We’ve got a real short slate today which obviously means we’re not loaded up on as many options today as we would like. However, we’ve got a good mix of pitchers over the various pricing tiers so we should be able to enjoy plenty of cash games as well as our usual GPP fun. One real early game today, so check those lineups and games! Here’s a look at today’s data and some recommendations:

Jon Lester, CHC – He’s the top pitcher on the board and I’m ecstatic over the fact that he is not pitching in the early game which makes me a lot more comfortable using him as my top cash game pitcher. The Padres are crazy inconsistent with the bats and not only have they struggled against lefties since the trade deadline, but over the last seven days they’ve posted a .295 wOBA with an awful 26.6-percent K-rate.

Carlos Carrasco, CLE – The A’s are striking out an uncharacteristic 24.7-percent of the time over the last week which bodes well for Carrasco numbers today. Oakland ranks 26th in the league with a .304 wOBA against righties, the power is barely average and if you look even deeper, there’s very little hard contact off their bats lately.

Scott Kazmir, LAD – He’s pitching the early game which really makes me lean away from him, but based on the numbers, those of you who like to risk it in the all-day slate, well, he certainly can be an option here. The Reds have a 25th-ranked .303 wOBA against southpaws this year and that comes with a 22.7-percent strikeout rate. He’s just got to keep some of those low-level righty bats in line.

Doug Fister, HOU – He’s taken a bit of a beating his last two outings, but for a cheap GPP today, I’ll throw a dart at Fister against these Pirates. Pittsburgh is posting just a .298 wOBA over the past week with a 21.4-percent strikeout rate. Even better is the fact that the Pirates are hitting with minimal power right now as evidenced by the .117 ISO over that span.

Zack Godley, ARI – So here’s one more dart to play around with which will allow you to get more big bats into your GPP lineup. Yes, we’re still going to try and pick on the Braves who have a .295 wOBA with just a .129 ISO and 20-percent strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this year. Plus, over the last seven days, that strikeout rate has jumped to 21.7-percent while the wOBA sits just barely at .300.
