Fantasy Football Week 10 Waiver Advice

Well Week 9 of the fantasy football season is in the books, there was again some injuries to key players which will have fantasy owners heading to the waiver wires to replace.  The upcoming Week 10 schedule is the bye week for the Bills, Lions, Colts and Raiders so some big names will be on some fantasy benches this week as well.  With that said let’s take a look at the top players to add heading into Week 10.

-FAAB bids based off of $100 budget

Quarterback

Carson Wentz, PHI- Wentz is coming off a game where he threw a career high 364 passing yards against the Giants but he failed to find the end zone and tossed two interceptions.  In Week 10 he gets to face a Falcons defense that has allowed four passing touchdowns in each of the last two weeks which includes a four touchdown performance by Jameis Winston on Thursday night football in Week 9.  Wentz has been a below average fantasy quarterback for most of this season but the matchup make him an intriguing option for those looking for a bye week replacement.

FAAB Bid $0-$5

Joe Flacco, BAL-  The decision with Flacco here is purely based off matchup as the rule of thumb this season has been to insert any QB against the Cleveland Browns and watch them throw touchdown passes.  In week 9 against the Steelers Flacco threw for 241 yards with one touchdown and one interception for a mediocre fantasy day but he gets to face a Browns defense which has allowed at least two touchdown passes in all but one week this season which includes a two touchdown performance by Joe Flacco in Week 2.  With the receiving weapons around him and the Browns seemingly getting worse as the season moves along Flacco could be in for a solid fantasy performance.

FAAB Bid $0-$5

Jay Cutler, CHI- Cutler returned as the Bears starting QB in Week 8 and threw for 252 yards and one touchdown against a solid Vikings defense.  In Week 9 the Bears were on a bye which should have given him plenty of time to prepare for the Buccaneers who are allowing the fifth most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this season.  A healthy and engaged Alshon Jeffery will continue to be Cutler’s favorite target and those two should have little trouble connecting against this Tampa defense.

FAAB Bid- $0-$5

Running Back

Peyton Barber, TB–  The Buccaneers are quite literally down to their last healthy running back heading into Week 10 against the Bears as Doug Martin, Jacquizz Rodgers and Antone Smith are all out with injuries.  In Week 9 Barber carried the ball 11 times for 31 yards and added four catches for 24 yards so there is hope for some production here given his ability to contribute in the passing game.  The Bears however are allowing the fewest fantasy points to opposing running backs this season so fantasy owners may want to temper their expectations with the type of output Barber can produce this week.

FAAB Bid- $10-$15

Chris Ivory, Jax– It has been a disappointing season for the Jaguars running game and it is not totally the fault of Chris Ivory as the team is often trailing and forced to throw but in Week 9 against a solid Chiefs defense he finally broke out and rushed for 107 yards on 18 carries.  T.J. Yeldon is still involved in the offense but used primarily as a receiver which leads the early down and goal line work to Ivory.  He is currently available in 40 percent of standard leagues and given the injuries at the position this season he is a must own.

FAAB Bid- $10-$15

Tim Hightower, NO – Hightower proved that his breakout performance in Week 8 was no fluke as rushed for 87 yards and a touchdown against the 49ers in Week 9.  Hightower saw 23 carries to Mark Ingram’s 15 and while Ingram himself had a monster day it appears that in this high powered offense both are capable of putting up points.  In Week 10 the Saints will face off against the Broncos who are a great pass rush team however they are allowing the ninth most fantasy points to opposing running backs this season.

FAAB Bid-$10-$15

Wide Receiver

J.J. Nelson, Ari –The Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians told reporters that receiver J.J. Nelson will be the team's No. 2 wide receiver coming off the bye which makes him an immediate add in fantasy formats.  He is currently owned in under 10 percent of fantasy leagues so odds are that he is sitting out there for you to grab.  In Week 8 against the Panthers Nelson caught eight passes for 79 yards and two touchdowns to follow up his Week 7 performance where he gained 84 yards against the Jets.  The Cardinals still run an offense with multiple receiver sets and Larry Fitzgerald along with running back David Johnson will still be involved in the passing attack but it hard to ignore Nelson’s production in an offense that has little trouble scoring points.

FAAB Bid- $5-$10

Tyreek Hill, KC–  With news that Jeremy Maclin could be out for multiple weeks with a groin injury fantasy owners will look to grab both Chris Conley and Tyreek Hill.  Conley has been with the team longer but the rookie Hill has been more productive this season, having already caught four touchdown passes this season.  The Chiefs passing attack is nothing to write home about but Hill could end up being the No.1 receiver heading into Week 10 which makes him a must add for those in need of either replacing Maclin or general receiving help.

FAAB Bid- $5-$10

Marqise Lee, Jax- Lee has made this list a few times before but with news that Allen Hurns has entered the leagues concussion protocol his value once again comes into play.  Lee has been the Jaguars most consistent receiver for the most part this season, having caught 34-of-49 targets for 442 yards which gives him an average of four catches on six targets for 55 yards.  Without Hurns however his usage should increase in the Jagaurs passing attack and while teams focus on shutting down Allen Robinson fantasy owners, especially in PPR leagues, could see Lee come out with the better Week 10 performance.

FAAB Bid- $5-10

Tight End

C.J. Fiedorowicz, Hou– The matchup is not great this week for Fiedorowicz as the Texans face a Jaguars defense that is allowing the seventh fewest fantasy points to opposing tight ends but it is tough to ignore how involved Fiedorowicz is in the Texans passing attack and couple that with Will Fuller again dealing with a leg injury and we could see increased targets for Fiedorowicz in Week 10.

FAAB Bid- $5-$10

Zach Ertz, Phi– Ertz is coming off his best game of the season where he caught eight passes for 97 yards against the Giants.  He will look to ride that momentum into Week 10 where he faces off against a Falcons defense that is allowing the sixth most fantasy points to opposing tight ends.  This is a favorable matchup for the Eagles passing attack in Week 10 and I expect Ertz to once again play a key role in their offense.

FAAB Bid $5-$10

Lance Kendricks, LA – Kendricks did not disappoint fantasy owners in Week 9 as he caught seven passes for 90 yards against the Panthers.  In Week 10 the Rams will face a Jets defense that is allowing the ninth most fantasy points to opposing defenses this season and have really struggled against the pass in general this year which should lead to another solid fantasy output for Kendricks who is averaging nearly nine targets a game over the last three weeks.
