Clint Frazier (OF - NYY)

You can’t spell injured list without “New York Yankees”! Frazier wanted so badly to play through it, but the severity of his injury just wouldn’t allow that. It’s luckily only a sprain, but the injury is bad enough that we should see him miss anywhere from 10 days to two weeks, according to manager Aaron Boone. Frazier had just started to blossom into the hitter everyone imagined he would be when the Yankees acquired him for Andrew Miller . Frazier is hitting .324 with six homers and 17 RBI. He’s someone you want to hold on to if you can.

Giancarlo Stanton (OF - NYY)

Pretty soon Michael A. Stein is going to need to start a seperate weekly column and name it “Which Yankees are Injured This Week?” because it’s getting to be tiring. Stanton’s biceps are healed, but with good news, we have bad news. He has a new shoulder ailment that will keep him sidelined an extra week. This has likely pushed back his return into the month of May.

Zack Cozart (2B/3B - LAA)

Cozart has not started off his first couple of seasons with the Angels very healthy. Last year a shoulder injury cost Cozart 58 games and this time around it’s a neck strain. There is no timetable on his return, but if you hadn’t already moved on from him on your fantasy roster, it’s likely because you stopped paying attention. He’s hitting just .109 this season.

Asdrúbal Cabrera (3B - TEX)

The wily veteran left Thursday’s game with left calf tightness after just injuring his shoulder as well. This isn’t serious and is considered just day-to-day. Patrick Wisdom entered the game in his stead and will likely start Friday’s contest if Cabrera is unable to go. This isn’t an injury that will require dropping Cabrera.

Joey Wendle (2B/SS - TB)

Poor guy. Wendle had been back from an injury for FOUR games before being hit on the wrist with a pitch which fractured that same area. Initial thoughts were that he could return in a month, but the likelier scenario us six-to-eight weeks, which puts us in mid-to-late June. Wendle was a VERY viable asset to Tampa last year hitting over .300 for them over the entire campaign. The Rays called up Christian Arroyo to fill the vacant roster spot left by Wendle.

Jordan Zimmermann (SP - DET)

To come away with only a sprain seems like a win for Zimmermann, doesn’t it? Anytime someone leaves a game because of any sort of elbow or arm injury, we start thinking the worst. That said, we’re truly unsure how serious it is. He’s eligible to come off of the disabled list on the seventh of May, but that seems very doubtful at this time. If you picked him up due to his early season success, you can drop him and never look back at this point.

On the Mend

Mike Moustakas (2B/3B - MIL)

Moustakas hasn’t played a game since April 20, but is in the starting lineup and batting fourth for Friday’s game. He was hit with a pitch and fractured his finger, so the interesting thing will be how does he respond in a live game? He has reportedly been taking swings over the past couple of days, so obviously he wouldn’t be playing if he wasn’t healthy enough to.

Rich Hill (SP - LAD)

Maybe we found the key to Rich Hill ’s success. Not wanting to do something! Hill did not want to make his second rehab start after he thought his knee held up well enough after his first four inning outing, but threw six scoreless innings while striking out 16. I never want to call an injury a positive, but at least it’s not blisters? Hill is lined up to start on Sunday and he’s definitely worth a roster spot in all formats. He could take your pitching staff to the next level if he does in fact stay healthy.

Rougned Odor (2B - TEX)

I know Howard touched on Odor in Tuesday’s edition, but he’s officially been sent on a rehab assignment retroactive to Wednesday and could be in the lineup as early as Friday if they feel all he needed was two games. He homered and doubled in those two games, so don’t be surprised if he cracks tonight’s lineup card.
