This slate is stacked with high-priced arms like Max Scherzer and Carlos Rodón and top dollar team stacks so you will need to find some value plays and that’s where we come in. I have spent the morning researching and coming up with the best point per dollar plays on the slate. So, let’s get right into it and open Friday’s MLB DFS Value Vault.

 

 

VALUE ARMS

Tyler Mahle (MIN) $8.5K DK/$9.0K FD/$43 Yahoo

With a group of high-priced arms tonight Tyler Mahle falls in under the mid-value category. He has a high ceiling dream matchup with the free-swinging Angels, and this is the best spot that he has been in since his trade from the Reds.  They are striking out 25.1% to right-handed pitching on the season and over the last two weeks they have a horrible team .135 ISO/.270wOBA with a 25.4% K rate and a sub 100 wRC+. His strikeouts are down on the season but with a 1.01 WHIP over his last five starts and an 18 DKFP average Mahle is firmly in play tonight in tournaments.

Jordan Montgomery (STL) $6.8K DK/$8.5K FD/$34 Yahoo

Jordan Montgomery returns to the hill tonight as the Cardinals open a three-game series at pitcher-friendly Busch Stadium with the Brewers. This will be Montgomery’s second start since last week, when the Yankees traded him for injured outfielder Harrison Bader. JMo made his Cards debut last Saturday against his former Yankee team and looked like an ace by dealing five shutout innings in a 1-0 win. With a 4-3 record and 3.53 ERA/1.08 WHIP on the season he gets a solid matchup tonight against the reeling Brewers who are striking out at a high 25.9% clip to LHP and a bad .098 ISO.

 

VALUE BATS

Rougned Odor (BAL) $2.0K DK/$2.3K FD/$9 Yahoo

Of course, Rougned Odor is always a “boom or bust” GPP play but you have to love the matchup tonight against right-handed Corey Kluber, where he is 8-for-19 (.421) with three bombs. With a .186 ISO and 36% hard contact against right-handers Odor is at minimum price and facing a pitcher that is allowing a 40% flyball rate along with 37% hard contact. Odor should be a piece of Orioles stacks tonight. 

Christian Arroyo (BOS) $2.0K DK/$2.3K FD

Yahoo is the only site that respects Christian Arroyo as DraftKings and FanDuel remain asleep at the wheel. He is on fire – hitting .400 over the last week with a .447 wOBA and .410 over the last 30 days with a home run and .220 ISO/.461wOBA. This price is a steal as Arroyo has 10 hits over his last six games and will be facing right-handed Domingo Germán who has struggled in the RvR split this season by allowing a .382 IDO/.445Woba.

Darin Ruf (NYM) $3.6K DK/$2.6K FD 

Darin Ruf has made Mets fans very happy in his short stint since being traded from the Giants. The right-handed hitting platoon specialist is 5-for-15 with a couple of doubles and five RBIs since the trade and should rake tonight against Phillies southpaw Ranger Suárez. Ruf has a .298 ISO/.401wOBA over his last two seasons on the platoon split with a 42% flyball and 48% hard contact rate plus is slashing .256/.359/.521.
