MLB DFS Value Pitchers

 

Mitch Keller (PIT); DraftKings - $5,800; FanDuel - $7,800; Yahoo - $34

In two of Keller’s last four starts, the right-hander hit around 25 DK points with 17 and 15 in his other two games. At this price point, we can certainly live with any of those results, and it is especially intriguing to see his price drop by $1.4k. In his last start against the Mets, Keller turned in a quality start while striking out batters and the sledding should be easier tonight against the Cubs. Talent and upside were never the issue for the right-hander and in three starts so far this month, Keller has a 1.42 ERA while striking out 14 batters to bring his ERA for the season to a solid 4.03 on the season. With a 6.9% barrel-rate and eight-degree average angle, Keller has been able to limit the damage against him as well. 

 

Hunter Greene (CIN); DraftKings - $7,500; FanDuel - $8,200; Yahoo - $36

I wrote Greene up earlier today on the seasonal side as a wavier wire pickup and similar logic applies here for the right-hander. If you dipping into the value side of pitching, there is already a certain level of risk being assumed and it is all about the upside. When it comes to strikeouts, few pitchers have more than Greene who struck out 11 batters in six shutout innings against the Cardinals in his return to action on Saturday. In 108.2 innings this season, Greene has 138 strikeouts and the Brewers’ lineup does not generate an incredible amount of fear. 

MLB DFS Value Hitters

 

Oswaldo Cabrera, OF/SS/3B (NYY); DraftKings - $2,800; FanDuel - $2,500; Yahoo - $10

Cabrera has turned himself into an everyday player for the Yankees and he has three multi-hit games out of his last five. While he is still batting just .231 on the season, Cabrera hit his third home run of the season last night and in 30 games to this point he has 15 RBI and 15 runs scored. All three of those home runs and 11 of his RBI have come over his last 10 games in which Cabrera is hitting .314.

 

Harrison Bader, OF (NYY); DraftKings - $2,600; FanDuel - $2,700; Yahoo - $13

This is not meant to truly attack Michael Wacha but it is a strong night for pitching which does bring him a little further down the list. Additionally, Bader is priced pretty reasonably as this is only his third game for the Yankees after missing more than two months with a foot injury. In his first two games, Bader has fit right in going three for eight with five RBI and two runs scored. 

 

Aledmys Díaz, 2B/OF/SS/3B (HOU); DraftKings - $3,500; FanDuel - $2,200; Yahoo - $13

Make your lineup and then come back and throw Diaz into what ever spot is left. With Jose Altuve sidelined tonight, Diaz gets the start at second base and also finds himself batting second for a strong offensive team against a hittable young starter in Kyle Braddish. In his last 10 games, Diaz is hitting .303 with two home runs and seven RBI and he has proven to be a capable veteran bat when give then chance this season. The fact that he is practically free on FD does not hurt either. 

 

Rodolfo Castro, 2B/3B/SS (PIT); DraftKings - $2,600; FanDuel - $2,500; Yahoo - $17

Castro has found his way into the middle of the order for Pittsburgh and the production has been there as of late for the streaky infielder. Over his last 10 games, Castro is hitting .293 with four home runs, 11 RBI, and eight RBI and at this point in the season, there is nothing wrong with riding the hot hand. With the wind blowing out in Pittsburgh tonight, it could represent a favorable situation for Castro who is also facing a young pitcher in Hayden Wesneski with limited Major League experience.
