MLB Underdog Fantasy Top Picks April 20

Kodai Senga, New York Mets – OVER 6.0 Strikeouts

We’ve been picking against the San Francisco Giants a lot this year for strikeout props and we’ll do it again tonight. The Giants have a league-high 27.7% strikeout rate this season and an MLB-worst 27% K rate vs. right-handed pitching. Against righties over the past week, San Fran’s lineup has an even higher 31.1% strikeout rate. Enter Kodai Senga, who has at least six punchouts in all three starts so far. The New York Mets right-hander has K totals of eight, six, and seven in his outings this season and now gets the most ideal matchup for racking up strikeouts. It’s going to take time for MLB teams to get a good scouting report on Senga’s stuff and he’s confusing hitters left and right to begin the year. Look for Senga to go over six Ks against the Giants tonight.

Brandon Marsh, Philadelphia Phillies – OVER 0.5 Singles

While Bryson Stott, Alec Bohm, and Trea Turner are claiming most of the headlines from the Phillies offense, Brandon Marsh is also on fire at the plate right now. The outfielder has a .368 batting average to begin the season and he’s hit safely in 13 of 17 games so far. Ideally, we’d target a total bases prop here, but we’ll settle for Marsh to have at least one single tonight. He has five singles in the past three games and eight singles in the past 12 games. Plus, of Marsh’s 16 hits against right-handed pitching this season, nine have gone for singles. He also has a fair amount of extra-base hits, but the production is spread out. The lefty-hitting Marsh will face Colorado Rockies right-hander Ryan Feltner, who’s struggled to an 8.78 ERA and 1.95 WHIP through three starts this season. Feltner has allowed 15 hits over 13.1 innings so far. Marsh, meanwhile, is hitting .390 against righties this year and .438 at home in Philadelphia. Though they are some small sample sizes, Marsh should have success against a subpar pitcher tonight.
