Underdog Fantasy MLB Picks - Best Picks & Plays for September 27: Lance McCullers Racks Up Strikeouts Against Arizona

After having just four games on the Major League Baseball slate yesterday, we have a full 15 game slate today, which means a bevy of MLB player props from which to choose. After looking at the board and crunching the numbers, Lance McCullers and Matt Olson stood out above the rest, and will headline my best baseball bets of the day. McCullers gets a great matchup against a struggling Arizona lineup, and Matt Olson’s numbers are trending up after slumping for the majority of September. If you are playing some daily fantasy baseball today, McCullers and Olson are both guys I’d strongly consider in your MLB DFS lineups, too. Here are my favorite MLB player props and Underdog plays of the day for Tuesday, September 27.
Underdog Fantasy MLB Player Pick'Ems September 27
Lance McCullers Jr. OVER 6.5 Strikeouts
Over the last two weeks, the Diamondbacks have the second-highest strikeout rate against right-handed pitching, coming in at a whopping 29.1 percent! As McCullers has gotten further and further removed from injury, he’s looked sharper, and sharper. The Houston right-hander has seven or more strikeouts in three of his last four starts, and with him handling a full workload on the bump, he should mow down this Arizona lineup that has struggled over the last two weeks, especially against righties.
UPDATE: McCullers was scratched with an illness.
Matt Olson OVER 6.5 Fantasy Points
Olson is 3-for-7 with one home run in his career against Paolo Espino, and the Washington right-hander has served up a .291 average and .325 wOBA to left-handed hitters this season. Furthermore, he has a 1.71 HR/9 at home this season, and while Olson has slumped a bit in September, his hard contact is trending up of late, and this 6.5 fantasy points line is simply too low for Olson. Over his last eight games, despite hitting just .240, he has a 104 wRC+ and a 10.3 percent walk rate. One hit, a walk, and one run or RBI gives us the over, and I’ll take those odds with Olson against Espino and his 4.94 ERA as a starter this season.
Other Leans:
- Patrick Sandoval OVER 6 Strikeouts
