We welcome July with a 13-game slate tonight, and we welcome the Rockies to Chavez Ravine, which means no Coors Field for a little while!
But unfortunately, we also welcome a few weather issues that you’ll need to consider tonight. Cubs/Mets at Citi and Angels/Red Sox at Fenway are both forecasted to have thunderstorms at some point in the night. As always, you’re going to have to keep an eye on those two situations as we get closer to roster lock in order to get the most accurate weather forecast.
Keep in mind, players in the tables are organized from highest to lowest salary at each position using FanDuel pricing.

Evan Gattis has a 5-game hitting streak where he has gone 7-for-19 (.368 AVG) with a homer and four RBIs. Would be awesome if his manager didn’t excite him to batting 8th every night against righties, but nothing we can do able that. Besides Gattis, you can also consider Brian McCann, but I don’t find it to be too important to pay up at the catcher’s spot tonight.
Josh Phegley is a lefty masher who gets a good matchup against Jeff Locke tonight. Don’t hold last night’s outing against MadBum against him, he’s a solid value and a safe play tonight.
Derek Norris generally gets a stronger look when he matches up against a lefty, but I like the way he matches up against Nathan Eovaldi, and he is a pretty reasonable price on FanDuel. I would probably view him more as a GPP play tonight though.
James McCann is a limited BvP special tonight. He is 4-for-5 (.800 AVG) with two homers, lifetime, against Drew Smyly of the Rays.
Tyler Flowers broke the Wei-Yin Chen curse last night, having a great game against someone who he had previously gone 0-for-5 with five strikeouts against. He’ll get an incredible matchup tonight against Justin Nicolino, who is allowing righties to hit .343/.385/.483 against him this season.

David Ortiz gets one of the last spots at first base tonight over Brandon Belt, but I honestly can’t blame you if you go Belt tonight anyway. On top of that, Kendrys Morales super hot and is still a great value on DraftKings. Still, the biggest reason why Big Papi is here is obviously going to be the fact that he has a .546 wOBA against righties at Fenway Park this season. That is just outrageous.
Brandon Moss probably has an edge over Matt Adams for me tonight, but both players have a great matchup and great BvP numbers against Matt Garza. It’s just that Moss is the one swinging the hotter bat, and
Anthony Rizzo is a pretty reasonable price on FanDuel thanks to a matchup with Jacob deGrom. He is working on an 11-game hitting streak, where he has gone 17-for-40 (.425 AVG) with four homers, five doubles, and nine RBIs. He has been fine against deGrom in limited action, going 3-for-9 (.333 AVG) with a home run.
James Loney is a very boring play, but he is always affordable, and has been producing consistently. On top of that, he has three homers in 41 at-bats against Jason Hammel, which is pretty good because he isn’t exactly much of a home run hitter.
Prince Fielder should be over $3000 and possibly even more on FanDuel, but nah, they have him at $2700. All he has done against Ervin Santana is bat .389/.476/.944 with three homers in 21 career plate appearances.

Robinson Cano is 5-for-9 (.556 AVG) with a triple and two RBIs, lifetime, against Kevin Gausman of the O’s.
Ian Kinsler loves to face lefties. He is batting .360/.398/.570 with three homers in 86 at-bats this season against southpaws.
Logan Forsythe is an outstanding value on DraftKings at just $3300 and actually matches up very well against Michael Fulmer. Besides that, he has a 6-game hitting streak, where he has gone 12-for-26 (.462 AVG) with a homer, four doubles, five runs, and four RBIs.
Brian Dozier should probably be around $4000 right now the way he’s playing, but he’s inexplicably only $3100 tonight against a lefty in Martin Perez. His hit streak has now reached 12 games and he has five homers in his last five games.
Brett Lawrie has four home runs over his last eight games, and has gone 14-for-33 (.424 AVG) throughout those eight games. He has also batted .500/.556/.875 over nine career plate appearances against Mike Fiers.

Danny Valencia is batting .392/.446/.745 with five homers in 51 at-bats against lefties this season.
Kris Bryant may be facing Jacob deGrom, but he homered off of deGrom in their previous meeting, and he is a great fastball/slider hitter, which are pitches that deGrom throws roughly 70 percent of the time.
Manny Machado’s last ten games have given us a player who has gone 23-for-44 (.523 AVG) with a homer, four doubles, 10 runs, and nine RBIs.
Evan Longoria is more of a DraftKings play tonight thanks to the value he’s at with the matchup against Michael Fulmer. Longo has a 5-game hitting streak, where he has gone 10-for-21 (.476 AVG) with four doubles and four runs.
Kelly Johnson would be my favorite FanDuel punt at 3B tonight if he gets the start. He is 9-for-30 (.300 AVG) with a couple home runs throughout his career against Jason Hammel.

Carlos Correa is an extra-base hit machine right now. He has a combined 10 extra base hits over his last nine games, which has helped him reach 16 RBIs over those nine games.
Eduardo Nunez is very expensive tonight, but I love everything about his matchup against Martin Perez, who he has never faced in his career. Given his price, you’re probably going to have to settle for GPPs with him. But he certainly looks legit right now and he’s swinging as hot of a bat as he has all season long.
Brandon Crawford tends to be pretty streaky, and he happens to be on quite a run right now, going 9-for-17 (.529 AVG) with a homer, triple, double, and 10 RBIs over his last four games.
Xander Bogaerts has dropped to just $3300 on FanDuel. Yeah, I guess it’s because he isn’t getting three hits every night anymore. Still, he has reached base safely in 12 consecutive games and gets a great matchup against Jhoulys Chacin of the Angels.
Tim Anderson will be the last shortstop I would consider happily rostering at shortstop tonight. His price has risen a bit, but is still a bargain at $3000, which is amazing for someone with a 7-game hitting streak, going 13-for-33 (.393 AVG) with two homers, two doubles, seven runs, four RBIs, and a stolen base.

Mike Trout is a pretty good knuckleball hitter. PITCHf/x actually pegs the knuckleball as his favorite pitch to hit against since his first MLB at-bat back in 2011.
George Springer happens to be priced like he’s Barry Bonds, but I guess that’s okay on a night where he faces Miguel Gonzalez, who he has gone 4-for-9 (.444 AVG) with two homers against throughout his career.
Shin-Soo Choo is pretty expensive tonight compared to where he’s normally at, but he has been outstanding and has a good matchup against Ervin Santana. Over his last eight games, Choo has gone 12-for-34 (.352 AVG) with three homers, two doubles, nine runs, and five RBIs.
Mark Trumbo was a major disappointment last night, but you shouldn’t take it too personally, because he has a better matchup tonight against Wade LeBlanc. Yes, he’s a little pricier, but the PITCHf/x is favorable and Trumbo is historically a better hitter against lefties.
Marcell Ozuna has had a great career against Julio Teheran, going 11-for-30 (.367 AVG) with a homer against Teheran throughout his career.
Christian Yelich has reached base safely at least two times in each of his last five games. He matches up very well against Julio Teheran, and is actually a pretty decent price throughout the industry.
Leonys Martin obviously doesn’t get the credit that he deserves, because he is only $3300 on DraftKings tonight. When you consider he is batting .307/.365/.482 with six homers and three stolen bases over his last 30 games, I really don’t get it.
Cameron Maybin, for some reason, is always quite underowned. Yes, maybe it’s the reputation that he has developed over the years, but you can’t deny what he has done in a Tigers uniform. He has a 6-game hitting streak, where he has gone 11-for-24 (.458 AVG) with three doubles and seven RBIs. He is also 3-for-3 with a homer against Drew Smyly in their previous meetings.
Matt Kemp matches up quite well against Nathan Eovaldi and is only $3000 tonight on FanDuel.
Alex Gordon is 8-for-16 (.500 AVG), lifetime, against Jeremy Hellickson of the Phillies. Hard to say where he’ll hit tonight, but he’ll more than likely be hitting leadoff or from the 2-hole, in a very favorable matchup.
Seth Smith is a nice value tonight throughout the industry. He is coming off of a game where he homered off of Chris Tillman and gets Kevin Gausman who throws pure heat.
Justin Upton’s mainly in play tonight because he is a mere $2700 on FanDuel and $2900 on DraftKings tonight in a matchup against Drew Smyly who is giving up a career 1.91 HR/9 this season.
Jake Smolinski is a specialist against lefties so he’ll undoubtedly get the start tonight. But what I like about him is the PITCHf/x compared to Jeff Locke. Locke’s repertoire stands out because he exclusively throws the two-seamer and a slider. Smolinski’s two best pitches to hit against? The two-seam fastball and the slider.
Mitch Moreland will likely be in the lineup tonight, and he’d be a pretty good value on FanDuel, especially going up against Ervin Santana. Moreland has batted .320/.414/.600 with two home runs against Santana throughout his career.
Brandon Nimmo may get another shot to bat leadoff tonight considering it seemed to be more successful than option D, which is Alejandro De Aza. He is the bare minimum on both DraftKings and FanDuel, so it may be worth going with him if you need the salary relief.
