Jarren Duran Sleeper Fantasy MLB Pick: More Than 1.5 Total Bases (1.79x)
The Braves are re-calling Bryce Elder today to make a start against the Boston Red Sox and that could be tough sledding for him. Meet Jarren Duran, who hits right-handed pitching extremely well. He has a .287 AVG with .179 ISO and .357 wOBA against them this year and Bryce Elder has gotten really lucky against lefties. The .153 ISO and .224 xISO don’t exactly align and neither does the .325 wOBA and .401 xwOBA. That probably has something to do with the .254 BABIP, but I don’t buy the 6% SwStr and 14% K-rate.
Juan Soto Sleeper Fantasy MLB Pick: More Than 1.5 Hits+Runs+RBI (1.61x)
Although things seem like they’re at DEFCON 1 levels for Juan Soto, they’re not. In fact, against left-handed pitching, he’s hitting .300 with an .861 OPS this season. His matchup against Carson Palmquist is a great one as lefties – albeit in a small sample – have a .267 ISO and .451 xISO and .489 wOBA and .517 xwOBA against him. Soto should continue to build on his last two days against a rookie pitcher that’s struggling.

Player News
Astros general manager Dana Brown said Spencer Arrighetti (thumb) “could throw off the mound” on Tuesday.
Arrighetti was supposed to throw off the mound last week, but did not. If he does throw off the mound on Tuesday, it would be his first side session since breaking his thumb back at the beginning of the season. At this point, we may not see Arighetti in Houston until early August.
Michael Massey (ankle) will begin a rehab assignment this week with Triple-A Omaha.
Massey has been on the IL since June 10th with a sprained left ankle. He began full baseball activities last week and will now step up his rehab with full games. It’s unclear what kind of playing time he might return to.
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Marcus Stroman (knee) will “be in the mix” for activation off the IL later this week.
Stroman is scheduled to throw approximately 70 pitches on Tuesday in a Triple-A start and then could be activated for a weekend start if all goes well. The Yankees have an open spot in the rotation with Ryan Yarbrough (oblique) landing on the IL. Allan Winans will start on Monday, and it seems like he or Stroman will be the choices for a weekend spot in the rotation.
Daulton Varsho (hamstring) could begin a rehab assignment this week.
Over the weekend, Varsho ran the bases without any pain, which was a big step for him. He’s been on the IL since June 1st and might need a week of rehab games before returning to Toronto at the beginning of July.
Brooks Baldwin went 2-for-5 with a solo home run for Triple-A Charlotte on Sunday.
Baldwin is now up to 10 home runs in the minors with a .375 average and a 1.225 OPS. He deserves another shot to be a regular in the White Sox lineup.
Esteury Ruiz went 3-for-5 with two home runs, three RBI, three runs scored, and a steal for Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sunday.
Ruiz is now up to six home runs and 35 steals while slashing .281/.386/.425 in 60 games. He remains below average as a defender, which could impact his future playing time, but if a spot opens up in the Dodgers’ outfield, Ruiz would be right back on fantasy radars.
