Last night’s slate provided plenty of offense with the Yankees, Cardinals, and Nationals all scoring double digit runs.  All three teams are in a similar position tonight, but it is the Twins that surprisingly check in on having the second highest team run total of the night slate, and the Jays a close third.  You can also throw in a few more teams that have juicy matchups, giving us the potential for one of those crazy high scoring GPP nights.  While I can’t list them all, below are my top targets for each position tonight.  Good luck!

Catcher

There are a few routes I’m considering to go at catcher tonight. Yadier Molina’s price is cheap, and the Cards have the highest run total of the night. Brian McCann disappointed many last night, but should have multiple opportunities to redeem himself tonight.  and his price point is still a bit too low as wellJonathan Lucroy and Wilson Ramos are the same price on FD and Aces, but Ramos is 1K cheaper on DK and on a 7 game hit streak.  Lucroy is 4-6 vs Colon, and makes for a nice low owned mini stack with Braun.

First Base

Tonight may be the battle of the old man 1B options.  Joe Mauer, Albert Pujos, and Ryan Zimmerman are all in plus matchups tonight. I wouldn’t be surprised if all three homer tonight, but Mauer will be my cash target with Pujos more for GPP.  Chris Parmelee made the most of his season debut last night with 2 HR’s, and is still minimum price.  I doubt he repeats last night, but doesn’t need much to reach value.  In the same situation is James Loney.  He has hit safely in 6 of the 7 games he has played so far this season.

Second Base

Brian Dozier has been back to his consistent self with 3 multi-hit games over his last 4 which makes him a great cash game target. For GPP’s second base looks to be my late night hammer play.  Both Robinson Cano and Jason Kipnis are in nice spots.  Cano is 4-15 off Tomlin with a homer, and although Kipnis and the Indians have struggled lately, the opposing pitcher Karns has been off as well.   Starlin Castro has homered in 2 of his last 3 games, and his price has only been slightly increased on FD over the last week.

Third Base

FD seems to be a little confused with the Cards, and have Jhonny Peralta as a minimum priced 3B.  It will be hard to not see him at 80% percent owned for cash games if starting.  Matt Carpenter was a great play last night vs the righty Simon, but he also makes for a great play tonight vs the lefty Finnegan.  He is 3-7 lifetime vs him with 2 of the hits going for homers.  Please note that Carpenter is now listed as a 2B on FD, and makes for a great play there as well. Pairing Cano with Kyle Seager will make for a low owned combo in GPP’s.  Tomlin has pitched well, but Seager is 5-9 vs him.  The bargain play of the night at third looks to be Trevor PlouffeYes, he blasted off yesterday, but Vegas thinks the Twins will do the same tonight, and Plouffe has hit safely in 6 of the last 7 games.

Shortstop

If Peralta is being used as a 3B, Aledmys Diaz makes for a nice SS play on DK. The problem is you have Eduardo Nunez at a similar price on Aces and FD.  I’m high on the Twins tonight and having a top of the order stack of the Twins will be lower owned than the Cards in my opinion.  Stephen Drew is your minimum price punt play.  After going deep last night, he may get another start vs the righty Gonzalez, and if so, could be in for a nice 1-4 with a HR and 3 K’s to reach value.

Outfield

Outfield is stacked tonight, and can’t really decide which option is the best route to take ownership level wise.  Looking at upper priced players, Mike Trout, Stephen Piscotty, and Ryan Braun are my top targets.  Trout is a nice cash game play with a .429 average vs Nova, and went deep last night.  Piscotty should bat right in the heart of the highest projected scoring team tonight, and has also scored a run in four straight games. Braun paired with Lucroy is my sneaky mini stack of the night.  I doubt the Brewers will be targeted tonight, and Braun is 3-6 with a homer of Colon.  I think he finally gets his first HR in June tonight.  While there are a few players who were formally top priced guys that are currently in a funk, Bryce Harper would be my preferred pick over Giancarlo Stanton who was 1 for his last 19 before recording 2 hits last night.  It still amazes me that Robbie Grossman is minimum price on DK and Aces.  He has gone deep in 2 of his last 3 games, and you know I like the Twins tonight.
