Underdog Fantasy MLB Picks - Best Picks & Plays for June 25: Logan Gilbert To Pick Up The Strikeouts
We now have almost three months of Major League Baseball data to look at and that just means more confidence as we look over the MLB Props Board at Underdog Fantasy. First, Logan Gilbert is in a tasty matchup against a high-strikeout and Los Angeles Angels offense while Patrick Sandoval faces a Mariners squad in the same contest that have been striking out a ton against left-handed pitching. Then we have some big offense on the slate tonight and hitters like Mike Trout and Javier Báez that are both red-hot with juicy props.
Check our MLB Weather Center to make sure that all games will be dry and there are no surprising pop-up storms during roster lock. To get all the confirmed starting lineups make sure to go to the MLB Lineups page. We also have an MLB DFS Lineup Generator and MLB Player Projections to make all of your fantasy baseball lineups. Now let’s take a look at my four favorite props on Underdog Fantasy for Saturdays night’s baseball action.
Logan Gilbert (SEA) OVER 6.0 Strikeouts
Gilbert gets an Angels offense that is striking out 26.2% (30% last two weeks) to right-handed pitching – the worst in the major leagues. He now has seven straight quality starts and if he can get by the Mike Trout/Shohei Ohtani combo it should be smooth sailing against an offense that has been completely stagnant. Gilbert has also finished six innings or more in each of his last seven starts putting him in also play for the OVER in 18 pitching outs.
Patrick Sandoval (LAA) OVER 5.5 Strikeouts
Patrick Sandoval comes into tonight’s game against Seattle with a 9.3 K/9 rate over his last five starts. He has a 23.3% strikeout rate but it jumps to 27.9% at home where he also has a low 2.96xFIP. Sandoval has recorded six strikeouts or more in 4 of his 6 home starts and now gets the Mariners who strikeout 22.8% to southpaws (12th in the league) and have gone over this prop against lefties in five of their last 6 games.
Mike Trout OVER 1.5 Total Bases
I will continue to play the Trout over prop in every game. He continues to be the hottest hitter on the planet with nine home runs over his last 13 games which also includes a .340 average and .660 ISO/.575wOBA in that span. Trout owns the Mariners and hit a bomb off Gilbert last weekend, which was just one of six that he has hit against Seattle in six games this season. One look at Trout’s Statcast numbers on the season tell the story- he is top 1% in the league with a .693xSLG; .4341wOBA and .442XwOBA plus he is in the top 5% with a 54.2% hard hit rate; 92.6 exit velocity and 114.4 Max EV.
Javier Báez (BOS) OVER 1.5 Total Bases
Javier Báez is back! After a couple of months of slumping the slugger is crushing. He is one of the streakiest hitters in the game and continued his tear with a grand slam off Merrill Kelly last night. He now has four home runs in his last five games and is hitting .420 with a .667 ISO/.615wOBA over the last week. Tonight, he faces Zach Davies, an absolute gas can of a pitcher, so chances are the hot streak continues at least one more game.
