What started out as a simple tool to provide people with basic and advanced daily fantasy sports knowledge, has officially become a phenomenon. The DFS Playbook has spawned not one but two copycats from highly regarded DFS companies. I am not sure whether to be flattered or insulted. What I will say is that you can't have a Playbook without actual plays. The one difference between us and everybody else is that we are not afraid to open the vault and show the world our work. Here is who we are playing and this is why we are playing them. So until someone gets the courage to actually be honest about their lineups each and every day or week, our system will be forever safe.
For those of you who are new to daily fantasy sports I say WELCOME!! DFS is such a fun way to enjoy the games that you already love and now can win big prizes for doing well. Those of you who purchased the Fantasy Alarm Assistant G.M., you will be receiving special Playbook updates throughout the week. For the rest of you we will be posting Playbooks on Thursday and Saturday throughout the NFL season. Remember, you can get it for FREE when you open a new account on DraftKings.
In the coming weeks we will be adding lineup optimization, full pricing pages, special contests and more to our DFS content. But for now, how about we all go out and kick some ass in Week 1? Sounds good to me.
I bring to you the first installment of the DFS NFL Playbook for Week 1:
Quarterbacks
It really doesn't make sense to pay up for Payton Manning this week. I don't like paying last years prices for a guy who set every passing record known to man. He just cannot duplicate that season and thus isn't quite worth the $10K plus right now. Drew Brees and Tom Brady seem like optimal cash game QB's to me while nobody is going to expect Eli Manning to do what he'll do to the Lions secondary this week.
Player | Team | DraftKings | Fanduel | Comments |
Peyton Manning | Broncos | 10,100 | 10,200 | Safe play but hard to afford that price |
Drew Brees | Saints | 9,700 | 9,700 | Game will be a shootout |
Colin Kaepernick | 49ers | 8,000 | 8,500 | Great matchup, run/pass TD upside |
Tom Brady | Patriots | 7,700 | 9,100 | Always torches the Dolphins |
Eli Manning | Giants | 7,400 | 6,600 | Value play in great matchup |
Running Backs
When it comes to RB's these days you simply want guys who are going to touch the ball. Players that catch a lot of passes but also run the rock are very valuable in DFS especially on DraftKings where it is a full point PPR. As risky as it is to start C.J. Spiller I absolutely love his matchup this week agaisnt the Bears. Both he and Fred Jackson make great GPP plays this week. Ben Tate and Andre Ellington are both very undervalued right now and will likely be staples in the DFS Playbook early in the year until their price inflates.
Player | Team | DraftKings | Fanduel | Comments |
Matt Forte | Bears | 8,300 | 9,300 | All purpose threat worth every penny |
Zac Stacy | Rams | 6,400 | 8,300 | Rams will lean heavily on Stacy this week |
Doug Martin | Buccaneers | 6,300 | 8,100 | Had almost 2K total yards before injury |
C.J. Spiller | Bills | 6,200 | 7,600 | GPP play only, great matchup |
Andre Ellington | Cardinals | 6,000 | 6,800 | Must play on DK with full PPR |
Ben Tate | Browns | 5,200 | 7,400 | Undervalued steal here |
Fred Jackson | Bills | 4,400 | 5,800 | Superb value in this great matchup |
Khiry Robinson | Saints | 3,000 | 4,800 | Complete lottery ticket upside value play |
Wide Receivers
Player | Team | DraftKings | Fanduel | Comments |
Calvin Johnson | Lions | 8,800 | 9,200 | Megatron will torch the Giants secondary |
Julio Jones | Falcons | 7,700 | 8,000 | We'll be paying CJ prices for him soon |
Andre Johnson | Texans | 6,600 | 7,400 | Tremendous upside for the value here |
Victor Cruz | Giants | 6,300 | 6,900 | Giants are going to score point this week |
Julian Edelman | Patriots | 5,300 | 6,300 | PPR machine, great on DK |
Emmanuel Sanders | Broncos | 4,800 | 6,400 | Very affordable piece of Denver offense |
Brandin Cooks | Saints | 4,500 | 5,700 | Could lead the league in Rec after week 1 |
Jordan Matthews | Eagles | 3,800 | 5,200 | This kid will be 6K in two weeks |
Mohamed Sanu | Bengals | 3,200 | 4,900 | Value option, great size |
Markus Wheaton | Steelers | 3,300 | 4,500 | Basement price for big play wideout |
Tight Ends
Player | Team | DraftKings | Fanduel | Comments |
Jimmy Graham | Saints | 7,200 | 8,100 | How do you not pay up for Graham? |
Vernon Davis | 49ers | 4,800 | 6,300 | Terrific matchup |
Kyle Rudolph | Vikings | 4,300 | 5,700 | If you must save at TE, I love Rudolph this week |
Antonio Gates | Chargers | 3,400 | 5,600 | Surprising value for production |
Defense/Special Teams
Player | Team | DraftKings | Fanduel | Comments |
St. Louis | Rams | 3,400 | 5,400 | Best defense of the week no question |
Houston | Texans | 3,100 | 4,700 | Underrated, major upside potential |
Tampa Bay | Buccaneers | 3,100 | 4,900 | Steady D Vs banged up Cam Newton |
Cleveland | Browns | 2,800 | 5,100 | Great secondary, price |
Kickers
Player | Team | DraftKings | Fanduel | Comments |
Greg Zuerlein | Rams | NA | 4,500 | No reason to pay for a kicker |
Nate Freese | Lions | NA | 4,500 | See above |
