Every NFL team playing Sunday is required to issue a final injury report on Friday. The pair of teams playing Monday night will issue their final report Saturday. Here we will review all of the fantasy-relevant players dealing with ailments and how to plan accordingly. Keep in mind, however, the inactive list isn't due until 90 minutes before kickoff. As you start to put the final touches on those lineups, have a fallback plan or two at the ready in the event you will be dealing with an ailing player.
Injured Monday night players
John Brown, WR, Cardinals – Hamstring
Brown did not practice Friday after being limited Thursday. The downgrade is an eyebrow raiser, to say the least. Alternative plans must be strong considered if Brown also misses practice Saturday. Brown came into last week's game with an issue in the same hammy before hauling in 10 catches for nearly 200 yards against the Steelers.
Michael Floyd is a great play if Brown can't go. The opposing Baltimore Ravens got roasted for nearly 200 yards on only eight catches to Anquan Boldin and Torrey Smith in Week 6.
QUESTIONABLE (SUNDAY)
Ben Roethlisberger, QB, Steelers – Knee
Roethlisberger continues to get some light practice work in, but it looks like Landry Jones gets this start against the Chiefs. Big Ben is likely just a week or two away.
T.J. Yeldon, RB, Jaguars – Groin
Yeldon returned to practice Thursday and Friday after missing last week's game. However, this is a tough matchup against the Bills. Jacksonville gets a Week 8 bye prior to playing the Jets on the road. However, the schedule looks a lot easier the rest of the way. Some buy-low opportunities should arise over the coming weeks with JAX players.
Dion Lewis, RB, Patroits – Abdomen
This abdomen issue didn't keep Lewis out of practice or from playing last week.
Melvin Gordon, RB, Chargers – Ankle
Gordon should play, but for how many snaps? The rookie is coming off a bad game in which he was benched for the second half after two fumbles in his home state of Wisconsin . This matchup against the Raiders is a good one. However, Danny Woodhead has out-snapped Gordon in every game so far and Branden Oliver will likely take away some touches.
Odell Beckham, WR, Giants – Hamstring
It looks as though the Giants are just taking things easy with Beckham in practice.
Keenan Allen, WR, Chargers – Hip
Prior to making his return on Friday, things were not looking good for Allen after missing the first two days of practice. Now Allen looks to be on track to face the Raiders after catching 14 passes for 157 yards last week.
Jeremy Maclin, WR, Chiefs – Concussion
Maclin didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday, but was able to get on the field Friday. Assuming he's cleared to play, Maclin will be looking for only his second touchdown of the season against the vulnerable Steelers.
Stevie Johnson, WR, Chargers – Ankle
Johnson appears ready to suit up for the first time since Week 4. The Chargers slot receiver caught a touchdown in his first two games and will see a good amount of targets if Antonio Gates (knee) can't go as a game-time decision.
Tavon Austin, WR, Rams – Thigh
Austin was able to practice Friday. It will be a lot of Todd Gurley against the Browns with a limited number of touches for Austin.
Antonio Gates, TE, Chargers – Knee
A sprained MCL figures to make Gates a game-time decision against the Raiders. Stevie Johnson and Ladarius Green are interesting plays if Gates is inactive.
Jordan Reed, TE, Redskins – Concussion
Reed is cleared to return and has been in practice all week. Reed averaged 8.5 targets during the four games in which he played to start the season.
OUT
Marcus Mariota, QB, Titans – Knee
Second-year quarterback Zach Mettenberger will start against the Falcons. He played well in the preseason, displaying good pocket skills and a very strong arm.
Tyrod Taylor, QB, Bills – Knee
Michael Vick, QB, Steelers – Hamstring
Karlos Williams, RB, Bills – Concussion
Bilal Powell, RB, Jets – Ankle
Sammy Watkins, WR, Bills – Ankle
No Watkins and no Percy Harvin in London against the Jags. That means tight end Charles Clay could very well get 15 targets. Chris Hogan becomes the most playable option among the depleted group of wide receivers.
DeSean Jackson, WR, Redskins – Hamstring
Victor Cruz, WR, Giants – Calf
Percy Harvin, WR, Bills – Hip, personal reasons
Cecil Shorts, WR, Texans – Hamstring
Nelson Agholor, WR, Eagles – Ankle
Austin Seferian-Jenkins, TE, Buccaneers – Shoulder
DOUBTFUL
Chris Thompson, RB, Redskins – Back
Thompson looks unlikely to play. Thankfully, Matt Jones returns after missing last week with a toe issue. Thompson had been grabbing some attention in PPR leagues having caught six or more passes in three of the last four games.
Dez Bryant, WR, Cowboys – Foot
PROBABLE (limited practice)
Adrian Peterson, RB, Vikings – Finger
Theo Riddick, RB, Lions – Groin
Joique Bell, RB, Lions – Ankle
Brandon Marshall, WR, Jets – Calf
Allen Robinson, WR, Jaguars – Shin
Allen Hurns, WR, Jaguars – Ankle
Eric Decker, WR, Jets – Knee
Leonard Hankerson, WR, Falcons – Ribs
Rueben Randle, WR, Giants – Hamstring
Marques Colston, WR, Saints – Shoulder
PROBABLE (full practice)
Ryan Fitzpatrick, QB, Jets – Elbow
Alex Smith, QB, Chiefs – Thumb
Arian Foster, RB, Texans – Groin
Latavius Murray, RB, Raiders – Shoulder
Matt Jones, RB, Redskins – Toe
Dexter McCluster, RB, Texans – Illness
Charles Johnson, WR, Vikings – Rib
Nate Washington, WR, Texans – Hamstring
Travis Kelce, TE, Chiefs – Facial Laceration
Julius Thomas, TE, Jaguars – Chest
Gary Barnidge, TE, Browns – Ankle
Eric Ebron, TE, Lions – Knee
Cairo Santos, K, Chiefs – Foot
IR – Designated for return
Tony Romo, QB, Cowboys – Collarbone
Can return no earlier than Week 11.
David Cobb, RB, Titans – Calf
Returned to practice Wednesday. Eligible to return Week 9.
Jay Ajayi, RB, Dolphins – Ribs
Returned to practice Wednesday. Eligible to return Week 9.
Rashad Greene, WR, Jaguars – Thumb
Devin Hester, WR, Falcons – Toe
Physically unable to perform (PUP list)
Stevan Ridley, RB, Jets – Knee
Returned to practice Wednesday. Eligible to return this week. Must be activated within 21 days.
Brandon LaFell, WR, Patriots – Foot
Returned to practice Wednesday. Eligible to return this week. Must be activated within 21 days.
Kevin White, WR, Bears – Shin
Recently started running. He does not count against the 53-man roster until Week 11.
