Were you one of those people who liked report card day back in school? I wasn’t but not for reasons that you might think. Being the youngest of five my parents really didn’t care what kind of grades I got because at that point they had seen it all. Even at a young age I had a thirst to learn and to know. I would pay attention to the things that I wanted to learn about and drift off when the class was talking something I didn’t care about. This happens in fantasy sports all of the time except now I am the teacher, which sucks a lot more than I thought it did by the way.

So each week I will be going over all of my rankings, projections, lineup advice and strong opinions and letting the record speak for itself. Obviously this is a risky proposition considering if I am wrong too much it could be a severe hit to my career. But I have confidence because fantasy football is something that I love and have a desire to learn about every single day. So despite the risk, I accept this challenge.

Here is the second edition of Right, Wrong or Indifferent taking a look back at NFL Week 6:

RIGHT

, QB, Cardinals

All week long I told you guys that Palmer was going to play and would be able to move the offense a lot better than Drew Stanton or Logan Thomas. In addition to Palmer, I was recommending both Michael Floyd and Larry Fitzgerald this week. Although Palmer didn’t go bananas in his first game back, his 250 yards and 2 TD’s were a very good effort all things considered.

LeSean McCoy, RB, Eagles

It’s that time of year where we have to stop pretending and just get real. The fact of the matter is with the current RB landscape, teams don’t have the luxury of benching LeSean McCoy. So many were coming to me with terrible ideas of starting Lorenzo Taliaferro and James Hill over McCoy this week which was deeply upsetting. McCoy carried the ball 22 times for 149 yards on Sunday night against the Giants and hopefully ended all of the “you must bench him” uproar.

Jerick McKinnon, RB, Vikings

The very day that Adrian Peterson’s child abuse story broke I said that Jerick McKinnon was the player to target long term in the Minnesota backfield. I have said for weeks that McKinnon would be the Vikings lead RB by week eight which means I was just a couple of weeks early. I hope all of the Matt Asiata people enjoyed their ride.

, WR, Colts

I take pride in this because I am not a T.Y. Hilton fan whatsoever. But this week I recognized that Hilton regularly tears up the Texans and that he matches up quite well against Jonathan Joseph. Hilton was a prominent player in the Monday-Thursday DFS Playbook, the Thursday edition of the week six DFS Playbook and my #13 overall WR this week.

Torrey Smith, WR, Ravens

Just call me the “Torrey Smith whisperer” because that is exactly what I felt like this weekend. Just like Hilton, I am not nor have I ever been a Torrey Smith fan. But this week against the terrible Buccaneers secondary I figured that Smith would finally be able to break through. He was the perfect play in weekly fantasy football this week as well. I hope that you all took that advice!

Matt Prater, K, Lions

I add this in here just because all of the hoopla surrounding the Lions signing Matt Prater was stupid. Prater was aided as every single solitary kicker that ever plays in Denver by the thin air and a highly potent offense. Sure, he should be more accurate than either Nate Freese or Alex Henerey but so should any other kicker on the planet. Prater is fine but I am happy that he missed two of his three field goal attempts this week.

WRONG

, QB, Giants

Eli Manning can burn in hell for what he did to fantasy owners this week. I have been over this and over this since the Sunday Night Game ended and it still makes no sense to me. The Giants and more specifically, Eli Manning simply played terrible. I leaned on Eli pretty hard this week and the goose egg he laid won’t soon be forgotten.

Tom Brady, QB, Patriots/Patriots Offense

I fully expected a Patriots dud here in Buffalo this week. But Tom Brady and company despite a slow start, tore the Bills defense apart in the second half. I had Brady buried in the rankings this past week but am going to have to reevaluate that after his 361 yards and 4 TD performance on Sunday.

Bishop Sankey, RB, Titans

This one really hurts. After we learned that Shonn Greene would miss week six, I figured this was the week that Bishop Sankey would finally breakout. Although 18 carries for 61 yards is hardly a terribly outing, it was a real letdown considering the opponent. After this performance I really don’t see why fantasy owners would bother keeping him on their roster. If you can’t get enough carries or be productive enough against the Jacksonville Jaguars, then there isn’t a matchup worth his services.

Broncos RB’s

I recommended staying away from the Broncos RB’s this week because of the uncertainty around the situation. I did not think Ronnie Hillman would be given a lion’s share of the carries due to his size and lack of pass blocking ability. I still think that he will be limited for these reasons but in week six Hillman really came through. Also, I had figured that there would be a three headed monster splitting carries for the Broncos but C.J. Anderson never factored in whatsoever.

, WR, Broncos

Sanders was my horse of choice of all the Broncos WR’s in a choice matchup against the Jets this week. Although I did have Demaryius Thomas ranked higher, I pushed Sanders as the better DFS play this week. The Broncos pass catchers seem to rotate who has the big game every week and thus I figured Sanders was due for a couple TD’s considering he didn’t have one yet this season.

Mohamed Sanu, WR, Bengals

What pisses me off the most here is that I really like and have always liked Mahamed Sanu. But this past week I did not like the matchup against the tough Panthers defensive backs. What is more was that without A.J. Green drawing the double coverage opposite him, I figured Sanu for a disappointing outing. Although he really was quiet for the first three quarters, Sanu caught fire in the fourth quarter and overtime to finish with 10-120-1. Oh, and he had a 35 yard TD catch and run called back for holding too.

INDIFFERENT

, QB, Panthers

I say all of the time that Cam Newton is 18 oz of talent in a 12 oz glass. No matter what, that talent is going to spill over eventually and it did on Sunday, I have been in Newton’s corner all season despite his struggles but did have him ranked outside of my top 12 of fantasy QB’s this week. Thus, his terrific performance against the Bengals was both a blessing and curse for me this week.

Storm Johnson, RB, Jaguars

I have never wavered from my belief that Storm Johnson would eventually be the feature RB of the Jaguars this season. Toby Gerhart was never going to be the answer and the difference is immense. So, naturally I was recommending people acquire Storm Johnson all the way back in week three. I knew that he would get the majority of carries this week with Gerhart out but it didn’t necessarily work out the way that I had hoped. Johnson converted on a goal line carry early on but 10-21 is hardly what I would call a success.

Branden Oliver, RB, Chargers

I was loving Oliver in PPR formats this week but said over and over again that I thought Ronnie Brown would cut way into Oliver’s carries. That didn’t happen at all and Oliver instead had himself a great game on the ground going 26-101-1.

, WR, Raiders

Another player that I have been high on all season despite a slow start but a head coaching change had me worried about what the WR rotation was going to be for the Raiders. As it turns out Holmes had the most snaps of all Raiders WR’s and seemed to have a great chemistry with Derek Carr.

Jordan Reed, TE, Redskins

This is the opposite of the usual players that I liked that had let downs this week. Rather, I have been staunchly against Jordan Reed this season because of his frequent injuries. But knowing that he was coming back to play the Cardinals who allow a lot of point to fantasy TE’s was a great play this week.
