We started the week virtually big-name injury free, but since then names like Bumgarner, Cabrera and to a lesser extent Sandavol and Rajai Davis, but they all have one thing in common: they’ll each have someone replacing them.

10-team leagues

Koda Glover, WAS RP (39% ownership), FAAB Bid - $15 – As of now, Glover and Shawn Kelley are apparently splitting time as Nationals closer but the former has gotten the call over the latter two consecutive 9th innings. The 23-year old Glover has just 27.1 innings in the MLB under his belt, so we should expect the transition from a split to be a little slower than normal. That being said, Glover will be the fulltime closer before you know it.

Patrick Corbin, ARI SP (13% ownership), FAAB Bid - $18 – Is the 2013 All-star Patrick Corbin finally returning? It’s been a rough few seasons since Tommy John surgery but the DBacks southpaw is rounding into form. Even starting back in 2016 is when the career revitalization began. He’s been especially tough on LHH dating back to the start of ’16, as he’s induced a miss rate 31-percent of the time when using his slider, which is 10-percentage points higher than the league average. But just over the last seven days, he has the second-highest chase rate amongst all qualified SPs at 56.2-percent. He’ll slot in perfectly as a number four or five starter on your staff.

12-team leagues

Aaron Altherr, PHI OF (10% ownership), FAAB Bid - $10 – Although it’s just a 12-game sample size thus far in 2017, Altherr is raking. He’s posted a 1.083 OPS and has six extra-base hits including two homers. Although this is his first real taste of big league success, he flashed upside in the minor leagues in 2015 when he slashed .293/.367/.487 with 14 homeruns and 16 stolen bases. Altherr is a duel-threat OF that the Phillies seem to really like.

Cody Bellinger, LAD 1B (32% ownership), FAAB Bid - $13 – Coming into the 2017 campaign, Bellinger was the seventh ranked prospect in the MLB according to Baseball America. He’s hit 56 home runs over his last two MiLB campaigns and slugged .538 and .507 in those two seasons respectively. Bellinger was especially good against LHP in 2016, which is exactly where the Dodgers need help. He hit .284 compared to .266 against RHP and slugged nearly 100 points higher against southpaws.

15-team leagues

Dan Vogelbach, SEA 1B (3% ownership), FAAB Bid - $6 – Here’s one of your options to replace Miguel Cabrera for the interim, as Vogelbach is now the Mariners starting 1B. Vogelbach was raking at Triple-A, hitting .309 with two home runs and 14 RBI before being called up. Vogelbach has a pretty impressive minor league resume up to this point in his career, slashing .287/.391/.480 with a .872 OPS. Vogelbach gets to hit behind the likes of Cano and Cruz so he should be set up with a bunch of run producing spots.

Carter Capps, SD RP (13% ownership), FAAB Bid - $5 – We understand Capps is coming off of Tommy John surgery, but after his latest appearance with Triple-A El-Paso where he struck out the side, it may not matter. Once activated, Capps will immediately vault into a high-pressure role for the Padres. The last time we saw him on the mound was back in 2015 where he struck out 58 batters in 31 innings. That’s a 16.8 K/9 in case you were wondering. Even if he’s not named the closer when he is first called up, keep him stashed because the time will eventually come and you want to be ahead of the curve.

Scott Schebler, CIN OF (5% ownership), FAAB BID - $2 – The one thing that has kept Schebler around is his power. He’s only hitting .186 but he’s already belted five bombs. During his 2013-’14 minor league campaigns he hit 60 combined homers, so the power is real. He’s been mighty impressive on the road this year, which leads you to believe his numbers will only go up from where they are thanks to the little league park he plays at in Cincinnati. He’s slugging .692 on the road, which is good for 13th in the entire league.  This is an addition that should be primarily used in NL-only formats, but if you’re in desperate need for power, this is a road you can indeed take as well.
