MLB DFS Playbook: May 29

Arenado doesn’t seem to miss Coors Field much as he is hitting .290 with 11 home runs, 35 RBI, and an MLB-leading 17 doubles. Over the last 14 games he is hitting .333 with five home runs, 12 RBI, and five doubles. He is slashing .315/.342/.593 on the road this season, compared to .261/.330/.500 at home.

O’Neill homered last night for the second straight game and he now has five in the last eight games. The nice stretch brings his average on the year up to .257 and his home run total is now at 10. He is slashing .258/.295/.584 against righties with nine of his 10 home runs this season.

Lewis may not be a lefty, but he is hot right now, hitting .333 (7-21) with two home runs, a steal, and four RBI over his last six games. He has reverse splits this season, slashing .250/.359/.409 against righties, compared to .233/.281/.367 against lefties.

Kelenic swiped his second base yesterday and now has a pair of steals and a pair of home runs in 15 games despite hitting just .138. He does have the advantage of the strong matchup tonight though as lefties have killed Folty this season (as mentioned in Crawford’s section).

Garcia has been fantastic, hitting .281 with an MLB-leading 16 home runs to go along with 41 RBI and five stolen bases. He is slashing .286/.346/.612 against righties this season, so while I like Dunn today, Garcia is still firmly in play.

Marte extended his hitting streak to four games last night and he is hitting .345 on the year. As mentioned yesterday, Marte loves playing at his home ballpark (Chase Field) as he has a career .308/.369/.505 slash line there.

Haniger is having a great season, hitting .262 with 13 long balls, 13 doubles, and 34 RBI. He has done the majority of his damage against righties, hitting .272 against them with nine home runs, compared to .227 with four home runs against lefties.

Soto’s season can be summed up as “meh” to this point as he is hitting .286 with four home runs and one steal. He is a better player than this though. That being said, my interest in him today is strictly within a Nats stack.

Betts is struggling this season, hitting just .240 with five home runs and five steals, but he has a long track record of success against righties and Webb has a 4.09 ERA this season and 4.96 ERA for his career, so not exactly a dominant pitcher by any means.

Crawford is a low-end play, but he is cheap and has a good matchup. Lefties are slashing .333/.400/.631 against Folty this season, compared to .237/.275/.420 for righties. Crawford is 2-7 (.286) with a home run against Folty in a small sample size.

Adames had a monster game his last time out, going 4-5 with a home run, a double, and four RBI to rack up 31 points on DK. He was awful his whole career at Tropicana Field, so this move to the Brewers should just continue to pay off for him and he should continue to produce (hitting .350 since joining the team).

Turner is having a great year, hitting .316 with 10 home runs and 10 stolen bases. He has destroyed southpaws this season, slashing a ridiculous .410/.455/.718 against them, compared to (an also strong) .291/.329/.473 against righties.

Riley is hitting .313 with 10 home runs on the year. He has scored double-digit fantasy points in eight of his last 10 games. In that span, he is hitting .429 (15-35) with SEVEN home runs and 12 RBI. He is slashing a robust .317/.425/.533 against righties this season.

Villar is the Mets best offensive player right now. He is hitting .250 with two home runs, two steals, and five runs scored over the last nine games. He is slashing .241/.357/.410 against righties, compared to .206/.206/.324 against lefties and he is hitting .261 at home, compared to .211 on the road.

Urias has been great this season, racking up a 7-1 record with a 3.03 ERA, 2.81 FIP, 0.82 WHIP, and striking out 70 batters across 62.1 innings of work. He has scored at least 28 points on DK in three straight outings. The Giants have the seventh highest strikeout rate this season at 26.2-percent and that number jumps to 27.1-percent over the last 14 days, which, is the fourth highest in that span. He faced the Giants in his last start and held them to two runs over six innings of work while picking up the win and striking out 10.

France is currently on a five-game hitting streak, hitting .389 (7-18) in that span. He hasn’t been getting a whole in the counting stats department, but at a cheap price against a bad pitcher in Folty there is some value here.

Harrison is hitting .301 with four home runs, two steals, and 18 RBI. He has three double-digit point DFS games over the last four games. He is slashing a robust .364/.417/.636 against lefties this season, compared to .288/.368/.405 against righties.

Edman is having a nice season, hitting .274 with four home runs, 10 steals, and 26 runs scored while hitting leadoff for the red birds. He is hot right now, hitting .310 (13-42) with two home runs, three steals, and nine RBI over the last 10 games.

Smith is hot right now, scoring 16, 6, 11, 16, and 17 points on DK over the last five games. He currently has an eight-game hitting streak and a four-game multi-hit streak. He is slashing .300/.347/.464 against righties, compared to .205/.265/.364 against lefties and he is slashing .329/.373/.500 at home, compared to .241/.293/.398 on the road.

Lowe has cooled off a bit from his rampant start, but he still has a decent .255 average to go along with eight home runs, four steals, and 30 RBI. He has been much better on the road this season, slashing .277/.383/.465, compared to .232/.324/.358 at home.

Goldy stayed hot last night without even getting a hit as he had a walk, a steal, an RBI, and a run scored. Over his last nine games he is hitting .294 with four doubles and six RBI. All six of his home runs this season are off a righty and he is slashing .280/.354/.400 on the road, compared to .221/.260/.400 at home.

Pina will likely draw the start for the Brew Crew tonight with the team facing a lefty. He is hitting .235 against lefties (compared to .179 against righties) and has managed to swat three dingers against them in just 17 at-bats, compared to just one home run in 28 at-bats against righties.

Kelly has cooled off from a hot start, but this is a small slate and there are only so many options. He is hitting .298 this season with six home runs and 20 RBI. Wainwright has been shelled on the road this season with an 8.56 ERA, compared to a 2.41 ERA at home.

Smith has been great in May, hitting .314 (22-70) with two home runs, 10 RBI, and 14 runs scored across 20 games. He once again has massive reverse splits this season, slashing .329/.447/.573 against righties, compared to .180/.250/.300 against lefties.

Dunn has quietly been very good for Seattle this season, pitching to a 3.40 ERA while striking out 37 across 39.2 innings of work. The Rangers have the eighth highest strikeout rate this season at 25.8-percent and that number jumps to 26.4-percent against righties, which is third highest in the league. They are hitting .215 over the last 14 days, which is 26th in the league in that span. He makes for a great SP2 option on DK.

Walker has been incredible thus far with the Mets, pitching to a 2.05 ERA, 2.84 FIP, 0.98 WHIP, with 41 strikeouts across 44 innings of work. The Braves have been great at home, averaging 5.30 runs per game when at home, but that number drops to 4.45 runs per game when on the road. He faced Atlanta in his last start and it was cut short with an injury, but he fired three shutout innings with two strikeouts and just one hit against prior to exiting. (Check the weather).

Anderson has pitched very well this season with a 4-1 record and 2.82 ERA to go along with 53 punch-outs across 51 innings of work. He has scored at least 16 points on DK in three straight outings. The Mets are hitting just .224 this season (27th in baseball) and averaging just 3.36 runs per game, which is 29th in the league. They are also striking out 27.0-percent of the time over the last 14 days, which is the sixth highest in that span and hitting .192 in that span which is dead last in the league. (Check the weather).
