DraftEasy’s Over/Under contests have always been a ton of fun, but now they have a redesigned site that is just as exciting as their contests. Not only does it look great, but it is super easy to navigate. Simply choose an MLB game, and you can immediately begin picking over/unders. The tabs at the top list all of the different game types, where you can choose from anywhere from two to five over/unders. Each game type offers a different payout, anywhere from 2X to 5X. This week, we will pick two different MLB games, Phillies at Nationals and Padres at Giants.
Phillies at Nationals, PICK 3/3
Tanner Roark 2.5 ER: UNDER
Roark allowed three earned runs against the Phillies on May 5, and he has allowed more than 2.5 runs in four of his six starts since then. That being said, his last two starts were at the Blue Jays and at the Yankees, and he should have an easier time facing a pitcher as opposed to a DH. The Phillies rank 21st in runs scored this season.
Zach Eflin 4.5 HA: UNDER
Eflin has gone under in five of his eight starts this season including each of his last two. He has allowed a .295 BABIP this season, so I wouldn’t attribute his lack of hits allowed to luck. The Nationals rank 20th in batting average at .238 this season, which isn’t nearly good enough to make me reconsider the under.
Adam Eaton 0.5 H: OVER
My default setting is to always go over with Eaton whenever he is healthy. He has at least one hit in seven of his last nine games, so that seems safe. Zach Eflin has been great in each of his last two games, but he has allowed a .276 batting average against in his career.
Padres at Giants, PICK 3/4
Chris Stratton 2.5 ER: OVER
Stratton has allowed fewer than three earned runs in just two of his last 10 starts, but both of those starts came in June. He is in a favorable home ballpark, and only the Orioles have scored fewer runs than the Padres this season. The Padres also rank 27th in home runs this season. Stratton hasn’t allowed a home run in four consecutive starts, and he still went over 2.5 ER in two of those. I can’t go under.
Clayton Richard 3.5 K: OVER
I don’t understand this line. Clayton Richard has at least four strikeouts in 10 of his last 11 starts. He went under 3.5 K in two of his first four starts this season, including one against the Giants, but that doesn’t seem particularly relevant.
Buster Posey 0.5 H: OVER
Posey is on a three-game hitting streak, and he is 12-for-32 in his career against Clayton Richard . Posey is batting .357 at home this season and .307 against lefties.
Christian Villanueva 1.5 TB: UNDER
Christian Villaneuva is 1-for-4 with a double against Chris Stratton , and if he can simply repeat that stat line, he will go over. That being said, Villanueva has just seven total bases over the last two weeks. He is just 2-for-19 since June 12.
