The Labor Day main slate on FanDuel and DraftKings begin at 6:40pm EST, whereas Yahoo Fantasy added a couple of late afternoon games into the mix. On a smaller slate, you have to get creative, and that can be done with what MLB DFS stacks you decide to use, and just what value hitters you use in particular. On the mound, the options are limited, and to me, there’s two or three options that take the cake as my favorite MLB DFS plays of the day. Chicago’s Lance Lynn is looking to continue his impressive stretch after being called a fantasy baseball bust by many, and I give you an interesting mini-stack you can use in your lineups. Here are my favorite value plays for your MLB DFS lineups for the main slate on Monday, September 5.

 

 

MLB DFS VALUE PITCHERS

Lance Lynn, CWS ($9,300 FD/$7,900 DK)

The Mariners can pop off at any given point, but over the last two weeks, while they are about league average in terms of strikeout rate, they rank 24th in batting average, and around league average in terms of wOBA (.308). After a rocky start to the season, Lynn has turned it around of late, allowing two or fewer earned runs in four straight starts, while notching at least six strikeouts in each start. During this four start run, he has a 1.82 ERA, 10.58 K/9, and 0.73 BB/9. The price point on DraftKings is nearly impossible to pass up.

Andrew Heaney, LAD ($9,400 FD) 

Heaney might be the chalk tonight if I’m being honest. The Giants have the fourth-highest strikeout rate over the last two weeks against left-handed pitching, and only six teams have a worse batting average than San Francisco during that stretch. In seven starts since returning to the rotation, Heaney has a 2.87 ERA, 13.50 K/9, and 2.30 BB/9. He has an insane 28 strikeouts over his last 15.2 innings of work, and he’s in line to thrive once again in another good matchup for the veteran left-hander.

Honorable Mention: Hunter Brown ($26 Yahoo)

MLB DFS VALUE HITTERS

Riley Greene, DET ($3,400 FD) 

Los Angeles’ José Suarez hasn’t exactly been generous to left-handed hitters this season, but Greene has been solid against lefties, posting a .280 average against southpaws. During his impressive 13-game hit streak, Greene is slashing .396/.458/.623 with 10 runs scored, and six RBI. A mini-stack with Greene and this next guy could be an intriguing option on such a small slate.

Eric Haase, DET ($2,900 FD/$3,300 DK/$9 Yahoo) 

Haase has a .724 OPS against southpaws this season, and over his last 14 games, he has a .395 SLG and 108 wRC+. At near minimum price on Yahoo, he’s your catcher over there for the evening, especially if you’re buying into his increased average exit velocity over the last two or so weeks.

Stone Garrett, ARI ($2,900 FD/$2,600 DK) 

Albeit a limited sample size, Garrett has a 1.286 OPS and 262 wRC+ against southpaws this season, and in games that he has started, he’s hit .414 with a .724 SLG and 216 wRC+. Blake Snell has a 4.25 ERA at home this season, and he’s allowed a .381 SLG to RHH (compared to .242 for LHH) in 2022.

AJ Pollock, CWS ($3,300 FD/$3,400 DK/$12 Yahoo) 

During his seven-game hit streak, Pollock has two home runs, two doubles, a .615 SLG, .423 wOBA, and 182 wRC+. Pollock has a .962 OPS against southpaws this season, and Seattle’s Marco Gonzalez is coming off a rough month of August where he posted a 5.08 ERA, 1.51 WHIP, and .316 BAA. Right-handed hitters have a .281 batting average against Gonzalez this season

Elvis Andrus, CWS ($2,500 FD/$2,800 DK/$11 Yahoo)

Since joining the White Sox, Andrus has posted a .290/.323/.435 line with two home runs, 11 RBI, and one stolen base. He’s worked his way to the top of the order, and if the White Sox are going to get to Marco Gonzalez, it starts with Andrus setting the table for the sluggers behind him. He’s hitting .394 during his eight-game hit streak, and he has a .265 batting average and .764 OPS against lefties this season.
