College football and playoff baseball all day long are surely going to make for an excellent Saturday on October 15! Whether you’re playing MLB player props at Underdog Fantasy or building daily fantasy baseball lineups for the full slate, I crunched the numbers and sifted through the data to find the lines for us to attack. We are going to look at a couple of left-handers who have been some of the best hitters in the MLB postseason thus far, including Houston’s Yordan Alvarez who just might be the most feared hitter on the planet at this juncture. I also include one lean for you as I like Ronald Acuña Jr.’s outlook against Noah Syndergaard. Check out our daily projections and MLB Vegas odds to potentially uncover other player props or MLB DFS plays. Here are my favorite MLB player props and Underdog Fantasy picks of the day for Saturday, October 15.

MLB Underdog Top Picks & Plays October 15

Bryce Harper, Philadelphia Phillies
OVER 7.5 Fantasy Points

It looks as if the stars are aligning a bit for a big day from Mr. Harper this afternoon. He’s been impressive in the postseason thus far, slashing .444/.500/.944 through five games with three doubles, two home runs, four RBI, and two walks. Beyond that, he’s very familiar with Atlanta’s Charlie Morton, and he’s 10-for-24 in his career against Morton, good for a .417 average and .500 wOBA. Additionally, this game is being played at Citizens Bank Park, and guess who has struggled a bit on the road this year?

  • Morton had a 5.72 ERA on the road in the regular season.
  • Morton had a 5.47 ERA across five starts against Philadelphia in the regular season.
  • Morton had a 7.04 ERA in three starts at Citizens Bank Park in the regular season.

Harper might have been better on the road this year than at home, but there’s no denying his prowess against righties, as he hit them at a .300clip with a .924 OPS. However, despite hitting just .244 at home overall, when facing a right-hander at home, he hit .298 with a 1.020 OPS and 170 wRC+

Yordan Alvarez, Houston Astros,
OVER 1.5 Total Bases

The fear here is that Seattle just doesn’t throw to Alvarez often, but George Kirby does have some reverse splits, so perhaps Jose Altuve and Jeremy Peña get on base, and then they have to throw to Alvarez. The left-handed slugger is 4-for-8 with two home runs and seven RBI through his first two postseason games this year, sporting an insane 1.375 SLG and 1.931 OPS. On the road in the regular season, he posted a .318 average and 1.024 OPS, and at T-Mobile park in particular, he hit .294 with a .471 SLG and .821 OPS. While he went hitless versus George Kirby across two at-bats, he hit Seattle pitching at a .327 clip this year with a 1.091 OPS across 64 plate appearances.

Other Leans:

  • Ronald Acuna, Atlanta Braves - OVER 8.5 Fantasy Points
