Fantasy Football Pregaming: Vicks New Address, Longer PAT Attempts & More
Brining you the latest in news, hilarity and commentary about the NFL and fantasy sports.
Breaking Vikings QB News
It isn’t often that a late night off the cuff tweet of an NFL player makes much sense but when it is a two time NFL rushing champ people take notice. Vikings RB Adrian Peterson tweeted that “@MikeVick would intently make the Vikings a playoff team!” An obvious show of support of the Free Agent QB from the leagues best RB is highly notable and honestly makes a lot of sense. With an aging defense and offensive line the Vikings don’t necessarily have the time or the coaching staff to develop a young QB and thus Vick would be a good solution.
Speaking of shitty former/current/future Vikings QB’s, ProFootballTalk confirms that there is mutual admiration between the Houston Texans and free agent QB Matt Cassel. This proves that Bill O’Brien won’t have to wait until the NFL Draft this May to begin making bad personnel decisions.
Today’s Somewhat Useless Metric
I am not a big fan of the “yards per route run” (YPRR) metric mostly because it is just a fancy way of stating who the receiving yards leaders are in a given year but you can use this to determine those wideouts who were least useful last year. According to ProFootballFocus the following WR’s “led” the league in least amount of YPRR in 2013.
Rank | Name | Team | Targets | YPRR |
---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Browns | 88 | 0.70 | |
2 | Cowboys | 46 | 0.75 | |
3 | Bills | 55 | 0.77 | |
4 | Colts | 58 | 0.81 | |
5 | Davone Bess | Browns | 83 | 0.84 |
6 | Lions | 82 | 0.86 | |
7 | Chargers | 65 | 0.91 | |
8 | Eagles | 71 | 0.97 | |
9 | Bengals | 73 | 0.98 | |
10 | Redskins | 77 | 0.99 |
Dwight Howard Traded For Matt Forte?
Matt Forte who is from Louisiana, went to school at Tulane University and plays for the Chicago Bears just bought a home in…Windermere, Florida? Evidently Forte purchased the former residence of current Houston Rockets Center Dwight Howard for a cool $2.25 million.
Maybe A Little TOO FAR?
The NFL is said to be seriously considering either eliminating or moving point after tries (PATs) back to 43 yards as a result of the 99.6% accuracy rate they had in 2013. Could this be the future of PAT’s in the NFL?
Fantasy Outlook On The PAT Dilemma
As a fantasy football player and a fan of the game of football I am in favor of whatever the league can do to make the game more exciting and strategic. That being said, from a fantasy point of view we really need to come up with a solution in case the NFL does decide to make PAT’s 43 yards. Would we still only award a single point? If we award more points would we diminish the value of regular field goals? If they PAT is eliminated do we continue using kickers in fantasy football? These are legitimate questions that need to be addressed at some point BEFORE the NFL drops the hammer and sends us all reeling for a solution.

If you thought your morning workout was tough, you’ve got nothing on Ice-T’s game Coco Austin’s extreme regimen. Keep an eye on the guy next to her and respect the fact that he never breaks stride as Coco basically gets herself in lovemaking shape directly in front of him.
Loose Stool
The Bears and kick returner Devin Hester apparently are parting ways this offseason. Wonder if they will kick it to him if they happen to meet up next season?
Do the Jets know how to evaluate wide receivers? They are apparently set to make Emmanuel Sanders their top receiving target this offseason.
Saints defensive coordinator Rob Ryan has a legion of fans portraying his likeness in this hilarious Mardi Gras Parade video.
This piece in the Denver Post should help ease the mind of dynasty leaguers who bought high on Montee Ball last summer. Ball is set to be the RB1 for the Broncos in 2014.
