On FanDuel scoring, sometimes we take for granted the importance of the almighty TD. Yes, targets are crucial when evaluating wide receivers. However, in the .5 PPR scoring, when an elite WR misses the end zone (like Odell Beckham the first few weeks) it can really crush a lineup. This week, there are plenty of effective wide receivers priced under $8K with great matchups and that elusive TD upside.

Here are the top 20 salaried WR’s on FanDuel ranked with RPVPD for Sunday’s Main Contest:

There may not be a more underappreciated receiver right now in fantasy than T.Y. Hilton. He’s received double digit targets in every game this year and has a TD in each of his last three games. Hilton takes on the #1 ranked pass defense this week in Houston, but as a contrarian play Hilton offers substantial return on investment. Michael Crabtree is another steady addition to any lineup. He’s even shown the TD upside in 2016 he lacked earlier in his career. As Derek Carr has matured, Crabtree has become an asset and at $7K this week he’s a bargain.

A.J. Green and Willie Snead are no doubt talented, but each has warts despite their ratio of price/production this week. Turf toe is a tricky injury and although Snead will play Sunday, he may not be anywhere near as effective as what we saw in Week 1. Green on the other hand will be the main focus of the New England defense that historically takes away the main weapon and forces opposing offenses to beat you with what’s left over. See DeAndre Hopkins 4/56 performance in that building a few weeks ago as an indicator of a potential bad omen. Dez Bryant is still not 100% and therefore should be ignored until after his upcoming bye. Julian Edelman is also far down this list, but he too has been dealing with an injury. Edelman still received the most targets last week in his offense so expect Tom Brady to help him raise that FPPG average very soon.

In a week where Antonio Brown and Julio Jones are a tad overpriced, it would be wise to turn our attention towards two wide receivers who will be at home and carry significant value in their respective buildings. The first is Brandin Cooks, who despite his even 0% RPVPD, still carries big upside in New Orleans. Drew Brees other weapons have been inconsistent and Cooks will benefit from Snead’s presence on the field alone. The other is Doug Baldwin who’s had 19.7 and 26 points in his two home games this year. In fact, Baldwin is just a hair behind Brown in RPVPD and almost $2K less in salary.

BLACK BOOK LINEUP WEEK 6

QB Alex Smith $6.8K

Smith is far from a prolific passer, but he’s playing the worst pass defense in the league and his attempts have been steadily high this season. There’s enough opportunity for him to return investment.

RB Le’Veon Bell PIT $9.3K, LeSean McCoy BUF $8.2K

Bell is back for the second week in a row and is a no brainer against the 32nd ranked run defense in the league. LeSean McCoy is facing the 31st worst run defense. With so any injuries and odd matchups, Week 6 is worth paying up for RB.

WR Doug Baldwin SEA $7.6K, Brandin Cooks $7.5K, Tyreek Hill KC $4.5K

Doug Baldwin always carries big TD upside and home off of a bye week is a good scenario. The Saints have been let down by Coby Fleener and Willie Snead isn’t 100%. Therefore, Brandin Cooks needs to be “the go to guy” Sunday. Last year, I found a little known WR named Stefon Diggs who was trending upward in targets and ended up having a nice GPP run. This week Tyreek Hill against the worst pass defense in the league has received a target increase and red zone attention. Hill need only hit 10 points to return value and I believe he can do just that.

TE Delanie Walker TEN $6.7K

Walker is getting healthier and so is his workload. He’s due for a nice day versus the Browns and has TD upside.

K Nick Novak HOU $4.5K

The Texans should be able to move the ball on the Colts but they have struggled converting touchdowns.

D/ST Bills $4.8K

The 49ers are playing a QB for the first time this season in Colin Kaepernick and traveling across the country. A good combination for Buffalo.
