Yoshinobu Yamamoto MLB Underdog Fantasy Pick: Higher Than 6.5 Strikeouts
There’s always a piece of me that remains suspicious when I see a guy’s line at 6.5 strikeouts, and he’s struck out at last nine in three of his last four starts. But the -155 odds Vegas is giving me on him tossing more makes me feel a little more comfortable in making this selection.
The Pirates are posting a 26.1-percent strikeout rate against righthanded pitching this season and their .271 wOBA definitely points towards Yamamoto dominating them. He and Paul Skenes are going to battle in what should be an exciting match-up, so I expect him to give a little extra tonight.
T.J. Friedl MLB Underdog Fantasy Pick: Higher Than 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBI
I don’t typically invest in lefty-on-lefty crime but am happy to in this case. Friedl just happens to be one of those lefthanded hitters who hits lefties better than he hits righties. It’s not an exact science as he’s seen more than four times as many at-bats against righties as he’s had against lefties, but he’s still batting .300 with a .374 wOBA over 200 at-bats against southpaws for his career.
This season, he’s hitting .300 (with a .355 wOBA) against lefties and with a seven-game hit streak riding, I expect to see him in the lineup against Kyle Freeland and finding success as well.
Tyler Soderstrom MLB Underdog Fantasy Pick: Higher Than 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBI
I think the real question is – how do you NOT invest in Soderstrom tonight against White Sox righthander Sean Burke and his 6.22 ERA and 1.52 WHIP? Burke allowed five earned runs on six hits and two walks the last time he faced the Athletics which was on April 15 in Chicago.
Now we get Sutter Health Park which is insanely hitter-friendly and Soderstrom is ready to yank another one out of the park like he did in their first meeting. We don’t need to get greedy with home run calls, but a simple HRR pick here should be a no-brainer for our ticket.

Tigers optioned INF Jace Jung to Triple-A Toledo.
Jung just didn’t have it in his limited time with Detroit, as the 24-year-old went just 5-for-45 before the Tigers had seen enough. With the infielder now in Toledo, Zach McKinstry and Andy Ibanez will likely split time at the hot corner. Neither is worthy of a fantasy addition.
Tigers selected the contract of OF Akil Baddoo from Triple-A Toledo.
Baddoo will take the roster spot of the struggling Jace Jung. The 26-year-old has shown flashes in his time of being more than organizational depth, but not enough of them on a consistent basis to suggest he’s anything more than a role player.
Adley Rutschman is not in the starting lineup against the Twins in the second game of a doubleheader Wednesday.
Rutschman went hitless during the first game of the billing, and is hitting a very disappointing 199/.297/.331 to open the 2025 campaign. Maverick Handley is getting the start behind the plate and he’ll hit ninth.
Dodgers selected the contract of C Dalton Rushing from Triple-A Oklahoma City.
While the Dodgers list Rushing just at catcher, it’s worth noting he’s also played first base and spent some time in the outfield as well. The 24-year-old is the top prospect in the Dodgers’ system, and while his playing time might be a bit inconsistent to begin his big-league career, those who need a fantasy backstop upgrade could do worse than giving Rushing a chance. The long-term potential is much brighter than 2025, however.
Rob Refsnyder (back) is hitting cleanup and playing right field against the Tigers on Wednesday.
Refsnyder has been out of the starting lineup with tightness in his lower back, but is feeling well enough to hit in the middle of the order against Tark Skubal and Detroit. Wilyer Abreu takes a seat against the defending Cy Young winner.
Chayce McDermott will serve as the 27th player and start the second game of Wednesday’s doubleheader against the Twins.
McDermott will be making his second career MLB start in the second game of the twin-billing. The 26-year-old missed the first month of the 2025 season with a lat strain, and it seems likely that he’ll be on a limited pitch/inning count for this contest. Fantasy managers should look elsewhere.
