Framber Valdez PrizePicks MLB Pick: More Than 5.5 Strikeouts
There hasn’t been much to love about Framber Valdez’s 2024 campaign, but maybe he’s been a little unlucky and nothing like getting back on track with the Marlins on the schedule. They’re dead last in most offensive categories against left-handed pitching this year and they’ve progressively gotten worse with the strikeouts, too.
They have a 21% K-rate against lefties for the season, but over the last month, it’s 24.7%, which is the ninth-highest mark in the league. There’s positive regression coming for Valdez in the strikeout department as his 19% K-rate this year is three-percent lower than his career mark and over four-percent lower than his last two seasons.
- Pick: More Than 5.5 Strikeouts
Paul Goldschmidt PrizePicks MLB Pick: Less Than 1.5 Hits+Runs+RBI
This has been the worst year of Paul Goldschmidt’s career, and the signs of regression were beginning last season. Against right-handed pitching this season, Goldschmidt has a .627 OPS and a 30% strikeout rate.
Alec Marsh, starting pitcher for the Royals, has struggled against right-handed batters, but there are plenty of underlying numbers suggesting he’s been unlucky against them. Despite the struggles, Marsh has a 9.92 K/9 and 25% K-rate against righties, which has been Goldschmidt’s Achilles heel. I don’t like this spot at all for Goldschmidt.
