MLB DFS Value Vault September 27: Garrett Mitchell Looks to Stay Hot Against Cardinals
Tonight’s slate is consistent across the board as DraftKings, Yahoo and FanDuel will all use a 12-game slate starting at 7:05 pm ET. Starting pitching is headlined by guys like Lance McCullers Jr., Robbie Ray, and Zack Wheeler, all of which are over $10,000 on DK so finding value will be needed. I really like the cheap values in good spots on Logan Webb and Patrick Sandoval. The top value bat for me today is Jarred Kelenic, who is in a great spot today to find success. We don’t have any MLB weather concerns on this slate but make sure to check the weather center leading up to first pitch. Lastly, don’t forget to check out MLB implied runs totals using our Vegas Odds link and use our MLB DFS lineup generator. Let’s dive into our MLB DFS picks today!
DFS Value Pitchers
Logan Webb, Giants (DraftKings - $7200)
Webb has pitched well this season with a 2.84 ERA and 155 strikeouts across 183.2 innings of work with a 14-8 record. He has a 2.50 ERA with a 0.83 WHIP across 18 innings (three starts) against the Rockies this season. The Rockies offense is abysmal on the road and Webb should have no issue shutting them down in San Francisco.
Patrick Sandoval, Angels (DraftKings - $6900)
Sandoval’s price has me a bit surprised, given how well he has pitched this season and the fact that he is facing the Oakland A’s. He has a 3.02 ERA on the year with 141 Ks across 137.1 innings and he has a 2.72 ERA over his last 10 starts. He has dominated Oakland this season, giving up just two runs across 13.2 innings and averaging 24.2 dk points per start against them. The A’s are 29th in the league in scoring, so Sandoval should be able to continue to dominate them.
DFS Value Hitters
Jarred Kelenic, Mariners (DraftKings - $2200 / FanDuel - $2300 / Yahoo - $10)
Kelenic has actually looked really good since making his return to the Mariners a couple of days ago as he has gone 6-16 (.375) with a home run, two walks, three doubles, and five runs scored across four games of action. He provides both power and speed upside at a very cheap price tag for us and has a matchup against the Rangers in what is going to be a bullpen game for them (Tinoco is starting and he will probably only go about three innings).
Raimel Tapia, Blue Jays (DraftKings - $2500 / FanDuel - $2200 / Yahoo - $10)
Tapia is slashing .265/.286/.471 over his last 10 games with five extra-base hits, a steal, seven RBI, and six runs scored. He has four games with at least 11 DK points over his last eight contests and three multi-hit games in that span. He gets to face Taillon, who has a 4.26 ERA across his last 10 starts and has a 4.42 ERA on the road this season (3.47 ERA at home).
Garrett Mitchell, Brewers (DraftKings - $2000 / FanDuel - $2200 / Yahoo - $8)
Mitchell is slashing .391/.440/.435 over his last 10 games with a pair of stolen bases. He is hitting .267 with a home run and five stolen bases through his first 21 games in the bigs (only 45 at-bats as he has been used as a pinch-runner and defensive replacement). He is slashing .321/.406/.464 at home this season with all of his counting stats, compared to .176/.222/.176 on the road. He faces Mikolas, who has been struggling with a 4.43 ERA over his last 10 starts.
Other Potential Value Plays
Zack Wheeler, Phillies (Yahoo - $34)
Ezequiel Tovar, Rockies (DraftKings - $2100 / FanDuel - $2200 / Yahoo - $11)
Lars Nootbaar, Cardinals (FanDuel - $2700)
Jeff McNeil, Mets (FanDuel - $2600 / Yahoo - $12)
