45 – N.Y. Giants at Washington – 14

The Giants offense is obviously starting to click. This is because Eli Manning is finally buying in to getting the ball out quicker and throwing shorter passes. This allows his WR’s to make up more yardage with their legs instead of relying on Eli to make up all of the yardage to move the chains.

Don’t sweat Andrew Williams if you are a Rashad Jennings owner. Williams was just spelling Jennings on a short week coming off a 34 carry game.

If you didn’t start Larry Donnell this week chances are you shouldn’t start him next week either. Going into this game Donnell had proved to be a top 10 fantasy TE and just because he scored 3 TD’s today doesn’t mean he is suddenly a top 5 fantasy TE.

I take full blame for recommending Kirk Cousins this week. He fell into a common young QB trap today in that he was trying to get points fast instead of letting the game come to him. I have confidence that he and this Redskins offense will be fine going forward.

Cousins has become quite reliant on TE Niles Paul. After Paul left the game with a concussion, Cousins was forced to throw outside the numbers where all four of his INT were thrown.

Injuries: TE Niles Paul (Concussion), LT Trent Williams (Knee)

38 – Green Bay at Chicago – 17

This game took a big turn at the end of the first half when the Bears seemed to have a Martellus Bennett touchdown. But a blocked camera viewpoint couldn’t discern whether Bennett’s armed crossed the plane of the goal line.

Something happens to Jay Cutler where he transforms from a upper echelon QB into a turnover prone disaster. Bad Jay was definitely present for the second half of this game.

Matt Forte owners have got to be frustrated as hell and rightfully so. Sure 171 yards of total offense is great but has just one touch inside the five yard line despite the Bears running six plays total. The TD’s will come but that is no consolation for those who need more early season production from him.

The officiating in this game was the worst I have seen since the 2012 Monday Night game between the Seahawks and Packers. It was bad for both sides but as a viewer it takes you out of the element of the game.

Packers WR Davante Adams played a lot today and actually had a 30 yard TD called back due to offensive holding.

The Packers had a FG called back due to holding on the Bears. Packers got a first down, which led to Randall Cobb’s second TD of the game.

Eddie Lacy had a second TD called back due to holding on Andrew Quarless.

Injuries: No injuries reported

17 – Buffalo at Houston – 23

The disappointing season continues for Andre Johnson. Not only did he lose a key fumble in this game but also was forced out late due to a right foot injury.

J.J. Watt’s interception return for a TD completely swung the momentum of this game. Watt is by far the best defensive player in the NFL right now.

The Texans running game sure ain’t what it used to be. Arian Foster looked fine physically but had absolutely nowhere to go on his eight carries today.

As great a story it is that Fred Jackson remains productive at 33 years old, every time C.J. Spiller touches the ball it is exciting. Jackson got four of his six receptions in the final two drives of the game but I really believe those touches would have been better served in Spiller’s hands.

Bills lost TE Scott Chandler early on in this game with a knee injury.

Injuries: TE Scott Chandler (Knee), LB Nigel Bradham (Knee), DT Kyle Williams (Knee), RB Andre Johnson (Ankle)

17 – Tennessee at Indianapolis – 41

The Colts had the ball basically the entire game. Time of possession was 42.21 for Indy and 17:39 for Tennessee.

The Colts offense is so much better when Andrew Luck is throwing the ball. Nobody is doubting him being a top flight NFL QB anymore.

It was really nice to see Reggie Wayne have a big game today. The fact of the matter is that you can win a fantasy championship with Wayne as your WR2 ideally in PPR formats.

Charlie Whitehurst wasn’t terrible today but he proved that he wasn’t the answer for the Titans at QB either. Zach Mettenberger got some time late in this contest and threw an interception. I really like Mettenberger long term in dynasty leagues.

Sure Bishop Sankey averaged nearly six yards per carry and scored the first TD of his career today but I have little faith in Ken Whisenhunt giving him a bigger workload at this time.

Injuries: No injuries reported

10 – Carolina at Baltimore – 38

Steve Smith got what he wanted this afternoon = revenge. Smith’s first TD was a most ridiculous tipped pass that landed right in his hands in stride for a 61 yard TD.

Bernard Pierce did not receive a single carry or target in week four. It is evident that Lorenzo Taliaferro has officially passed Pierce on the depth chart.

Despite the TD today there is absolutely no reason to start Torrey Smith in fantasy football.

Cam Newton is literally just going through the motions. He is playing with no passion, no excitement and thus has very limited fantasy value moving forward.

The DeAngelo Williams injury looks more like an Achilles injury than an ankle. I have a feeling that by the time you are reading this he could be done for the year.

With Williams likely out for awhile the guy to add here would be Fozzy Whittaker who should be back next week. I am not impressed with Darrin Reaves whatsoever.

Injuries: RB DeAngelo Williams (Ankle), FB Richie Brockel (Ankle)

24 – Detroit at N.Y. Jets – 17

The problem with having a player the caliber of Calvin Johnson is that you’ll never get an honest assessment of their injury whatsoever. Calvin was severely limited today and played the role of decoy the entire game.

Despite the positive impact today I am still not buying into Eric Ebron right now. He was filling in for Calvin Johnson most of the afternoon and it doesn’t change the fact that he isn’t a full duty TE at the moment.

Geno Smith is now 11-31 on pass attempts of over 10 yards since his solid performance in week one.

The Jets really should have utilized Jeremy Kerley better this afternoon. Having that quick hitting WR would have helped to get Geno Smith into a rhythm and also given some breathing room to Eric Decker down the field.

This is the worst Rex Ryan defense I can remember. The Jets secondary is a total disaster and is going to have a real tough time holding teams down enough for their offense to win ballgames.

Injuries: WR David Nelson (Ankle), LB Calvin Pryor (Thigh), RB Joique Bell (Concussion), RB Theo Riddick (Hamstring), FB Montell Owens (Hamstring)

27 – Tampa Bay at Pittsburgh – 24

Mike Glennon utilizes the Buccaneers WR’s height by giving his throws more loft and allowing them to go up and pluck it. Vincent Jackson and Mike Evans are a tremendous fit for this style of QB.

It was clear that Glennon had much love for Mike Evans before he left with a leg injury. If Evans is healthy, he is a strong waiver pickup this week.

Louis Murphy is a professional receiver who has been around the league for a long time. The Bucs signed him off of the street though just five days ago. Despite the performance I just don’t think that his roster spot let alone a larger role is guaranteed at this point.

The Steelers defense is terrible right now. They are injured, slow and sloppy. I would expect them to bleed points over the next few weeks especially.

The Buccaneers defense isn’t nearly as bad as it was last week against the Falcons. Getting DT Gerald McCoy back was huge today as he provided constant pressure including a sack of Ben Roethlisberger.

This is the type of game I believe Heath Miller could and should have more often. As good as his 10-85-1 was, he also had another TD called back due to a holding penalty.

Injuries: WR Mike Evans (Groin), S Dashon Goldson (Ankle)

38 – Miami at Oakland – 14 (London)

I was high on Ryan Tannehill coming into this season and love what I saw here today. But there is an obvious disconnect between Tannehill and head coach Joe Philbin and that isn’t good for the Dolphins or Tannehill’s fantasy value down the road.

Lamar Miller is averaging 5.8 yards per carry so far this season. Another performance like this one and it is going to be very difficult for the coaching staff to cast him aside for Knowshon Moreno when Moreno gets healthy.

There is a lot of speculation that the Raiders will fire head coach Dennis Allen this week during the teams bye. For Allen this would be a blessing as this franchise is going nowhere fast.

I know that the numbers don’t show it, but for the first time in over a year I was really impressed with the way Darren McFadden ran today. He actually looked motivated and best of all fast.

It was curious that Denarius Moore was a healthy scratch today. If Moore really has fallen that far back, we need to keep our eye on Brice Butler shooting up the depth chart.

If Derek Carr misses any time, understand that Matt McGloin absolutely LOVES Andre Holmes and will throw it up to him any chance that he gets.

Injuries: QB Derek Carr (Knee & Ankle)

14 – Jacksonville at San Diego – 33

Donald Brown isn’t nearly as bad as he showed today. His 10-19 rushing caught the fury of the DFS community on Twitter which means his ownership and price is sure to plummet his next time out.

I know you are all going to start Eddie Royal against the Jets next weekend but please use cautions. Remember Royal did the same thing in the first couple weeks of 2013 and went on to catch just three TD’s in his last 13 games.

On the flip side this is why you stick with players like Keenan Allen. His 10-135 yards all of a sudden has him among the AFC leaders in both receptions and yards after four weeks.

Denard Robinson is such a bad RB it is borderline ridiculous. He has no vision, instinct and can’t block worth a damn. It is embarrassing that he is getting so much time for the Jaguars these days.

Injuries: WR Cecil Shorts (Hamstring), CB Dwayne Gratz (Concussion), CB Shareece Wright (Knee)

28 – Atlanta at Minnesota – 41

Matt Asiata is going to get all of the press after rumbling for three TD’s today but the real story is Jerick McKinnon. Anybody who watched this game will remember McKinnon’s name and hope that they can bid big on him on waivers this week.

I’ll admit that I am very impressed with Teddy Bridgewater today. He stood tall in the pocket and threw the ball with confidence. I am pleasantly surprised by what I saw in Bridgewater this afternoon.

Greg Jennings wasn’t as involved as I had thought coming into this game but it pales in comparison to how little Cordarrelle Patterson is used these days. Patterson is still a high upside player but probably more of a WR4 these days than the WR2 so many thought he would be on draft day.

The Falcons defense is awful. Stack up on Giants this week on your waiver wire.

The Falcons offensive line is in such shambles that they had TE Levine Toilolo playing RT at the end of the game. It wasn’t pretty, folks!

Injuries: S William Moore (Shoulder), C Joe Hawley (Knee), RT Lamar Holmes (Foot), LG Justin Blalock (Back),  QB Teddy Bridgewater (Ankle),

21 – Philadelphia at San Francisco – 26

It can be said: LeSean McCoy is struggling…badly. McCoy is the first RB since 2004 to rush for less than 40 yards combined in consecutive games the season after winning the NFL rushing title.

Chip Kelly and his staff had better pick up on something I noticed in Nick Foles this afternoon. He is dipping his shoulder when making throws down the field right now. This is causing him to throw off his back foot and thus lose velocity and accuracy on his throws. Foles was 0-10 with 2 INT on passes over 20 yards today.

The Eagles offense did not enter 49ers territory until there was 5:19 left in the fourth quarter.

The Eagles should have been blown out today. If it wasn’t for Colin Kaepernick and the 49ers special teams trying to gift wrap the game for the Eagles it would have been a lot more lopsided.

Run the football. That is as easy as it gets for the 49ers. If they run the football they win games. When they don’t, they don’t. Since 2011 the 49ers are 11-1 when running the ball 32+ times in a game.

Carlos Hyde has no more FLEX appeal at the time being. He is a high end handcuff for Frank Gore right now and that is it.

Injuries: WR Michael Crabtree (Foot), Vernon Davis (Back), RT Anthony Davis (Knee), CB Brandon Boykin (Hamstring)

17 – New Orleans at Dallas – 38

The Cowboys offensive line is playing at an elite level and that is resulting in the entire offense firing on all cylinders.

DeMarco Murray has 534 yards rushing and is on pace to break Eric Dickerson’s single season rushing yards record of 2,105. To break this down further and prove it is the offensive line doing the work here: Murray has 327 rushing yards before contact which is more than all but two NFL players total yards rushing.

Dez Bryant’s late TD saved what was about to be a very poor fantasy performance tonight. You have to wonder how long it will be until Bryant starts complaining about the Cowboys new run first approach on offense.

The great thing about Drew Brees is that even in a miserable game, he passed for 340 yards and 2 TD’s.

The Saints defense is awful which usually is a good thing for their offense. But I am not sure about this season. The Saints offense is better when they run a more balanced offense. We have seen that when they are forced to pass on every play, bad things are happening.

Injuries: CB Morris Claiborne (Knee), LB Bruce Carter (Quad), LT Terron Armstead (Concussion)
