Welcome to Tuesday’s MLB Best Bets and Props! It’s a big-time slate tonight and that means lots of avenues to wager on and find those winners.

I love a lot about this slate and not to mention it's also a Paul Skenes day, so you already know my Yinzer blood is fired up! Besides that, though, there are some serious mismatches on the board today, so let’s take advantage and come out with some greenbacks.

Reds vs. Braves Prediction: Tuesday, July 23rd

I know it's been all season long but it’s still just weird that Chris Sale is elite again and in the running for the NL Cy Young award. Many thought his career was over and boy do they look silly right now! Sale is where I will start my first wager on this game as he’s been punching out batters easily with 140 Ks in 110 innings pitched this season. The Reds also have the 5th highest strikeout rate in MLB this season at 24.6% so Sale is in a great position tonight to go over his 7.5 strikeout prop.

The next of my MLB best bets concerning this game will come on the bat of Austin Riley as he’s carried some of the Braves offense for stretches this season and will be looking to bounce back after an 0-8 batting line over the past two games. Overall, he’s had a great July, though, hitting .274 with a .909 OPS and will face a bullpen game from the Reds which hopefully means he doesn’t see too many left-handed pitchers. His prop of hits, runs and RBIs is a bit juicy, but it's because the books know he’s going to be big today.

Last wager of this game will be the Braves on the run line as Chris Sale should shut down the offensive-dependent Reds and their pitching won’t be up to snuff to match it. With the money line so chalky, it's really the only avenue but one worth pursuing.

Red Sox vs. Rockies Prediction: Tuesday, July 23rd

It could be that I am still a bitter money line loser of the Red Sox from last night, but I see a Boston blowup tonight on offense and a much-needed win given the matchups on the field. The Rockies are starting Ty Blach tonight who holds a 5.46 ERA and 1.58 WHIP on the season and over his last three starts has failed to go over 2+ innings pitched. Because of that right there, and the fact that Boston is the better team coming in, I am locking in the Red Sox run line of -1.5 right away in my MLB picks today. They are 28-22 against the spread this season on the road as well!

Now back to Ty Blach being a terrible lefty as I have a player prop in mind for the Boston side. Tyler O’Neil is the man to back tonight as he is hitting .318 with a 1.076 OPS against southpaws this season, and last night, he had 3 hits against the other Rockies lefty in Austin Gomber. He’s a hot bat right now, so let’s go over 2.5 hits/runs/RBIs for tonight with an additional sprinkle of a quarter unit on him to hit a home run at +240!

The final wager on this game will be on Cooper Criswell, the pitcher for the Red Sox tonight, and while he’s not a sexy name, he can get the job done and is facing a Rockies team that holds a strikeout rate of 25.5%. Criswell’s K line sits at 4.5 which is a little steep for a guy like him, but given the Rockies unusual discipline against Tanner Houck yesterday, I expect some regression and Criswell has topped 4.5 Ks in two of his last four starts. It can be done, and I am betting that he will rise to the occasion.

Diamondbacks vs. Royals Prediction: Tuesday, July 23rd

Last wager game stack of the day comes from a matchup of a pair of bad pitchers going against very capable offenses! The Royals offense at home is well known at this point as they rank 2nd in MLB with 5.28 runs per game and they haven’t been slowing down one bit with 10 runs scored yesterday to start the series. The Diamondbacks are no slouches either though as they rank 6th in MLB is runs scored on the road at 4.9 runs per game! This is bad news for Jordan Montgomery and Alec Marsh but good news if you like betting overs, and that’s what we’re going to do starting with that game total of 9.5 runs.

The next pair of overs will come from batter props and the first of the two should come as no surprise as it’s a total bases wager on Bobby Witt going over 1.5! Witt Jr. has now gone over this mark in four straight games during which time he has 12 hits that include 2 home runs, 2 doubles and a triple! He should make quick work of Montgomery, the lefty tonight, as Witt Jr is hitting .344 against them.

The final of my MLB predictions today is going to be on the Arizona side of things, and it’ll be on Christian Walker who has been rock solid all season. He is hitting .284 with a .952 OPS in the month of July and, against a weak arm like Marsh, it's going to be open season. Give me the over on 1.5 hits/runs/RBIs for Walker tonight and watch that one cruise in no time.
