpo’s under bet came in yesterday, and the Milwaukee Bucks are playing in back-to-back games against Domantas Sabonis and the Sacramento Kings. There is a favorable player prop in that match. The Fantasy Alarm NBA Best Bet of the Day is a double down, for last season he was an ‘Ace up the sleeve’.
BET OF THE NIGHT
BRUCE BROWN OVER 3.5 REBOUNDS (-105 BetMGM; 2 Units)
Bruce Brown makes his return to Denver, and becomes the last player from last year’s championship team to receive his ring. He was an important piece of the 2022-23 Denver Nuggets championship team, and will forever be loved by Nuggets fans for his outstanding playoff performance as the sixth man. He has not played more than twenty-eight minutes in a game this month, has only covered this prop twice in five games, and is playing against a good rebounding team. However Bruce Brown has somewhat changed his role in the absence of Tyrese Haliburton, giving way to teammate Aaron Nesmith. The Indiana Pacers will be without both T. Haliburton and A. Nesmith tonight, as it is the first of back-to-back games. Brown knows his old and new teammates, he knows both of the coaching staff's tendencies, and will be asked to shoulder more responsibility with two starting teammates out. Rebounds are an effort stat, and the beloved Bruce Brown will give effort on the day he is given his ring.
NBA PLAYER PROP BETS
BRUCE BROWN OVER 10.5 POINTS (-110 BetMGM; 2 Units)
The double-down was mentioned earlier and it is now the reality. If you prefer to put the two bets on a same game parlay, it would be better odds. Bruce Brown will be asked to play more minutes, and take over as the scorer and rebounder of this offense. The Indiana Pacers were in Denver yesterday and B. Brown could have been doing anything, but he was doing what he loves. He was at the Western Stock Yards Rodeo watching cow roping… Yep, that's Brucey B. in his element. He was doing what he did several times while with the Denver Nuggets. Rhythm, happiness, receiving your hard earned championship ring in front of an arena that truly adores you, paired with more playing minutes should lead to more production. He has covered this prop in four of his five games played this month. There are some factors algorithms can not account for, and the points are well within play.
GIANNIS ANTETOKOUNMPO UNDER 34.5 POINTS (-125 BetMGM)
One of my favorite coaches would often say, “If ain’t broke don’t fix it.” So taking coach’s advice we are running this bet and running it back. Giannis Antetokounmpo was at 33.5 yesterday and his under was mentioned against the Golden State Warriors. Tonight the Milwaukee Bucks host the Sacramento Kings, who have a much better center in Domantas Sabonis. The line has moved up one point and slightly juiced. Antetokounmpo played over thirty-six minutes yesterday, including into the fourth quarter, to help close out what was a single digit lead. Tonight he plays against a better defensive paint presence in D. Sabonis who is playing well and has a day's rest. Antetokounmpo is in excellent shape, but his average per game is four points less than the line on tough back-to-back games. Take advantage of a high point line and get back-to-back wins on the same prop.
