Top-Tier
Paul Goldschmidt, STL – Goldy has been on a tear, slashing .388/.448/.659 over his last 21 games with four home runs, three steals, nine doubles, 19 RBI, and 14 runs scored, averaging 12.0 points per game on DK in that span. He is hitting .295 with a .370 OBP on the road this season, compared to a .281 average and .337 OBP at home. Today he gets to face a pitcher in Crowe who has a 5.46 ERA, 5.67 FIP, 1.58 WHIP, and 1.9 HR/9. He has massive reverse splits too as righties are slashing a robust .328/.395/.581 against him, compared to the .217/.330/.414 line against him. The Cardinals are a stackable option, but Goldy is a great play as one-off if not stacking.
Ketel Marte, ARZ – Marte is currently riding a nine-game hitting streak, hitting .406 with three home runs, eight RBI, and four runs scored in that span, while averaging 10.7 points per game on DK in that in that timeframe. He has been incredible against lefties this year, slashing an insane .449/.493/.826 against them across 75 PA, compared to .304/.358/.437 against righties. Today he faces a lefty in Suarez, who has pitched well but righties have done the damage against him, slashing .221/.317/.310 against him, compared to the miserable .087/.182/.101 line lefties have produced against him. With Marte swinging a hot bat and having great success against lefties, I would be surprised if he doesn’t keep that momentum going today.
Mid-Tier
Willy Adames, MIL – Adames’ price has dipped into the mid-tier range, but there really isn’t any good reason for that and I will be taking advantage of the savings. He is hitting .295 with 17 home runs, 24 doubles, 50 RBI, and 51 runs scored over 82 games with the Brewers and averaging 9.0 DK points per game with them, which is more than nearly all 15 shortstops priced higher than he is on DK. He has major reverse splits, slashing .282/.356/.508 against righties, compared to .225/.306/.450 against lefties. He is also slashing a robust .316/.375/.551 on the road this season. Today he gets to face a pitcher with a 6.29 ERA, 6.54 FIP, and 2.6 HR/9 this year across 48.2 innings.
Jonathan India, CIN – India should be the front-runner for NL ROY honors as he has had a fantastic season, slashing .272/.383/.457 with 17 home runs, nine steals, 59 RBI, and 78 runs scored. He has been great against lefties, slashing .333/.421/.485 against them, compared to .252/.372/.448 against righties. He has also been great on the road, slashing .281/.404/.493, compared to .263/.363/.423 at home. Today he gets to face Luzardo… who has an ugly 7.91 ERA, 1.82 WHIP, and 2.4 HR/9. Right-handed bats are slashing a robust .312/.394/.602 against Luzardo this year with 14 of the 16 home runs that he has given up.
Bargain Bin
Joc Pederson, ATL – Joc has been decent this year, hitting .235 with 15 home runs and 54 RBI. He has hit for a higher average against lefties, which is odd given his career numbers, but his power has still been against righties as 13 of his 15 home runs have been against them and ALL three of his triples have been as well and his SLG is over .050 points higher against righties. The thing I love most about this matchup though is the fact that he has destroyed this head-to-head matchup, going 6-14 (.429) with FOUR home runs against DeSclafani.
Jake Meyers, HOU – Meyers continues to surge as he racked up another two hits last night and is now hitting .323 with three home runs, a steal, and 14 RBI across 20 games played. He is averaging 9.4 points per game on DK over the last 14 games and he doesn’t even cost you $3,000! He is slashing an absurd .417/.417/.667 against lefties through his first 24 PA against them, compared to .268/.311/.439 against righties. Today he faces Hearn, who has a 4.08 ERA, 4.93 FIP, and 1.5 HR/9 against. Righties are slashing .251/.343/.439 against him, compared to the .191/.284/.303 line that lefties have produced.
