Lots of new faces on the pitching docket today but still plenty of old standy-bys and ol’ reliables as well. We’ve got a full slate starting at 7pm ET so plenty of time to get those lineups in. Here’s how today’s pitching slate looks to me:

Noah Syndergaard, NYM – The overall numbers against the Nationals are about average (4.15 ERA over 21.2 innings), but he faced them two starts ago and allowed just two runs over seven innings. The strikeouts have been down for Syndergaard, but he’s still more than capable of dominating any lineup.

Danny Duffy, KC – The A’s struggle against southpaws and have posted just a .296 wOBA with only a .686 OPS against them this season. Their strikeout rate is below 20-percent so while you can probably expect a solid outing, the strikeouts probably won’t be exactly what you wanted.

Drew Pomeranz, BOS – The Orioles continue to struggle against lefties and just like Price dominated them yesterday, Pomeranz is likely to do the same. The Orioles have a .294 wOBA against southpaws on the year and that comes with a 21.8-percent strikeout rate.

Jason Hammel, CHC – Hammel has had three lousy starts in his last four outings, but shouldn’t be dismissed because of a little stumbling block here. He’s got a 2.84 ERA with a 1.00 WHIP over 19 innings against the Cardinals this season and should be able to hold them in check once again.

Julio Urias, LAD – Truth be told, I like Sabathia more in this contest as you’ll see below, but Urias is still capable of posting a strong effort against the Yankees who have just a .303 wOBA against southpaws this season. He’s not a bad mid-priced option as a second starter on DK or Aces.

Ivan Nova, PIT – The Phillies continue to struggle with their .292 wOBA against right-handed pitching all season, but even more so now as they’ve posted just a .297 wOBA over the last seven days with a ridiculous 28.9-percent strikeout rate.

CC Sabathia, NYY – As I said above, I like Sabathia more than Urias in this match-up and that’s largely due to the Dodgers ranking dead-last with their .279 wOBA against lefties which comes with a 22.3-percent strikeout rate. The fact that they have also thrown down a .288 wOBA with a 26.5-percent strikeout rate over the last week certainly helps.

Taijuan Walker, SEA – The Angels are slumping hard right now so take advantage while you can. As a team, they’ve posted a .240 wOBA over the last seven days and that comes with a .119 ISO and 21.8-percent K-rate.

Matt Boyd, DET – The Twins’ numbers against lefties has dropped lately and with that, they’ve posted a lousy .289 wOBA with a 26-percent strikeout rate over the last week.  Boyd has posted two quality starts against the Twins this year and owns a .2.25 ERA and 0.83 WHIP over 12 innings against them.

Albert Suarez, SF – How about a little dart action here? It’s time to pick on the Padres again. Do I really need to keep quoting how crappy their numbers are, both recently and against right-handed pitching?
