Prediction: Bad News Eagles win 2-1.
PALOMA have won all four of their series played with this lineup that includes mchk. The Polish roster has taken down MASONIC, ex-SKADE, Aurora, and Sangal on their way to winning ESL Advanced Season 42 Europe, so PALOMA seems pretty legit. As for Bad News Eagles, they just lost as a favorite against TYLOO on Tuesday, but other than that they have been in good form recently with a 31-20 W/L record across 51 maps played in the past three months. Bad News Eagles are likely focused on the upcoming IEM Rio Major, but I still expect them to perform well in this less meaningful spot. BNE have a strong map pool, but they do have some weaknesses, like Vertigo where they have now lost seven times in a row. PALOMA beat Sangal 16-9 on Vertigo last time we saw them play on that map, and I think it may be worth considering going for the ‘punish pick’ here given how bad Bad News Eagles have been on that map. We can expect to see BNE ban Overpass and PALOMA will likely ban Dust2. Bad News Eagles have been sharp across the rest of the map pool in the past three months with a winning record on Inferno (7-1 W/L), Ancient (10-2 W/L), Mirage (7-4 W/L), and Nuke (3-2 W/L). Thus, I don’t see much of an opening here for PALOMA outside of Vertigo. Still, PALOMA are good enough to keep things competitive and I expect this series to be fairly back-and-forth. On Draftkings, rigoN is an interesting option as his form has been improving lately, though his price has now gone up relative to his teammates. My favorite option on PALOMA is Layner as he leads this lineup in K/D ratio (1.38) and he will have the AWP in his hands. Casey & olimp are the other two carries on this team and they might be worth a look, but ultimately I would prefer to stack BNE.
